Abstract

Remanufacturing has become more prominent as a recovery process to mitigate the massive disposal of short life-cycle product at its end-of-use. However, remanufactured product is often perceived to be inferior to new product, and it has lower value in consumer’s willingness to pay. To increase the perceived quality of the remanufactured product, manufacturer offers a warranty, since one of the three roles possessed in warranty is being a signal to product reliability. This paper studies the pricing decisions and warranty level decision for new and remanufactured products in a closed-loop supply chain consists of a manufacturer and a retailer. The optimization modeling is performed under Stackelberg game with manufacturer as the leader. We found that higher expansion effectiveness coefficient would increase the supply chain profit. Also, there is an interval of demand’s speed of change, where the total profit would be at its highest. The optimum warranty level can be achieved regardless the initial warranty level set at the beginning of retailer’s optimization. Furthermore, the remanufactured product’s wholesale and retail prices are influenced by the expansion effectiveness coefficient.

Abstract

In this paper we consider single vendor single buyer integrated inventory model with probabilistic demand and equal delivery lot size. The model contributes to the current literature by relaxing the deterministic demand assumption which has been used for almost all integrated inventory models. The objective is to minimize expected total costs incurred by the vendor and the buyer. We develop effective iterative procedures for finding the optimal solution. Numerical examples are used to illustrate the benefit of integration. A sensitivity analysis is performed to explore the effect of key parameters on delivery lot size, safety factor, production lot size factor and the expected total cost. The results of the numerical examples indicate that our models can achieve a significant amount of savings. Finally, we compare the results of our proposed model with a simulation model. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia: Pada penelitian ini akan dikembangkan model gabungan pemasok-pembeli dengan permintaan probabilistik dan ukuran pengiriman sama. Pada model setiap lot pemesanan akan dikirim dalam beberapa lot pengiriman dan pemasok akan memproduksi barang dalam ukuran batch produksi yang merupakan kelipatan integer dari lot pengiriman. Dikembangkan pula suatu algoritma untuk menyelesaikan model matematis yang telah dibuat. Selain itu, pengaruh perubahan parameter terhadap perilaku model diteliti dengan analisis sensitivitas terhadap beberapa parameter kunci, seperti ukuran lot, stok pengaman dan total biaya persediaan. Abstract

Vendor managed consignment inventory (VMCI) adalah suatu strategi kolaborasi yang terjalin diantara pihak-pihak yang terkait dalam supply chain, dimana vendor sebagai supplier mempunyai wewenang untuk memutuskan order quantity yang harus dikirimkan ke buyernya serta menjadi pemilik barang tersebut sampai barang tersebut terjual atau dipakai. Integrasi pada sistem supply chain ini terjadi karena adanya information sharing dan business process reengineering. Pada penelitian ini akan dilakukan analisa keuntungan dari strategi vendor managed consignment inventory (VMCI) pada vendor tunggal multi retail jika permintaan konsumen bervariasi ditinjau dari minimasi total biaya yang dihasilkan. Pada penelitian ini dikembangkan algoritma untuk menyelesaikan model matematis yang telah dibuat. Selain itu, pada penelitian ini juga dilakukan analisa sensitivitas untuk mengetahui parameter yang meliputi biaya pesan vendor, biaya simpan vendor, biaya storage retail, biaya opportunity retail yang ditanggung vendor, biaya pesan retail, service level retail dan standar deviasi permintaan retail. Pada penelitian ini juga membandingkan model persediaan consignment dengan model Vendor Managed Consignment Inventory (VMCI). Percobaan numerik dari model ini menyatakan bahwa model VMCI lebih menguntungkan dibandingkan dengan model persediaan consignment.Kata Kunci: Vendor Managed Inventory, Consignment, Permintaan Probabilistik

Abstract

Coordination is important in industry, so this research try to observe coordination problem which appear at PT'X" and then give alternative of coordination system. The problem that is identified in this research are excess volume of inventory, bullwhip effect, and length of cash to cash cycle. Selling coordination system is proposed as information share from end customer to every stage of supply chain without distortion by forecasting process. Production coordination system is proposed as balancing of production output with actual demand to reduce inventory level without decrease customer servive level, and reduce risk of unsold product. Some pay of coordination systems is proposed by considering effect of cash to cash cycle time, free cash of capital, and product cycle at supply chain. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Koordinasi merupakan hal yang penting dalam suatu industri, oleh karena itu penelitian ini mencoba melihat permasalahan yang muncul dalam hal koordinasi pada PT 'X' dan kemudian memberikan alternatif sistem koordinasi. Permasalahan yang teridentifikasi antara lain tingginya tingkat inventory, variabilitas permintaan yang tinggi (bullwhip effect) dan cash to cash cycle time yang panjang dari sistem pembayaran. Bentuk koordinasi penjualan yang diperlukan adalah penyaluran informasi aktual dari permintaan konsumen akhir pada setiap tahapan di dalam supply chain tanpa adanya distorsi akibat proses peramalan. Koordinasi pada produksi yang diperlukan adalah penyesuaian output produksi dengan kebutuhan aktual pasar untuk mengurangi tingkat inventory tanpa mengurangi service level konsumen dan mengurangi risiko produk yang tidak terjual. Beberapa bentuk koordinasi pada sistem pembayaran diusulkan dengan mempertimbangkan pengaruh cash to cash cycle time, free cash of capital, dan kecepatan aliran produk pada supply chain. Kata kunci: supply chain, inventory, bullwhip effect, koordinasi sistem produksi, penjualan dan pembayaran.

Abstract

Procurement function in manufacturing organisations has played significantly more critical roles nowadays than in the past. The contribution of procurement function is much determined by how well the procurement management system is designed. A critical aspect of managing procurement function in order to optimise its contribution to the organisation is procurement portfolio, i.e., categorisation of items and then differentiation of procurement focus for different categories. This paper will discuss procurement portfolio as a basis for procurement manager to optimise the contribution of his/her function in supporting the organisation's objectives. The role of electronic procurement in each category of the portfolio will also be discussed.
