Abstract

The Air Hitam River was inhabit by numerous fish species, information on these fishhowever is almost none. To understand the composition of fish in that river, a study hasbeen conducted from February to March 2014. There were 3 sampling sites, in theupstream (S1), middle (S2) and downstream (S3) of the river. The fish was sampledusing several net types (mesh size 0.1 – 1.0 inch), electrofoshing and line fishing. Datawere then analyzed to find out the diversity (H’), evenness (E) and dominance (C)index. The fish sampled were identified based on Kottelat (2013). The fish speciespresent were consisted of 34 species (15 families). There were Notopterus notopterus,Cyclocheilichthys apogon, Desmopuntius gemellus, D. hexazona, Esomus metallicus,Hampala macrolepidota, Labiobarbus leptocheilus, Osteochillus vittatus, Parachelaoxygastroides, Rasbora argyrotaenia, R. einthovenii, R trilineata, Tynnichthyspolylepis, Trigonopoma gracile, Pterygoplichthys pardalis, Ompok rhadinurus,Pseudeutropius brachypopterus, P. moolenburghae, Mystus nigriceps,Hemirhamphodon pogonognathus, Poecilia reticulata, Monopterus javanensis,Pristolepis grooti, Oreochromis niloticus, Anabas testudineus, Helostoma temminckii,Belontia hasselti, Osphronemus goramy and Sphaerichthys osphromenoides,Trichopodus leerii, T. trichopterus, Trichopsis vittata, Channa lucius and C. striata. The most common fish was Pterygoplichthys pardalis that was present mainly in theS2. Trichopodus trichopterus and Trichopsis vittata were distributed evenly along theriver, as they were found in each sampling area (Fi 100%). In the Air Hitam River, thehighest H’ value (3. 671) and the highest E value (0.880) were in the upstream, whilethe highest C (0.476) was in the middle stream.Keyword: Freshwater fish composition, Air Hitam River, Pekanbaru, Riau

Abstract

The research about length frekuency distribution, length-weight relationshipand factor condition stripped flying barb in Tenayan and Tapung Mati River, RiauProvince have been conducted from May 2010 until April 2011. Fishes were caughtby floating net (2 x 5 m) and scoopnet (diameter 0,5 m). The fish samples werecollected every month, and fish collecting based on sensus method. The researchpurpose to know the biggest length frekuency distribution of stripped flying barb inthe nature population. Growth pattern and condition factor of stripped flying barb.Result shown that the population of stripped flying barb is dominate by lengthfrekuency distribution 41 – 50 mm, growth pattern of fish was allometric negativeand value condition factor of the female is the biggest than the male fishes.

Abstract

Tabingal fish (Puntioplites bulu Blkr) is a type of freshwater fish that commonly inhabit the Siak River, Riau. To understand the sex ratio and condition factor of this fish, a study has been conducted in April to October 2009. Total number of fish collected was 131. The sex ratio of this fish during the research period was almost constant (1:1), but the number of male was slightly higher than that of the female. Most of fish collected were 87-241 mm TL and they are categorized as undeveloped gonad fish. The factor condition was ranged from 1.21-1.50.

Abstract

Flooded swamp area around the Tapung Mati River is a habitat for many species ofendemic fishes in Riau. A studied to understand the types of freshwater fishes living inthat area has been conducted on June to July 2011. Fish samples were caught used ascoop net (0.5 m diameter) and the fish then identified based on Saanin (1984) danKottelat et al. (1993). In this research, the fish caught were consisted of 20 species thatwere belonged to 3 ordos, 10 families and 17 genus. Most of fish caught were Cyprinid(47,06 %) and the most common species are Esomus metallicus. Around 40 % of fishpresent in the flooded area of the Tapung Mati River are categorized as Sumatra’sprimary family and almost all species are the economically valued fish. African catfishand nile tilapia fishes are aquaculture fishes that escaped from ponds around the river. Keywords:Tapung Mati River, flooded area, freshwater fishes, Esomus metallicus, primary family

Abstract

Sibam River is one of black water rivers in Riau. It was inhabit by numerous fish species, but information on these fish is almost none. To understand the diversity of fish in that river, a study has been conducted from May to July 2015. There were 5 sampling areas, in the upstream (St I and II), middle (St III and IV) and downstream (St V) of the river. The fish was sampled using net (mesh size 0.5 cm inch), scoop net (mesh size 0.5 cm) and electrofishing. Data were then analyzed to find out the diversity (H’), evenness (E) and dominance (C) indexes. The fish sampled were identified based on Saanin (1984) and Kottelat (1993). The fish species present were consisted of 5 order, 16 families, 30 genus, and 41 species. The highest fish abundance was found in the ST III, and the most common species was Bagrichthys macracanthus. Osteochilus hasselti and Rasbora argyrotaenia were distributed evenly along the river, as they were found in each sampling area (Fi 100%). In the St I, II and V, the Diversity index values were high, while those in the St III and IV were medium. In all study areas the uniformity index values were high, while the dominance indexes were low. Keywords: Fish Diversity, Sibam River, Pekanbaru, Riau

Abstract

The Anambas archipelago is consist of several islands and there are many coral fish species present in the Anambas waters. Information on types and population of coral fish in that area, however, is limited. To understand the type of coral fish present in the Anambas waters, a study has been conducted from April to June 2015. There were 5 sampling sites, namely the Temawan, Pasir Manang, Arung Hijau, Biang Matak and Nawan Islands. Fish catching was done by using scoop nets and line fishings. Fish sampled were then identified based on Allen, et al (2003) and Kuiter and Tonozuka (2001). Results shown that the coral fish caught were belonged to 3 orders, 18 families, 34 genera and 53 species. The most common fish present were the member of Lutjanidae, Siganidae and Serranidae, there were L. decussatus, L. fulviflamma, L. sebae, C. boenak, S. puellus, S. spinus, S. virgatus, S. vulvinus and A. stellatus.Keyword: Coral fish, Anambas island, Kepulauan Riau

Abstract

Pterigoplihchtys pardalis is originated from South America, but it has been distributed evenly in many rivers in Indonesia. Information on length-length relationship is important for conducting research related to biological aspects and conservation of this fish. However, this information is rare. To get information on length-length relationship, a study has been conducted from February to May 2015. The fish was sampled from the Air Hitam River (St 1) and the Siak River (St 2). Totally 121 fish from the Air Hitam River and 112 fishes from the Siak River were used in this study. Body parts measured were the standard length and other characteristics such as the length, widht and height of the head; body height and peduncle’s length. Results shown that the relationship between body length and other body parts (r) is 0,918 – 0,986 for Air Hitam River and r = 0.889 – 0,992 for Siak River. It’s indicate that there is very significant relationship between body length and the length of other body parts.Key words: Pterigoplihchtys pardalis, length-length relationship, Air Hitam River , Siak River
