Abstract

The main concern of this research is the exploration of tendencies made by the participants of a thesis examination in enacting their roles through their speech function choices. Interpretation of the data is based on the principle of critical discourse analysis within the systemic functional linguistic. The results show us the paradox of a Question – and – Answer episode of a thesis examination. It lies in the fact that it must operate in an academic atmosphere, be brief and frightening, and the examiners initiate the interaction by demanding information from the student, and yet it is a joint production of conversation in which, while enacting their supportive roles, the examiners contribute to sustaining the interaction, making it half-way between casual and pragmatic conversation. Based on the findings: some suggestions addressed to examiners are made.

Abstract

Perception about testing and preparation to take a test is usually actualized in what the students do before, during, and after testing. This research involves 50 students and 17 lecturers as respondents, and uses structured questionnaire as its instrument. The results of the analysis show that: 1) the test-taking strategy used by the students of Education Department, the University of Muria Kudus (EED UMK) in open book tests is fair, 2) in α .01 and df 15, there is a significant dependency relationship between students grade and test-taking strategy use in open book tests although there is no exact relationship nature between these two variables.

Abstract

AbstractWind speed changes at SUTET conductor besides having coolingeffects it also improves the transmission line capacities and will giveinfluence to conductor performances. This research aimed to knowthe influence of the wind speed to performance conductorcharacteristics such as temperature, tension, length, sag andcurrent carrying capacity of conductor. As simulation model, anextra high voltage transmission line 500kV Paiton – Kediri span no10 is used. Temperature of Conductor is calculated based on hotbalanceequation, whereas Catenary method and Rulling spanmethod used to determine sag conductor and length. The result ofcalculation shows, that the wind speed can be used to coolconductor with the range from 1 - 3 degree of celcius each for everyincrease of wind speed for 0,5 m / s. While conductor mechanicalcharacteristics such as tension, length, and sag does not having anysignificant changes.Keyword : Mechanical performance, Transmission line, Conductor.

Abstract

Motor induksi merupakan motor yang paling banyak digunakan dalam dunia industri karena mempunyai beberapa kelebihan yaitu perawatan yang sederhana, memiliki struktur yang kokoh, harga yang relatif terjangkau dan mudah didapat dipasaran. Pengoprasian motor induksi tiga fase dengan sumber satu fase menjadi pilihan yang sangat baik untuk keaadaan dimana sumber tiga fase tidak tersedia. Tegangan nominal pada sumber satu fase adalah 220 volt, jika menggunakan motor induksi tiga fase dengan tegangan nominal 380 volt maka dibutuhkan boost buck konverter untuk menaikkan tegangan dari sumber satu fase dan control PI untuk mengontrol tegangan dalam merespon perubahan beban pada motor induksi. Proses konversi tiga fase menggunanakan inverter pulse width modulation. Simulasi unjuk kerja pada motor induksi dalam penelitian ini menggunakan matlab R2010b dengan spesifikasi motor 5 HP, 380 volt 50 Hz 1500 rpm. Hasil simulasi diperoleh nilai faktor daya saat terhubung dengan sumber satu fase saat tanpa beban 0,0925 dan saat beban nominal 0,8259. Hasil dari efisiensi rata – rata sebesar 89,64% pada saat motor terhubung dengan sumber satu fase lebih besar dari saat motor terhubung dengan sumber tiga fase yaitu 89,22%. Kata kunci : motor induksi, boost buck konverter, PI controller, inverter pulse width modulation.

Abstract

Indonesia menyimpan potensi energi terbarukan yakni geotermal berupa sumber air panas. Salah satu daerah yang berpotensi dalam pemanfaatan air panas untuk dijadikan pembangkit listrik berada di Blawan Bondowoso. Dalam penelitian ini, TEC dialih fungsikan sebagai pembangkit listrik tenaga panas / TEG (thermoelectric generator) yang menggunakan efek Seebeck. Digunakan 9 buah TEC berdimensi 4x4cm yang dirangkai secara seri, dengan bahan berupa Bi2Te3 (Bismuth telluride) sebagai alat bantu pengambilan data. Sumber air panas di Blawan memiliki temperatur pada kisaran 45-49,5 °C. Pengambilan data potensi dilakukan selama 3 hari yakni 21-23 Agustus 2015. Pukul 9:00–15:00 WIB, dengan pencatatan keluaran data potensi setiap selang 30 menit. Tercatat VTEG tertinggi dimiliki hari ke-2 sebesar 4,506 V pada pukul 9:00 WIB dan VTEG terendah dimiliki hari ke-1 sebesar 2,001 V pada pukul 13:30 WIB. Variasi besar arus tercatat pada angka 0,04 A dan 0,03 A, namun rata-rata stabil pada 0,03A. Daya tertinggi yang dicapai pada ketiga hari sebesar 0,48 Watt, dan daya terendah dicapai pada hari pertama sebesar 0,07962 Watt.

