Kata Kunci : Context-aware smart home, Internet of Thing

Abstract

The study examines the influence of learning management systems to the implementation of flipped classroom model in a vocational school in Indonesia. The flipped classroom is a relatively new educational model that inverts students’ time to study on lectures and time spent on homework. Despite studies have been conducted on the model, few addressed the impact of the use of a learning management system to the performance of students involved in such learning model particularly within Indonesian educational systems context. A quasi-experiment approach was applied to an experiment class and another control class. Upon the analysis, the results emphasized previously held research outcomes. The use of Edmodo learning management systems enhances students’ performance in the experiment class, relative to those of the control class.  Except where otherwise noted, content on this site is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.

Abstract

Despite the case study research method has been widely adopted in qualitative research, few scholarly articles addressed the comprehensive guidance on the use of embedded case study research design. This paper aims to contribute to the literature by demonstrating the use of embedded case study research design in qualitative research. A pseudo case was exemplified by exploring the relationship between a holding company and its subsidiary companies of a corporate group. What construct a case and the rationale for the case being studied is exemplified. The paper further outlines the research protocol, the procedure of inquiry, and the design of the embedded case analysis. A brief explanation of the context of the case enriches the understanding of the investigated cases.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country with rapid technological developments in all sectors including education. This can be proved by the government's success in applying computer-based test in 2014 junior high school. Many conveniences obtained when the exam using computer such as the assessment automatically, get feedback quickly and the question can be stored in the bank question. In this research, computer-based test system will be developed based on the convenience as above and will be added some other features to suit of the school using waterfall development model. Additional features include classroom major, question grouping in the question bank, user management and ease of registration during new year academic calendar. After developing system has been done, the CBT system is tested to one class at a vocational high school in Indonesia using an system feasibility instrument adapted from technology acceptance model (TAM) to know the level of feasibility the CBT system in perceived usefulness and perceived easy of use. The test results show that CBT system is very suitable for use in the class and can be applied to all schools in Indonesia.

Abstract

The changes in learning management typically involve the introduction of various alternative learning methods. The development of an effective learning experience requires the modification of conventional learning. Teaching and learning constructively synchronize instructions and assessment toward the desired learning outcomes. Notwithstanding the vast literature on the creation of effective learning, the lack of explanation on how the relationship between effective teaching and effective classroom would likely leave practitioners and academia without a clear guidance on how to operationalize the creation of effective learning in real life. A systematic literature review procedure was conducted upon published papers between 2007 and 2015 in outstanding education journals. This paper contributes to the literature by amassing the knowledge on pedagogical practices in effective learning creation. In addition, to obtain a granular elaboration about the matter, a framework to operationalize the creation of effective learning is suggested. Three aspects compose the framework namely teachers' intrinsic capabilities, educational institution support, and student’s participative involvement. The roles of each party were extracted from the knowledge contained in the reviewed literature. This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License.

Abstract

Problem-based learning is characterized by the existence of a real problem as the context wherein students learn critical thinking skills, problem-solving, and knowledge acquisition. The concept of critical thinking gains popularity to help students obtain the ability to conduct fact analysis, support opinion with an argument, and problem-solving. The majority of Indonesian vocational school students, however, have difficulty in developing critical thinking skills and problem-solving. This research was purportedly designed to evaluate the differences of students' critical thinking ability in response to the application of various problem-based learning model namely Fishbone diagram, problem-based learning model, and expository learning model. A quasi-experimental design was applied to assess students' critical thinking. The findings indicate that there was a significant difference in students' critical thinking ability responding to the learning models. In summary, the research proposes the problem-based learning as an alternative learning model to improve student’s critical thinking ability.

Abstract

The Rapid spread of Covid-19 has caused worldwide panic due to a high mortality rate. At the beginning of the pandemic, the community did not yet have an adequate understanding of what and how the virus spreads. While tell-tales and social media tend to be discouraging, inaccurate, and fearmongering. The low knowledge and level of public awareness in the face of the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic prompted the UNS KKN Team to make socialization a priority for the Covid-19 2020 Thematic Community Service activities. Socialization programs with various strategies were implemented to provide an understanding of PHBS, the importance of using masks, and new behaviors for prevent the spread of the impact of the pandemic more widely in Magelang, Kebumen and Purwokerto areas. The direct face-to-face socialization, posters / banners, or social media posts are considered effective in providing accurate information to the public, as well as clarifying hoax that has spread rapidly to the public regarding the Covid-19 Pandemic.
