Abstract

This collaborative action research which was aimed to improve the quality of physics teaching through the implementation curriculum of 2004 in teaching scenario which oriented for process skill. This action research was conducted to the second year students of The State Senior High School 2 Mataram, by involving two teachers for giving the treatmen. The data needed such as observation result of teaching inthe class and the student response were collected by observation format of teaching in the class and questionnare. By using quantitative and qualitative analysis, it was found that 1) the implementation of process skill teaching can quality improvement of physic teaching in The State Senior High School 2 Mataram, 2) student's response for implementation of process skill teaching is good, 3) the student's opinion toward implementation of process skill teaching is quantitatively positive. Based on this result, it is recommended that physic teacher implement process skill teaching of teaching continuosly in order to improve student's achievement.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using the conflict cognitive strategies on students' cognitive learning achievements. This research is an experimental study using one group pretest-posttest design. The research sample was 35 students of class X MIPA 7 at SMAN 2 Mataram. The conflict cognitive strategies are conditioned in research on the subject matter of Regular Straight Motion and Regular Changed Straight Motion. Measurement of cognitive learning outcomes using test instruments and given to students as pretest and posttest. The test instrument was previously validated by 2 (two) validators on the content and construct aspects. The validation results show that the test instrument has been declared valid on the content and construct aspects with a validity (Va) level of 4.12 and 4.00. The results showed that students' cognitive learning achievements improved after learning using the conflict cognitive strategies (mean of 3.49) significant (p <0.05). These results are also supported by the results of n-gain analysis of cognitive learning achievements of students after learning with a value of 0.74 with a high category so that it is declared effective to improve students' cognitive learning achievements.

Abstract

This research aims to create and analyze a comprehensive science question model (Science Kafah) to enhance the quality of prospective teachers. The quality of prospective teachers refers to their comprehensive abilities in a specific science subject being taught. These abilities encompass conceptual understanding, religious connections, application, and meaningfulness. The research instrument consists of Science Kafah questions with various developed models. The analysis is conducted on the question models and individual items to assess validity, reliability, discrimination power, and difficulty index. The research findings reveal that the Science Kafah question model consists of 1) questions measuring conceptual understanding, 2) questions measuring religious abilities, 3) questions measuring application skills, 4) questions measuring meaningfulness, and 5) questions measuring social skills. Analysis of the instrument shows that out of the 25 tested questions, 20% were deemed inadequate, while 80% met the criteria for good questions. The Science Kafah question model can assess comprehensive abilities in science, its connection to religion, application skills (technology, engineering, environment, arts, and mathematics), and the meaningfulness of the taught concepts.
