Abstract

Numerical Simulation and Experimental Validation ofAir Flow Distribution in CoolingTower. Numerical simulation and experimental validation of air flow distribution in induced draftCooling Tower (CT) has been done. Numerical simulation was done by using Computational FluidDynamics (CFD) software, while measurement was conducted by using a testfacility exist in BTMPBPPTThis studyis aimedto assist thepreliminary analysis predicting thatone ofcause a higherofmakeup waterconsumption in CTis mal-distribution ofair stream in CT. The results ofnumerical simulationand testing shows that tendency of mal-distribution of air stream is true happened. But to ensure thatwhether this mal-distribution ofairflow mentioned as the root cause ofheight consumemake waterstillrequireto be proved after theCTprovided withhomogeniser ofair stream.

Abstract

Radiator Performance Characteristic Test. Test ofradiatorperformance characteristic atvarious flow rates has been done. The test is aimed to verify the specification given by vendor and todefine radiator performance, such as temperature effectiveness (e), Number of Transfer Unit (NTU) andpressure drop at around of design condition as a solution ofrating problem. Based onthe test results thisradiator was well designed. Temperature effectiveness variesaround60 to 85% and NTUshowed a goodagreement with the theoretical model. The different are around 0.1% to 5.3%>. Pressure drops are stillaccepted by design criteria. Especially for airside, the pressure drops arearound 29 to 392 Pa which arestill inferiorsthan 900Pa.

Abstract

Background of this research is to compare the performance of Gas Turbin Power Plant between site test and factory test to make sure that there are no damage on equipment that can cause the decrease of Gas Turbine Performance, and also known the best operation mode in plant.Performance of Gas Turbine Power Plant can be seen from several parameters such as temperature and pressure can be seen from Calculation to be discussed is the work of  compressor, turbine, combustion chamber work, the efficiency of the compressor and thermal efficiency of the cycle brayton effective .            The result of performance test show that Gas Turbine performance decrease from 9389,54BTU/kWH and 9409,83 BTU/kWH in factory test to 9944,58 BTU/kWH and 9919.97 BTU/kWH in site test. While the best operation mode occurs when operated on DOHR at 90 to 100% load. Performance of gas turbine is directly proportional to the load. When the load is low, the performance of gas turbine decrease, and when the load is high, the performance of gas turbine increase. This mean that there is a positive correlation between load changes on the performance of gas turbines.
