Abstract

The use of papaya latex formulated with nitrogen supplementation and minerals in the form of multinutrition blocks that can pass through the rumen is expected to improve nutritional quality and feed digestibility. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the use of fermented rice straw, papaya fruit latex and blood clamshell flour as a main raw material in the manufacture of multinutrition blocks plus herbal anthelmintic medicine (papaya fruit latex) on physical quality (texture, color, aroma, hardness), chemical quality (proximate composition and mineral content of Ca, P, Mg, Cu, Zn). Microbiological tests were carried out on total bacteria, Salmonella and Escherichia coli. The research design used was a completely randomized design with 4 treatment levels of papaya fruit administration and 4 replications. Data is processed statistically using ANOVA. The results of organoleptic physical quality analysis showed significant differences in the texture of the product given the highest papaya latex (0.007ml / kg). Chemical analysis of the product showed a quantitative increase in protein, although statistically the treatment did not show any significant differences. The results of the analysis of the microbiological quality of the product quantitatively showed that the resulting multinutrition block herbs were not contaminated with negative bacteria. It was concluded that multinutrition block herbs can be given to livestock as supplementary feed.

Abstract

ABSTRAK            Penelitian bertujuan mengkaji kualitas pellet yang dievaluasi dari kandungan protein kasar, protein murni serta biomassa mikrobia.  Penelitian dirancang dengan rancangan acak lengkap dengan 4 perlakuan dan  4 ulangan. T0 sebagai perlakuan kontrol tidak terdapat penambahan pollard berprobiotik, T1 terdapat penambahan pollard berprobiotik sebanyak 10%, T2 terdapat penambahan pollard berprobiotik sebanyak 20%, dan T3 terdapat penambahan pollard berprobiotik sebanyak 30%.  Kadar protein kasar dianalisis dengan menggunakan metode Kjeldahl, biomassa mikrobia dianalisis dengan spektrofotometer serta kadar protein murni dianalisis dengan cara di inkubasi dan dianalisis dengan metode Kjedahl, hasilnya diuji dengan Anova. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan pollard berprobiotik tidak berbeda  nyata (P>5%) terhadap kandungan protein kasar pellet T0 (15,32%), T1 (16,21%), T2 (16,28%) dan T3 (16,42%). Penambahan pollard berprobiotik berpengaruh nyata dengan taraf signifikasi 5% (P<5%) terhadap kandungan biomassa mikrobia dan protein murni dalam pellet. Level biomassa mikrobia masing-masing  perlakuan T0 (1,89), T1 (2,040), T2 (2,068) dan T3 (2,217). Kandungan protein murni pada masing-masing perlakuan adalah T0 (10,23%) T1 (12,40%), T2 (13,48%) dan T3 (13,94%). Simpulan penelitian adalah penambahan pollard berprobiotik dapat meningkatkan biomassa mikroba sehingga menyebabkan kadar protein kasar dan protein murni dalam pellet meningkat. Level kandungan protein kasar, protein murni dan biomassa mikrobia tertinggi pada perlakuan T3 masing-masing adalah16,42% ; 13,94% dan 2,217.Kata kunci :   pollard berprobiotik; pellet; protein kasar; protein murni; biomassa mikrobia. ABSTRACTThe research aimed to assess the quality of the pellets that was evaluated from the microbial biomass content, crude protein and pure protein. The research was designed with a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 4 replications. T0 as control there was no treatments containing probiotics pollard addition; T1, the addition pollard containing probiotics as much as 10%; T2, the addition pollard containing probiotics as much as 20%; and T3, additions pollard containing probiotics as much as 30%. Crude protein levels were analyzed using the Kjeldahl method, pure protein levels were analyzed by means of incubation and analyzed by the method Kjedahl and biomass were analyzed with a spectrophotometer and the results were tested by Anova. The results showed that the addition pollard containing probiotics are not significantly different (P> 5%) of the crude protein pellet T0 (15.32%), T1 (16.21%), T2 (16.28%) and T3 (16.42%). Addition pollard containing probiotics significantly with the level of significance of 5% (P <5%) of the microbial biomass content and pure protein in the pellet. Pure protein content in each treatment were T0 (10.23%), T1 (12.40%), T2 (13.48%) and T3 (13.94%). Microbial biomass levels respectively T0 (1.890), T1 (2.040), T2 (2.068) and T3 (2.217). The conclusions of this research is the addition pollard containing probiotics could enhance microbial biomass, causing levels of crude protein and purified protein in the pellet increases. The level of crude protein, purified protein and the best microbial biomass in the treatment T3 was 16.42% respectively; 13.94% and 2.217.Keywords: pollard containing probiotics; pellets; crude protein; purified protein; microbial biomass.

