Abstract

Chewing apple is often called the natural way to brush teeth, because apple has large particles that must be chewed again before swallowing, and also apple is fruits that contain fiber so that it encourages the secretion of saliva, the type of local apple which has the highest fibers content namely anna’s apple, where the most of fibers which was found in the fruit is also found on it’s skin. Problem: the high of plaque index score of grade IV-A students in Tambakwedi 508 Surabaya year 2019. The purpose of the study: to was known the effectivity of chewing anna’s apple which is peeled and non peeled to decrease plaque index. Research Methods: Which was used is pra experimental research, with a pre-posttest design group. Data collection methods by observation. Results of the study: Plaque index before and after chewing anna’s apple which is peeled of grade IV-A students in Tambakwedi 508 there was a decrease from the medium category to the good category, plaque index before and after chewing anna’s apple which is non peeled of grade IV-A students in Tambakwedi 508 there was a decrease from the medium category to the good category, there was difference the effectivity of chewing anna’s apple which is peeled and non peeled to decrease plaque index.

Abstract

Backgrounds : The most people still faces problem of cavities or caries. School age children is one of vulnerable to caries, because most still have knowledge and behavior that less against dental caries. The first molar permanent teeth are the most commonly carious teeth in children and teenagers. Problems in this study is the high prevalence of caries on the molar teeth first permanent students class I-VI at SDN Mojo III Surabaya in 2019. Objective : To analyze the relationship between the role of parents about first molar permanent eruption with prevalence caries first molar permanent students class I-VI at SDN Mojo III Surabaya in 2019. Methods : This research used analytical survey method with cross sectional approach, it means the study analyzed the relationship between variable without the treatment by researcher. Instrument used in this research was questionnaire to knowing the role of parents and to kowing caries of first molar permanent using the sheets. Technique of data analysis using SPSS program with Chi-Square test. Conclusion : There is correlation between the role of parents about first molar permanent eruption with prevalence caries first molar permanent students class I-VI at SDN Mojo III Surabaya in 2019

Abstract

Background: The majority of the Indonesian population already have good brushing behaviour, namely brushing their teeth every day. However, from this percentage only 2.8% brushed their teeth at the right time, namely at least twice after breakfast and before going to bed. Objective: To explain the knowledge and behaviour of brushing teeth in elementary school age children. Method: A literature review study of journal articles. The literature search was conducted from August to September 2020. Conclusions: The knowledge of brushing teeth for elementary school age children is in the sufficient category, which shows that elementary school age children have known the importance of brushing their teeth and brushing behaviour in elementary school age children, most children have brushed their teeth twice a day, but there are still children who brush their their teeth in the wrong time is at the same time as taking a bath because it is considered an easy and practical thing.

Abstract

Background: Periodontal tissue is the tissue that surrounds the tooth and function as a support, smoking behavior is one of the causes of health problems in the periodontal tissue. Such as gingivitis, periodontitis. Periodontal disease is a dental and oral health problem wich has a fairly high prevalence in the community of 95.58%. Objective: To determine the kinds of diseases in the periodontal tissue caused by smoking in Indonesian society. Methods: Systematic literature review, data sources was by searching articles from the Google Scholar database, PubMed, Garuda Jurnal. Results: From the results of 10 literature review articles, it is known that there are several diseases of the periodontal tissue caused by smoking, such as periodontitis gingivitis.

Abstract

Knowledge is the result of human sensing, or the result of someone knowing about objects through the senses they have, namely the senses of sight, smell, hearing, taste, and touch. Covid-19 is a disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 which infects the respiratory system. The spread of Covid-19 has the potential to trigger anxiety disorders in the community. The problem in this study is that data on the visitation of pediatric patients at the FDS Prapen dental clinic showed a decrease in the number of visits during the Covid-19 pandemic. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between parental knowledge about Covid-19 and the level of anxiety in taking their child to a pediatric dentist during the Covid-19 pandemic. This research method was a cross-sectional analytic research study design. The samples in this study were the parents of patients who took their children to the FDS Prapen clinic during the Covid-19 pandemic, with the amount of 40 respondents and the sample calculation used accidental sampling technique. The data collection method used was a questionnaire. Data analysis technique used the Rank Kendall's Tau test. The results showed that the knowledge of respondents about Covid was in (85%) good category and (92,5%) respondents did not experience anxiety when taking their children to a pediatric dentist during the Covid-19 pandemic. Analysed data showed (p=0,361),  it means p values > 0,05 it be conclude that there is no relationship between the level of knowledge about Covid with anxiety Level in Taking care the children dentist during Covid-19 pandemic. This research can be additional information for clinic dentistry especially in the management of patient care during the Covid-19 pandemic and for parents of patients who experience anxiety.

