Abstract

Introduction: On March 26, 2020, the government confirmed the first positive case of Covid19 in Padang City. This condition continues increasing, although several policies were created in preventing the spread of Covid19 . The geographical location of Padang City, which is close to the equator, causes the ambient temperature to be very optimum. It needs to be examined from the ambient temperature indicator, which is considered correlated with the spread of the coronavirus. Methods: This study used an ecological design. Spearman rank correlation test was carried out between daily temperature and daily cases due to Covid19 in one year to determine their correlation and test for time lag 0, 7, 14, and 21 according to coronavirus incubation. The cases of Covid19 data were obtained from the Padang City Health Office daily report, and the ambient temperature data were obtained from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency, Teluk Bayur Maritime Meteorology Station, Padang City. Results and Discussion: This study proves a significant negative correlation between minimum temperature (20.7°C - 26.5°C) with daily cases in all-time lags and average temperature (24.4°C - 29.3°C) with a daily case in time lag 7, 14, and 21. This range becomes a suitable temperature to reduce the transmission of Covid19 in Padang city. Conclusion: The optimum ambient temperature in the equatorial region is a factor in slowing the incubation of the coronavirus. Nevertheless, strict implementation of health protocols and efforts to trace contacts with positive Covid19 patients are still needed to prevent coronavirus transmission between humans.

Abstract

Water is a vital need in daily life. The need for drinking water for the community varies greatly. Pariaman City is one of the highest cities that use drinking water sources from Refill Drinking Water Depots (DAMIU), which is 56.1%. Based on laboratory tests on the quality of drinking water from DAMIU in Kota Pariaman, it shows that every year more than 50% of drinking water from DAMIU does not meet the health requirements and requirements for drinking water. This also occurs due to the low sanitation of drinking water depots. This activity aims to increase the knowledge of DAMIU owners or operators regarding sanitation hygiene. This activity was carried out in 30 DAMIU in Pariaman City. The method of activity is in the form of lectures, education, and giving posters for each DAMIU subject. Activity participants are DAMIU owners or operators who are on duty when the activity takes place. The increase in the knowledge of the target group was assessed using the pre-test and post-test methods regarding drinking water sanitation hygiene. Based on the results of activities based on the results of the pretest and post-test that have been carried out, there is an increase in the knowledge of DAMIU owners and operators regarding hygienic sanitation for drinking water, from 43.3% to 66.7%. From this activity, there was an increase in the target group's knowledge about hygiene and sanitation in this activity. It is hoped that the increase in knowledge of DAMIU owners and operators is followed by an increase in the quality of refill drinking water according to the required health standards.

Abstract

Gambir is a leading commodity from West Sumatra and has been processed for generations. Gambir farmers have not received attention in occupational health and safety (K3) services. In processing gambier, there are various occupational hazards to gambier farmers; if no preventive measures are taken, it can cause health problems due to work. Limited knowledge and the absence of health and safety guidance at work have caused Gambir farmers to consider the application of Work Safety and Health culture in their daily work not to be a concern. The purpose of this activity is to increase the knowledge and understanding of gambier farmers about the importance of applying the principles of Occupational Safety and Health in the workplace so that gambier farmers can avoid occupational hazards and risks. The activities were carried out in the form of Focus Group Discussions (FGD) and counseling on work safety, personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent hazards and risks of work accidents and occupational diseases for gambier farmers in Batang Kapas, Pesisir Selatan. The activity was effective, and the goal was achieved by increasing the insight of gambier farmers about the dangers and risks in the gambier processing process. The farmer groups who attended directly practiced personal protective equipment so that farmers' understanding of work safety was increased. It is hoped that there will be sustainable occupational health and safety development for gambier farmers and inter-sectoral collaboration.

Abstract