Abstract

The objective of research was to evaluate the quality of agricultural residues has been fermented with rumen contents buffalo reviewed of the decrease levels of NDF (Neutral Detergent Fiber) and ADF (Acid Detergent Fiber). The research has conducted in May and June 2012 in the Laboratory of Animal Feed Technology and Feed Science Laboratory, Department of Nutrition and Food Animals, Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Agriculture, Diponegoro University, Semarang. The material used in this study was the buffalo rumen contents, rice straw and corn straw. Research tools included: chopper, trays, plastic, scales, knives, pH meter, thermometer, label paper, tissue and apparatus for fiber analysis. Research used completely randomize design (CRD) 4x3 factorial with 3 replications. A factor is a combination of rice straw and corn are 100% 0% rice straw with corn straw (P), 50% rice straw with 50% corn straw (PJ), 0% to 100% rice straw corn straw (J). Factor B is the addition of buffalo rumen contents, there are 4 levels of 0% (R0), 5% (R5), 10% (R10), 15% (R15) and R0 as the control is 0% waste fermentation. Parameters measured were changes in the levels of fiber components NDF (Neutral Detergent Fiber) and ADF (Acid Detergent Fiber). The data was statistically processed by analysis of the range and if there is a significant effect of treatment was continued multiple regions Duncan test at 5% level. Results of the study showed a decrease in the levels of NDF and ADF in line with the increase in buffalo rumen contents. Lowest NDF levels obtained in 100% rice straw combined with 0% corn straw and given by buffalo rumen contents of 15%. The lowest ADF levels obtained in combination with rice straw 0% combined with 100% corn straw and given by buffalo rumen contents 15%.Keywords: NDF, ADF, rumen, fermentation, strawABSTRAKTujuan penelitian yaitu untuk mengeavaluasi kualitas hasil sisa pertanian yang difermentasi menggunakan isi rumen kerbau dengan dilihat dari penurunan kadar NDF (Neutral Detergent Fiber) dan ADF (Acid Detergent Fiber). Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Mei sampai Juni 2012 di Laboratorium Teknologi Makanan Ternak dan Laboratorium Ilmu Makanan Ternak, Jurusan Nutrisi dan Makanan Ternak, Fakultas Peternakan dan Pertanian Universitas Diponegoro, Semarang. Materi yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah isi rumen kerbau, jerami padi dan jerami jagung. Peralatan penelitian meliputi : chopper, nampan, plastik, timbangan, pisau, pH meter, termometer, kertas label, tissue dan peralatan untuk analisis serat. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) pola faktorial 4x3 dengan 3 kali ulangan. Faktor A adalah kombinasi jerami padi dan jagung yaitu 100% jerami padi dengan 0% jerami jagung (P), 50% jerami padi dengan 50% jerami jagung (PJ), 0% jerami padi dengan 100% jerami jagung (J). Faktor B adalah penambahan isi rumen kerbau terdapat 4 level yaitu 0% (R0), 5% (R5), 10% (R10), 15% (R15) dan R0 sebagai kontrol adalah limbah fermentasi 0%. Parameter yang diamati adalah perubahan komponen serat yaitu kadar NDF (Neutral Detergent Fiber) dan ADF (Acid Detergent Fiber). Data diolah secara statistik dengan analisis ragam dan jika terdapat pengaruh perlakuan yang nyata dilanjutkan uji wilayah ganda Duncan pada taraf 5%. Berdasarkan dari hasil penelitian menunjukkan penurunan terhadap kadar NDF dan ADF seiring dengan bertambahnya aras isi rumen kerbau. Kadar NDF terendah diperoleh pada kombinasi jerami padi 100% dengan jerami jagung 0% dan pemberian isi rumen kerbau 15%. Kadar ADF terendah diperoleh pada kombinasi jerami padi 0% dengan jerami jagung 100% dan pemberian isi rumen kerbau 15%.Kata Kunci : NDF, ADF, rumen, fermentasi, jerami