Abstract

Dental caries is a dental health problem that often occurs in elementary school students. During the pandemic, the face-to-face learning system became online learning, so that efforts to increase knowledge about dental and oral health can be carried out using video media and power points. This study aims to determine differences in the effectiveness of using video media and power point in online counseling to increase knowledge about dental caries in fifth grade students at SDN Wage 1 Sidoarjo during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research design was pretest-posttest with control group, which involved 70 students. The data collection instrument was a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using independent sample t test. The results of the study show that power point is more effective as an online extension medium.Keywords: dental health; knowledge; online counseling; videos; power point ABSTRAK Karies gigi merupakan masalah kesehatan gigi yang banyak terjadi pada siswa sekolah dasar. Dalam masa pandemi, sistem pembelajaran tatap muka menjadi pembelajaran online, sehingga upaya peningkatan pengetahuan tentang kesehatan gigi dan mulut dapat dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan media video dan power point. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan efektifitas penggunaan media video dan power point dalam penyuluhan online untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan tentang karies gigi pada siswa kelas V SDN Wage 1 Sidoarjo pada masa pandemi Covid-19. Rancangan penelitian ini adalah pretest-posttest with control group, yang melibatkan 70 siswa. Instrumen pengumpulan data adalah kuesioner. Data dianalisis menggunakan independent sample t test. Abstract

The proportion of Indonesians who have dental and oral problems at the age of 55-64 years is 61.9% and the age of >65 years is 54.2%. As well as the proportion of daily brushing behaviour, namely 94.7% and 2.8% have brushed their teeth twice a day. The problem of this study is the high prevalence of debris index in older adults in Tambak Wedi Baru Surabaya. The purpose of the study was to find out the relationship between of knowledge how to brush teeth and debris index in the older adults at Tambak Wedi Baru Surabaya. The type of research is cross-sectional with the number of respondents being 50 older adults. Research method by filling out observation sheets. The data analysis technique used is by tapping the results of data that has been collected and presented in the form of tables. The results showed that there is a relationship between knowing how to brush teeth with dental hygiene in older adults.

Abstract

Background: Mentally retarded children are identified as having a low level of intelligence. Mentally retarded children are one of the criteria with the most people who are vulnerable to exposure to disease. Mental retardation usually has a higher prevalence of caries, gingivitis and periodontal disease compared to children of the same age. The 2018 Riskesdas results explain that the proportion of dental and oral problems in Indonesia has increased from 23.2% in 2007 to 57.6%, so counselling is needed for dental and oral health with aids or media that can attract children's interest. Research Objectives: To know the effectiveness of video media in increasing knowledge about caries in children with mild mental retardation at Putra Mandiri SLB. Research Methods: Using a Quasi-Experimental design with a Control Group Pre-Test – Post-Test design. Data analysis: Using a simple random sampling technique or taking samples from the population taken randomly with a population of 25 students and a sample of 24 students. Data Collection Method: Observing the results of counselling with video media in increasing caries knowledge in children with mild mental retardation using a questionnaire. Research Results: There is a significant effect of providing video media interventions on increasing the knowledge of mentally retarded children. Conclusion: Health education with video media about dental caries is effective in increasing the knowledge of children with mild mental retardation.

Abstract

Dental caries is a multifactorial disease, covering the main factors of teeth, microorganisms, carbohydrates and time as additional factors. One of the factors causing the susceptibility of school-age children to dental caries is the habit of consuming foods that are sticky and contain sugar. The problem in this study is the high rate of dental caries in grade II students of SDN Mojo VIII/227 Surabaya. This study aims to determine the relationship between the frequency of cariogenic food consumption and the number of dental caries in grade II students at SDN Mojo VIII/227 Surabaya. This type of research is cross-sectional analytics. The sample in this study was 40 people, and it was taken by purposive sampling. The method of collecting its data uses a questionnaire. The analysis technique uses Kendall's test. The results of the study found that there was a significant relationship between the frequency of cariogenic food consumption and the number of dental caries in grade II students at SDN Mojo VIII / 227 Surabaya.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The prevalence of disability continues to increase. In 2003 there were 0.9% of all children in Indonesia with disabilities, in 2006 there were 1.38% of all children in Indonesia with disabilities and the peak in 2012 was 2.45% of all children in Indonesia. Children with disabilities are vulnerable and prone to exposure to diseases and threats. According to the 2011 Social Protection Programme (PPLS), there were 32,990 children with disabilities from poor families. Disability is defined as the physical inability of the body to perform normal bodily functions. Teacher empowerment is very important because through teacher empowerment, teachers will gain new knowledge, new ideas in achieving the learning process. Through teacher empowerment activities on the importance of maintaining oral hygiene in students with disabilities will motivate teachers to further increase the importance of maintaining oral hygiene in students with disabilities. Research Objectives: This study is to analyse the effect of improving oral hygiene maintenance through teacher empowerment on reducing the debris index of children with disabilities. Research Methods: The type of research used is Analytical Quasi Experiment. The targets in the study were all SLB D/YPAC teachers. Data collection methods using questionnaires and observation. Data analysis technique using chi square statistical test. The results of the study showed that there was an effect of knowledge and attitude of maintaining oral hygiene through teacher empowerment on reducing the debris index of children in SLB-D YPAC Surabaya.