Abstract

ABSTRACTDibenzothiophene is one of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) compound containing sulfur element. This compound has toxicity, mutagenic and quiet persistent in environment. From sreening test, it was known that isolate LBF-1-0061 was potential to degrade dibenzothiophene. The objectives of this study are to study dibenzotiophene degrading capability by marine bacteria isolate LBF-1-0061 using screening test; analysis of dibenzothiophene residue by GC/MS and identifiy the isolate by molecular identification. The result of this research shown that LBF-1-0061 isolate could grow up to 100 ppm of dibenzotiophene. This isolate also presented degrading capability approximately 37.5% of dibenzotiophene in 14 days incubation. Based on partial 16S rRNA gene analysis, LBF-1-0061 was identified 99% as Novosphingobium mathurense strain SM117.Keywords: sea bacteria, biodegradation, dibenzotiofen, hydrocarbon aromatic polisiclic

Abstract

The study was conducted to examine the effect of changes in Financial Accounting Standards (SAK) business Rural Bank (BPR), with the enactment of the Financial Accounting Standards Un Accountability Public-entity-(SAK-ETAP) and the Rural Bank Accounting Guidelines (PA-BPR), to BPR efficiency. SAK changes may result in changes to the financial performance of business efficiencies, especially BPR. Efficiency is one of the performance parameters which theoretically can be used as a basis for determining the performance of the bank. Non-parametric approach to Data-Envelopment Analysis (DEA), used as a tool for evaluating the efficiency of BPR, with input variables (cash, placements with other banks, fixed assets, other assets, third party financing, interest income, interest expense, expense fees and expenses operational) and the output variable (that is given credit, loans received, and net income). Analysis of the influence of changes in accounting standards on the efficiency of BPR, performed using Analysis of Variance analysis tools-(ANOVA) and regression bootstrap method. The results showed that, for BPR in East Java which has total assets of Rp. 10 (ten) million, changes in accounting standards had no effect on the efficiency of BPR. The condition is caused by, changes in financial accounting standards, fundamentally, is the reclassification and changes in the presentation of accounts in the financial statements BPR. Abstract

The basic principle of metal formation is a process that is done by giving shape changes on the workpiece. This shape change can be done by providing an outer force resulting in plastic deformation. The application of this metal formation can be seen in some examples such as rolling, bending, forging, extruding, wire drawing, deep drawing, and so on. In the process of formation of this metal is also used tooling (bending) whose function gives style to the workpiece, and direct the change of shape. Knowing the speed of the power forwarding system on the pipe roller machine starting from the power source until power is used as the work cycle, and to know the type of belt, the length of the belt used on the pipe roll machine. From this research can be concluded that: (1) In bending the thickness of 4 mm pipe the required power is 582.4 N with power of 0.4 hp then the motor required 1 hp, the diameter of the pulley used is 2 inch for motoran and 8 inch for the pivot reducer, belt used type B with length 44 inch, (2) To reach the rotation of ± 2 rpm ie pulley diameter used with the ratio of pulley ratio is 1: 4, the reducer is used with the value I = 60 and sprocket ratio 1: 3.

Abstract

The dual-role of the students of English Education Department Teacher Training and Education Faculty Muria Kudus University as both English language learners and language users gets them to be autonomous, effective, efficient, and strategic readers. The objective of this research is to investigate the relationship between quality of the reading strategy and academic achievement of the students. The subjects of this research were 104 students of EED UMK comprising of all semesters taken randomly. The instrument used was closed-ended questionnaire. The result of this research reveals that there is no relationship between quality of the reading strategy and academic achievement, meaning that the quality of reading strategy does not influence the academic achievement of the students. Implikasions and recommendations for the institution and for further research were proposed.

Abstract

Overhead transmission line generally use ACSR conductor type (Aluminium Conductor Alloy Reinforced), it has makimum temperature allowable is 90oC. To take into consideration of electric demand increasing recently, then effort to expand of transmission line capacity with develop new transmission, however need the high cost. ACCR conductor (Aluminium Conductor Composite Reinforced) has been developed recently. The superiority of this conductor is resist to the heat until 240oC, hence current carrying capacity higher than ACSR conductor. This research aimed to study load current leading to mechanical performance characteristic ACCR conductor included tension, length of elongation and sag of conductor, hence expected from this research will be useful to develop construction structure of transmission line appropriate to characteristic of ACCR conductor. Based on this research it can be concluded that application of ACCR conductor improves transmission line capacities by 100 % on existing ROW and tower. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Saluran transmisi udara umumnya menggunakan konduktor jenis ACSR (Aluminium Conductor Alloy Reinforced) yang memiliki batas temperatur kerja yang diijinkan sebesar 90oC. Mempertimbangkan peningkatan kebutuhan daya listrik yang semakin pesat akhir-akhir ini, maka usaha menambah kapasitas saluran transmisi dilakukan dengan membangun saluran transmisi baru, akan tetapi diperlukan biaya yang sangat tinggi. Dewasa ini telah dikembangkan konduktor ACCR (Aluminium Conductor Composite Reinforced). Keunggulan dari konduktor jenis ini adalah tahan terhadap panas sampai 240oC, sehingga kemampuan hantar arusnya menjadi lebih tinggi dibandingkan konduktor ACSR. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik perubahan arus saluran terhadap unjuk kerja mekanis konduktor ACCR yang meliputi tegangan tarik, panjang pemuluran dan andongan, sehingga diharapkan dari hasil penelitian ini akan berguna untuk membangun struktur konstruksi saluran transmisi yang sesuai dengan sifat konduktor ACCR. Hasil simulasi memperlihatkan, bahwa dengan mempertahankan ROW dan tower yang ada, penggunaan konduktor ACCR dapat meningkatkan kapasitas penyaluran sistem transmisi sekitar 100 % dibanding konduktor ACSR. Kata kunci: unjuk kerja mekanis, saluran transmisi, ACSR dan ACCR