Abstract

ABSTRAK Pakan ceceran merupakan pakan yang berasal dari industri pakan yang tercecer selama proses pengolahan pakan berlangsung. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengevaluasi komposisi proksimat pakan ceceran yang difermentasi dengan penambahan starter Starfung level berbeda. Bahan yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah pakan ceceran, starter Starfung, aquadest. Alat yang digunakan adalah nampan, pengaduk, plastik, termometer, oven pengering, serta berbagai perlengkapan dalam analisis proksimat. Penelitian dilaksanakan menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) 4 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan. Perlakuan yang dicobakan adalah fermentasi dengan penambahan starter Starfung level berbeda sebagai berikut: T0 = pakan ceceran + starter Starfung 0%, T1 = pakan ceceran + starter Starfung 1%, T2 = pakan ceceran + starter Starfung 2% dan T3 = pakan ceceran + starter Starfung 3%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat pengaruh signifikan dalam penambahan Starfung level berbeda terhadap bahan kering, abu, lemak kasar, serat kasar dan bahan ekstrak tanpa nitrogen, tetapi berpengaruh nyata pada kandungan protein kasar. Perlakuan terbaik yaitu pada perlakuan fermentasi pakan ceceran dengan penambahan starter Starfung pada level 2%. Kata kunci: pakan ceceran; Starfung; fermentasi; uji proksimat  ABSTRACT Scattered feed is derived from the feed industries that scattered during the feed processing take place. The objective of this research was evaluate the fermentation effect from many different level of starfung on it’s nutrition contents. The material used on this research were scattered feed from collectors, Starfung, aquadest, tray, stirer, oven and various equipments in proximate analysis. Research was done in completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments were: T0 = scattered feed with 0% level of Starfung addition, T1 = fermented scattered feed with 1% level of Starfung addition, T2 = fermented scattered feed with 2% level of Starfung addition and T3 = fermented scattered feed with 3% level of Starfung addition. Result of the research showed that there was no significantly difference (p>0.05) on many different level of Starfung addition in dry matter, ash, extract ether, crude fiber and nitrogen-free extract contents, but the treatments showed significantly difference on crude protein (p<0.05). The best treatment is fermented scattered feed by 2% level of “starfung” addition. Key words: scattered feed; Starfung; proximate analysis

Abstract

Goat management in rural areas is still commonly done traditionally with little regard for health factors. One factor is the presence of parasitic worms in the goat's digestive tract which causes disturbed growth. The research aims to evaluate the effect of the addition of turmeric and multinutrient block plus (MNBP) in eliminating endoparasites and increasing feed intake of Jawarandu goats. The material used was 12 male Jawarandu goats weighing an average of 20 kg. A completely randomized design was used in this study with 4 treatments and 3 replications. Treatment T0: basal ration + MNBP; T1: T0 + 1% turmeric; T2: T0 + 3% turmeric; T3: T0 + 5% turmeric. The parameters observed were feed intake, weight gain, number of endoparasites and total eggs per gram of feces. Data analysis using analysis of variance significance level of 5% to determine the effect of treatment. If there is a treatment effect, it is followed by Duncan's multiple range test. The results showed a decrease in the number of endoparasites. The best treatment to induce an antibody system is T2 treatment, namely the addition of turmeric with a level of 3%. Feed intake was not significantly increasing although improving body weight gain in T2 and T3. The conclusion of the study is that the administration of MNBP and turmeric with a level of 5% has not been able to eliminate all endoparasites until the 28th day. MNBP and turmeric are useful as natural antioxidants. Increased level of turmeric can increase weight gain and immune system of goats. Abstract

In general, goat milk production is strongly influenced by the quality of feed given. This study aims to evaluate the type of forage fiber feed source that has an effect on quality of ettawah goat milk. The material used is 12 lactation crossbreed ettawah goat month 3rd. Feed given is concentrate and source of fiber (Pennisetum purpureum grass, Albizia chinensis leaves, Zea mays straw). The consumption of dry matter, milk production and milk fat content were observed as parameters. The results show that the combination of concentrate with Zea mays straw can increase milk fat content up to 0.9%. Milk production was not significantly different in each treatment. It was concluded that the combination of concentrate and Zea mays straw was recommended to increase the milk fat content of crossbreed ettawah goat.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mengkaji pengaruh penambahan ekstrak daun kersen dalam pengawetan tepung ikan rucah terhadap kualitas fisik organoleptiknya selama penyimpanan. Pengambilan ekstrak daun kersen dengan cara diekstraksi menggunakan metode sokletasi. Tepung ikan rucah diberi perlakuan A0 (tidak diberi ekstrak) dan A1 (diberi ekstrak daun kersen dengan perbandingan penambahan ekstrak 1 : 10 (v/w) dengan konsentrasi ekstrak yang digunakan 50%, dikemas dengan kemasan plastik polyethylene dan di simpan pada lama penyimpanan T0 (penyimpanan minggu ke -0), T1 (penyimpanan minggu ke-2) dan T2 (penyimpanan minggu ke – 4). Rancangan yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap pola faktorial 2×3 dengan 5 kali ulangan. Parameter yang diamati adalah uji organoleptik (tekstur, warna, aroma dan cemaran jamur). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan pemberian ekstrak dan lama penyimpanan berbeda nyata (P < 0,05) terhadap warna dan cemaran jamur namun tidak berbeda nyata (P > 0,05) terhadap tekstur dan aroma. Ekstrak daun kersen mampu mempertahankan kualitas fisik organoleptik dari aspek warna, tekstur dan aroma serta mampu menekan pertumbuhan jamur pada tepung ikan rucah yang dikemas dengan kemasan plastik polyethylene.

