Abstract

Pendidikan karakter menjadi salah satu poin penting yang harus diperhatikan oleh semua level sekolah di Indonesia. Ini menyebabkan integrasi pendidikan karakter di dalam kelas mendapat perhatian. Keberhasilan penerapan pendidikan karakter di sekolah dipengaruhi oleh banyak faktor.  Salah satunya adalah kemampuan guru dalam mengelola kelas. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan guru mengimplementasikan gaya kepemimpinan tertentu untuk dapat mendorong murid menjadi lebih disiplin. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah pelatihan langsung di dalam kelas untuk guru SMP Sinar Husni. Kegiatan diikuti oleh 20 orang murid SMP kelas VIII. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah guru termotivasi untuk meningkatkan kualitas dirinya dalam mengelola kelas sehingga para guru dapat mempersiapkan diri sebelum pertemuan di kelas berlangsung. Respon yang baik dari murid SMP kelas VIII dimana mereka tidak merasakan kebosanan dalam mempelajari materi di kelas. Kesimpulannya adalah murid memberikan respon yang positif dengan komunikasi yang baik dan menunjukkan sikap disiplin serta tertib terhadap keterampilan kepemimpinan guru dalam mengelola kelas

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian adalah adanya hasil analisis mendalam tentang peran budaya sekolah di lingkungan sekolah dan masyarakat pada pembentukan karakter siswa. Penelitian berfokus pada proses pembentukan karakter siswa dan sub fokus peran budaya sekolah. Tempat penelitian diadakan di SMK Pelayaran Samudera Indonesia (Samin) - Medan dengan menggunakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif berupaya memberikan solusi bagaimana pendidikan karakter di sekolah. Budaya sekolah mengandung nilai-nilai karakter yang diharapkan dapat melekat dalam keseharian siswa SMK Samin. Nilai-nilai karakter tersebut diterapkan di lingkungan sekolah baik di dalam maupun di luar kelas.

Abstract

Cross cultural understanding is one of the courses that require lecturers' creativity in their teaching in the classroom. Students difficulties in understanding cross cultural until they can feel the cultural confusion experienced by a stranger who enters a region that has a different culture with him/ her. The purpose of this study is to get the best method used in course learning cross cultural understanding. The method used is research literature by comparing and analyzing some cross-cultural understanding of learning methods in several past studies. The results of this study are 1) The used learning method must involve students in the foreign culture studied; 2) Internet is one of the best learning media in the process of learning cross cultural understanding; 3) Students at least understand the language of the culture studied. The conclusion of this study is that cross cultural understanding learning is not easy to do if it only provides theory because students need an in-depth understanding of the cross-cultural process which experienced by someone.

Abstract

This study aims to get answers as a result of an in-depth analysis of the role of teacher leadership in the classroom in the formation of student characters. The focus of this research is the formation of student character and sub focus is the role of teacher leadership. This research was conducted at SMK Pelayaran Samudera Indonesia - Medan by using qualitative approach and research method was case study. This study was conducted based on data obtained from the grand tour results and the results of some previous research on teacher leadership and its relevance to the formation of character education students. The result of this research was teacher leadership is very influential on student character formation.

Abstract

This community service activity provides a deep meaning about humans as social beings who sometimes need a social environment, meeting with friends and teachers where learning effectiveness can be achieved with the help of others around us. This community service activity has the theme "Implementation of Character Education in English Learning Using the Blended Learning Method" at Al Ihsan Mulia Private Junior High School - Medan. The results of this activity showed that 31.25% (± 10 participants) preferred the blended learning method, and 68.75 (± 22 participants) preferred the offline (face-to-face) learning method. All students (100% of participants) stated that the facilities that support online learning must be adequate if blended learning methods are applied in the classroom. From this activity, it can be concluded that blended learning will be very effective if the facilities owned by the teacher and students support the continuity of the class. ABSTRAKKegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang dilakukan ini memberikan makna mendalam tentang manusia sebagai makhluk sosial yang kadangkala membutuhkan lingkugan sosial, bertemu dengan teman-teman dan guru dimana efektivitas pembelajaran dapat tercapai dengan bantuan orang lain di sekitar kita. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini memiliki tema “Implementasi Pendidikan Karakter Dalam Pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris Dengan Metode Blended Learning” di SMP Swasta Al Ihsan Mulia – Medan. Hasil dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa 31.25% (± 10 peserta) lebih menyukai metode blended learning, dan 68.75 (± 22 peserta) lebih menyukai metode pembelajaran offline (tatap muka). Seluruh siswa/siswi (100% peserta) menyatakan bahwa fasilitas yang mendukung pembelajaran online harus memadai jika diberlakukan metode blended learning di dalam kelas. Dari kegiatan ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa blended learning akan menjadi sangat efektif jika fasilitas yang dimiliki oleh pengajar dan murid mendukung keberlangsungan kelas tersebut.

Abstract

The implementation of learning in the current situation can be carried out using online learning as part of the methodology to answer the educational challenges caused by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. The role of technology in the online learning process in previous research studies has made it a major and important factor for successful learning in this emergency situation. This study aimed to investigate a philosophical perspective using the critical realism paradigm regarding the role of technology in online learning practices based on e-learning systems and justice in social interaction in aspects of learning implementation during the COVID-19 pandemic. This was a qualitative method with a critical realism approach. The results indicated that several critical arguments exist to rebalance the role of technology back to its origin, which is not a major factor, but a factor that still requires support from personal factors, personal behavior, and teacher readiness in facing technological developments. The findings of the study can be used to implement technology-based online learning while keeping practical and social justice in mind for both students and teachers.
