Abstract

The study of human factors is about understanding human behavior and performance. When applied to flight operations, human factors are used to optimize the relationship between humans and the system they work in to improve safety and performance. An overview of the effects of human factors in aviation and the importance of self-awareness will be explained in this training. Satisfactory training results were achieved by 16 people, 8 very good people, and 2 people with good credentials with the highest score range of 94.70 and the lowest score of 74.25.

Abstract

Aviation Safety Management System (SMS) is mandatory for 5 flight operators, one of which is the airport as mandated by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO Doc 9859, 2019). Palembang Aviation Polytechnic as a work unit in charge of providing training in aviation, through community service activities, implementing Safety Management System Training for 25 participants with different work backgrounds from UPBU Gusti Syamsir Alam, Kotabaru Regency, South Kalimantan Province. This training is given using lecture methods, project-based learning and group presentations. The training provides increased understanding in the field of the Safety Management System with the result of obtaining a comprehensive exam with 84.96 as the average score. 36% of participants successfully passed with honors, and 64% with Good honors.

Abstract

In realizing Airport Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) services at airport, it must be supported by competent and superior Human Resources (HR). Airport operators must ensure that all personnel employed at that airports receive adequate education and / or training to meet the airport personnel competency standards set by the Director General of Civil Aviation at PM 55 of 2015 concerning airports. To meet the requirements required by the regulation, Palembang Aviation Polytechnic as an organization engaged in education and training collaborates with the Batam Concession Agency in carrying out community service activities through ARFF recurrent basic training with 37 participants. The training aims to improve and refresh the skills and knowledge possessed by ARFF basic level personnel. All participants successfully passed with an average value of 81,10. Then, based on the results of the evaluation of the implementation of the training as well as a whole well.

Abstract

The target and output of this activity are to implement the Tridharma of Higher Education, community service for lecturers in the Palembang Aviation Polytechnic environment, South Sumatra. The activity method used is 1) religious lectures, namely spiritual guidance to the Aviation Polytechnic extended family and local residents; 2) The lecture in which the resource person explained to the Aviation Polytechnic extended family and local residents about the wisdom of sacrificing and following the shari'ah of Prophet Ibrahim AS, fostering awareness and participation of the Aviation Polytechnic family and local residents in fostering a love for others in the manifestation of gratitude and piety Allah SWT; and 3) evidence-based learning, in which the "sacrifices" and the implementation team were invited to work together on how to collect, slaughter, and distribute sacrificial animals. The results obtained from this activity can make the implementation team, the Aviation Polytechnic extended family, and residents 1) follow the shari'ah of Prophet Ibrahim AS; 2) Growing awareness and participation of Muslims (lecturers) in fostering a love for others in the manifestation of taqwa to Allah SWT; 3) Serve the community in strengthening ties of friendship to establish ukuwah Islamiah among residents.

Abstract

Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) is a part of the emergency response unit at the airport that has technical and operational standards set by the regulator. Given the importance of the role of ARFF in an airport, it is appropriate for ARFF unit to have competent personnel in their fields. This can be obtained through education and training organized by the Aviation Education Institute. One of the Basic ARFF training programs by Poltekbang Palembang overall went well and smoothly, with an average score of 83.46 (qualification: excellent) can be an indicator that the learning objectives have been achieved.

Abstract

The purpose of this community service activity is to provide education regarding efforts to prevent and overcome fire hazards at the Palembang Aviation Polytechnic to minimize the impact of losses caused by fires. The method used was technical guidance in the form of providing basic competence in early fire prevention by using 4 hours of classroom theoretical session and 4 hours of practical session in the field. Overall, this activity went well and smoothly, with the average satisfaction score of participants responses was categorized Very Good (A), indicated that the participants had a very positive response to prevent and control on fire hazard.

Abstract

The purpose of the activity is that the trainees are capable to conduct airport rescue and fire fighter (ARFF)  vehicle maintenance properly based on any related regulations and manuals The methods used are competency-based training, classroom session for theoretical learning process, and practical session with trainers and simulators for the fulfillment of ARFF personnel knowledge, skills, and attitudes. ARFF Vehicle Maintenance Technique Initial Training went well and smoothly, with an average evaluation score of 80,614 (qualification: good), indicated that the learning objectives have been achieved.

Abstract

This study aims to examine student learning attitudes towards e-learning as a learning medium in the pandemic era. This research begins with a survey as input for a quantitative approach. The collected data was then analysed and checked for validation using Pearson's correlation. The results showed that students were ready for class changes from face-to-face to e-learning and considered that e-learning was better in terms of presenting materials and assignments. 82% of students consider Online learning ensures the effectiveness for presenting the work in class. 62% of them respond to adjustments and mastery of technology and applications on computers and the internet can be handled properly so that it can be said that students have good digital competence. However, 50% of students still prefer face-to-face classes to virtual classes because they think face-to-face classes are better in interacting with teachers and friends.

Abstract

Fires are very common disasters found both on a small scale and on a large scale. However, there are still many people who still do not understand and have not been well educated about fire safety, so many of the ordinary people cannot do much if there is a fire in the area around them, as well as in public facilities. The purpose of this community service activity is to introduce the dangers of backdraft in fire events to ordinary people, especially high school and vocational high school students who are the next generation of young people in the nation so as not to cause casualties. The method used in these activities is a presentation delivered by the resource persons in this case are lecturers and cadets of the Aircraft Accident Relief study program and then continued with questions and answers with participants from senior high school and vocational high school from several region in Indonesia who have registered. This activity is carried out online through a video conferencing application. The result obtained from the activities is that participants gain knowledge related to the dangers of the "backdraft" by knowing what, how it happened, and how to avoid it, and what needs to be done so that there is no "backdraft" in the event of a fire. The introduction of "backdraft" activities in fire events is expected to minimize casualties from the general public when there is a "backdraft" in a fire event.

Abstract

This research aims to analyzethe hazards that exist at the end of runway 24 at Juwata Tarakan Airport.Then how to reduce the risks that exist in the area.The method that used for this research is the qualitative method. the data collection has been gained by observation, attendingdirectly into the field to analyze the hazards that exist at the end of the runway 24, depth interview with key informant, and document study on the accident historical data of the airport, respectively. Furthermore, the data was analyzed by risk management standardizationof AS/NZS 4360. Theresult show thatthe runwaypositionis near withthe road so it couldendanger motorists who pass on the highway. Moreover, therisk of jet blastbursts might cause an accident. After this research was carried out, a solution was obtained to reduce the existing risks by implementing a system of opening and closing traffic on the highway. In addition, it can also be done by diverting the flow of traffic on the highway.
