Abstract

Digital Natives students born into an era of instant networking. It makes everything have a connection with technologies. Digital natives having sophisticated technology knowledge and skills that can be potentially harnessed for better learning engagement inside the classroom. Seesaw is a simple way for teachers and students to record and share what's happening in the speaking classroom. Seesaw gives students a place to document their learning, be creative and learn how to use technology in language learning class. This paper will discuss the seesaw application within implementation problems and its solutions. The researcher will use a qualitative study for this research. The study's data is collected from the second semester until sixth-semester students of English Department at Tidar University. Abstract

As future teachers they need some methods to help learners to improve and increase their vocabulary. Besides currently future teachers will face 21st century learners. It deals with today we live in modern era. Through using of technology it could help learners on learning process. This paper studies on future teachers’ perception in order to use technology in learning process. The technology that will use is word of the day on dictionary.com application. By using the methodlearners will get new words every day.

Abstract

COVID-19 outbreak has affected people's activities in Indonesia. At least people in 34 provinces should stay at home to reduce this pandemic spread. This world pandemic has a massive impact on national and international travel, gatherings, and tourism activities. This research is discussing about Si Budur application that has a new concept to bring back the cultural tourism for digital natives’ generations. Especially, in this pandemic condition, the digital natives’ generations need the appropriate media to learn about their own culture. Many cultural tourism is contain important cultural value for the digital natives’ generation. This paper is talking about the use of SI BUDUR application in order to give Indonesian cultural tourism holding a chance to use a new platform in their activities, especially to counteract the COVID-19 pandemic. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method to discuss the assumption, supporting theory, and previous research. Collecting the data from previous literature and research that talking about using the digital media to bring back the cultural tourism. Researchers analyze the data by compiling the result of some previous literatures and research then comparing with the Si Budur concept. The result is interesting which shows there are many factors that will affect the implementation of Si Budur. It is an appropriate media for the digital natives’ generation to learn and get the knowledge about cultural history around them during this Covid-19 pandemic. This concept is first and fresh concept that has goals to bring back the cultural value to the digital natives’ generations. The other literatures and previous research did not have same and specific concept like Si Budur. It is offer the combination of latest technology with the amazing cultural value. Indonesia has a lot of cultural value that should be keep in touch with the digital natives’ generations. Digital natives’ generations as the main and massive generations in this era will give necessary effect to the cultural value. Keywords: COVID-19, Culture, Tourism, SI BUDUR

Abstract

Personality may affect our way to learn. Based on the essential role of various forms of personalities in the cycle of studying foreign languages and understanding foreign languages, this thesis seeks to explore the effect of extroversion and introversion on the identity of English as a foreign language learner in writing research articles. Fifty students are taking part in this study. Those participants are the fifth-semester students of Tidar University who take Teaching English as Foreign Language class. They have many papers from any lecture. They can produce more than three research papers in a year. Publishing their papers still become interesting topics for them. The researcher uses descriptive qualitative method to get the result. By giving a questionnaire to all of the participants to find out their personality types and then asking about their preferences in publishing research papers. Based on the findings, researcher get main result, there are more extroverts EFL Learners than the introvert one. They could give wide perspectives about publishing their papers. Their perspectives on their preferences depend on any reason that supports the result.

Abstract

As one of the important factors in learning language, learning grammar become a great topic to discuss and enhance. Digital native students who are common in use their devices in order to help them enhance their learning language, online games are unique media to apply in their language class. This study conducted at Avizena.edu private courses in Magelang, Central Java Province, Indonesia. High school students who were enrolled in the English class are our respondents. The survey conducted the following aspects: preferences, actual use, ease of use, experience, and learning opportunities. Digital native students were also invited to share potential positive and negative benefits for online game use in the classroom. A hundred students completed the survey. Results indicate that most students viewed the potential utilization and integration of online games as positive. Moreover, some digital native students expressed pertain that the use of language online games may not give an efficient or effective method and impact in learning grammar activities.

Abstract

Personality may affect our way to learn. Based on the important role of different personality types in the foreign language learning process and in mastering a foreign language, this study aims at investigating through the impact of extroversion and introversion personality impact on English as Foreign Language learners’ preferences in publishing research papers. Fifty students are taking part in this study. Those participants are the fifth-semester students of Universitas Tidar who take Teaching English as a Foreign Language class. They have many papers from any lecture. They can produce more than three research papers in a year. Publishing their papers still become interesting topics for them. The researcher uses descriptive qualitative method to get the result. Abstract

Speaking can be said as one of the four basic skills in English. In every English textbook, there must be a speaking assessment. This research aims to analyze the five types of speaking assessments in the textbook “When English Rings a Bell for Grade VII”. The textbook analysis in this study considered five types in speaking assessment there are: 1. Imitative speaking tasks, 2. Intensive speaking tasks, 3. Responsive speaking tasks, 4. Interactive speaking tasks and, 5. Extensive speaking tasks. This study includes the design of descriptive qualitative. This study using a method of content analysis. The collection of the data was done through procedures: 1) looking, 2) observing, 3)analyzing the data based on Brown’s theory. The result of the study there are five types of speaking tasks in that textbook, but it has a different rate of the types. The textbook not only has a speaking task, it also has another skill of English there are reading, listening, and writing.