Abstract

Evaluation of metabolic energy value of roasted sorghum in culled laying chickens ABSTRACT. Tannin contained in sorghum can be reduced by using technology processing such as roasting. By using this way, husk of sorghum can be removed leading to decrease of tannin content which is reflected by the value of metabolism energy. The purpose of this experiment is to investigate the effect of roasted sorghum on metabolism energy of culled laying chickens. Measurement of metabolic energy as mathematic is used as comparison. The material used in his experiment was red sorghum, water, and 39 culled laying chickens. Equipment used in this experiment was balance, roasting tool, plastic, force feeding equipment, metabolism cages and bomb calori-meter. This experiment used completely randomized design consisting of 4 treatments and 4 replications (each replication 3 chickens). Treatment consisted of T0 = no roasted sorghum, T1 = roasted for 5 minutes and T2 = roasted for 10 minutes. Data collected were metabolism energy of roasted sorghum both biologically (force feeding) and mathematically (proximate analysis) at culled laying chickens. All data were statistically calculated, further statistically was conducted by using Duncan and compression of metabolism energy was calculated by using t-Test. The results show that, no statistically effect (p0, 05) on duration of roasting on metabolism energy of sorghum. Based on t-Test analysis, there was a significantly difference (p0, 05) between biological metabolism and mathematical metabolism. From this experiment, it can be concluded that 10 minutes of roasting cannot increase of sorghum metabolic energy. The average of biological metabolic was lower (3105, 94 kcal/kg) compared to the average of mathematical metabolic energy (3766, 82 kcal/kg).

Abstract

(The effect of supplementation and protection of kapok seed oil on in vitro ruminal fermentability of elephant grass) ABSTRACT. The purpose of this research was to study the interaction between supplementation and protection of kapok seed oil (KSO) influence on in vitro digestibility and ruminal fermentability products of elephant grass.  Material used were elephant grass, kapok seed oil, KOH and CaCl2 reagens and cattle rumen fluids.  Completely randomized design (CRD) was used with two factorial pattern 3 x 5 with 2 replications, first factor was supplementation of KSO consist of 3 levels: 5% (S1); 10% (S2); and 15% (S3), respectively.  Second factor was protection consist of 5 levels: 0% (P0); 25% (P1); 50% (P2); 75% (P3) and 100% (P4); also control treatment without supplementation and protection of KSO (S0P0).  The result of this research showed there was no interaction between supplementation and protection of KSO on digestibility of elephant grass.  The highest In vitro Dry Matter Digestibility (IVDMD) and In vitro Digestibility of Organic Material (IVDOM) reached by control treatment, 55,17% and 54,27%, respectively.  The results of this research showed influence of interaction between supplementation and protection of KSO on VFA and NH3 production (P0.05).  The highest VFA and NH3 production reached by 10% supplementation and 25% protection were 152,5 and 6,50 mM.  The conclusion of this study showed that supplementation and protection of KSO was not effecting ruminal fermentation, but decreasing in vitro digestibility of elephant grass.

Abstract

Study on the level of water content and particle size of feed ingredients to the physical appearance of wafer ABSTRACT. This study attempted wafer manufacturing technology development of conventional feed ingredients. The benefit of wafer increase feed consumption and feed efficiency, increase the metabolizable energy content of the feed, kill pathogenic bacteria, reduce the amount of feed scattered, extending the storage time, ensure the balance of feed nutrients and vitamins to prevent oxidation. Research was continuing several research activities on wafer manufacturing technology that has been done and continues to be developed by the researchers. The long term goal of a series of research is to obtain basic information to the wafer manufacturing optimum quality and measurable. Specific target is to obtain basic information about the quality of the wafer on the level of water content and the use of a certain particle size. The research method used was experimental and analytical methods in the laboratory. The results showed that based on the test of physical qualities (moisture content, density, water absorption) showed that the use of the level of moisture content up to 8% with a particle size of 10-20 mm feed material provides the best physical appearance of wafer.
