Abstract

The objective of this study is to find out the effect of the teaching approach and interest in reading on the understanding of poetry content. The teaching approach use was humanistic and structural approachs, the method used was a quasi experiment of 2x2 factorial design, the sample size was 80 student grade 8 of the public junior Highschool. The result found are as the followings; (1)The ability of student to understand comprehensively of the poetry by humanistic approach is better than by the structural approach of teaching, (2)The ability of students with the reading interest the humanistic approach is better than by the structural approach on their comprehension of the poetry contens.Keywords: understanding of poetry, teaching approach, reading interest of student.

Abstract

The background of this study begins from people who rarely use monoligual language (one language). But in daily life, there are still many people who use two languages (bilingualism). People who use local languages and Indonesian language for example. The purpose of this study is to describe bilingualism in novels as a sociolinguistic study that examines language in assessment with the user community. This research is used to provide information to readers about the bilingualism in Gadis Pantai (The Girl from the Coast) by Pramoedya Ananta Toer. This study uses qualitative research with content analysis methods. The data source used in this study is primary data in the form of novel as the main data source. Secondary data of this study are reference books that support the study conducted by researchers. This research is useful for studying bilingualism in Gadis Pantai by Pramoedya Ananta. From the results of the study and discussion it can be concluded that Gadis Pantai by Pramoedya Ananta Toer contains 25 sentences in bilingualism. Bilingualism that is found is between Javanese language and Indonesian language but indonesian dominated. Bilingualism is not only found directly in the communication of the language community but also can be found in literary works. This type of literary work can be in the form of a novel. Bilingualism in novels is found in conversations between characters in the novel.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze, how the upgrading of students’ knowledge concerning with the fact, concept, tenet and skil in processing of learning indonesian language through inquiry approach which is given by the teacher have the positive impacts. This reseach was done by qualitative descriptive with path method. The data collection has already been done through field observation, test,and documentation. The reseach subject was a teacher and a number of 40 students as an object There are comprehensively improving in fact, concept, tenet and skill students in a learning process of indonesian language through inquiry approach. The upgrading knowledge of students based on measuring cycles, namely: cycle I previous fact 37,5 % become 41,6 %. cycle II previous fact 41,6% become 62,5 %. III previous fact 62,5% become 91,6 % The upgrading knowledge of students on fact, concept, tenet and skil in a learning process of indonesian language through inquiry approach, based on measuring cycles have a positive significan impact where each of percentage cycles continously increase

Abstract

This study aims to determine the use of reading techniques that are effective and efficient, and to determine whether there is an effect of skimming reading techniques on students' reading comprehension skills to identify the intrinsic elements present in drama texts read by grade VIII students of SMP Muhammadiyah Tangerang City. This research is a quantitative research. Data collection techniques using tests, namely pretest and posttest. The results of this study indicate the influence of the ability to identify the intrinsic elements of drama text on students who use skimming reading techniques. This effect has been carried out with the results of the t-test. Then it shows the results of t count 0.233 <t table 1.977, t count is smaller than t table, this shows that there is no significant difference between the experiment class students and the control class students on the ability to identify the intrinsic elements of drama text. After the pretest is done posttest to find out, it shows the results of t count 1.982> t table 1,800, t count is greater than t table shows that there is a difference in the ability to identify the intrinsic elements of drama text between students who receive learning about the use of skimming reading techniques and students who get conventional learning. From the data obtained like what is listed above, it can be concluded that there is an effect of using skimming reading techniques on the ability to identify the intrinsic elements of drama text in class VIII students of SMP Muhammadiyah Tangerang City

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan dan menjelaskan fenomena integrasi bahasa yang terdapat dalam novel Anak Rantau karya Ahmad Fuadi. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode analisis isi dengan menggunakan pendekatan sosiolinguistik. Data dan sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah novel Anak Rantau karya Ahmad Fuadi. Oleh sebagian sosiolinguis, masalah integrasi merupakan masalah yang sulit dibedakan dari interferensi. Integrasi adalah unsur-unsur bahasa lain yang digunakan dalam bahasa tertentu dan dianggap sudah menjadi bagian dari bahasa tersebut. Integrasi bahasa terjadi karena akibat adanya penggunaan dua bahasa atau lebih dalam masyarakat tutur yang multilingual. Integrase tidak dianggap sebagai gejala penyimpangan dikarenakan unsur-unsur bahasa sumber itu telah disesuaikan dengan bahasa sasarannya dan dianggap sebagai perbendaharaan kata baru. Integrase dipandang sebagai sesuatu yang diperlukan jika tidak ada padanan kata dalam bahasa sasaran. dari hasil penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis integrasi bahasa, untuk mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis novel, dan untuk mengetahui berapa banyak integrasi bahasa yang terdapat dalam novel Anak Rantau karya Ahmad Fuadi. Selain itu integrasi bahasa menjadi salah satu peristiwa yang sering terjadi dalam karya – karya sastra seperti novel Anak Rantau Karya Ahhmad Fuadi. Didalam novel tersebut terdapat beberapa integrasi bahasa yang terdiri dari bahasa Inggris, Arab,Latin dan sansakerta. Integrasi bahasa ini terjadi akibat dialog yang diucapkan para tokoh novel hal ini menunjukan integrasi bahasa merupakan khasanah bahasa masyarakat Indonesia.
