Abstract

The program for fattening and breeding of fat-tailed sheep (EG) in Semanding District, Tuban Regency, was collaboration work among Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of Universitas Airlangga, Gemah Ripah, and Mandiri’s Breeding Coomunity, Tuban Regency. The program was conducted by veterinarians, who are experts in animal reproduction, animal feeding and health, camping and its sanitation, assisted by local people. The activities included training on livestock breeding, demonstration of animal feeding and caging, vaccination, livestock maintenance at pre- and post-production, and also the health examination and treatment of sick fat-tailed sheep. There was also presentation about medicines used for animal fattening, i.e. Bio-N-Plus, Premix Minerals, and vitamin B-Complex. These drugs were given to the participants to accelerate the cattle growth. In addition, a simulation on how to breed fat-tailed sheep was also demonstrated to the participants. At the end of the program, a package was given to Gemah Ripah dan Mandiri’s Breeding Community. It consisted of six fat-tailed sheep, 3 quintals of concentrate feeds used for about four months feeding, the money for renovating the animal cages, vitamins, medicines, and vaccines. This training program was successfully increased the ability of participants, Gemah Ripah and Mandiri’s Breeding Coomunity, to breed the fat-tailed sheep in a relatively good way. It was supported by the facts that the cattle had increased body weights and there was no observed risk of sickness and animal death. AbstrakProgram penggemukan dan budidaya ternak domba ekor gemuk (EG) di Kecamatan Semanding, Kabupaten Tuban merupakan bentuk kerja sama antara Lembaga Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat Universitas Airlangga dengan Kelompok Ternak Gemah Ripah dan Mandiri, Tuban. Pelaksanaan program ini melibatkan dokter hewan, yang merupakan ahli reproduksi, ahli pakan ternak, ahli kesehatan ternak serta ahli sanitasi dan perkandangan, serta dibantu oleh tenaga lokal. Kegiatan yang dilakukan antara lain meliputi: pelatihan budidaya ternak domba EG, peragaan pembuatan pakan dan kandang, pemberian vaksin, pemeliharaan pra- dan pasca- produksi, serta pemeriksaan dan pengobatan domba yang sakit. Pada kesempatan ini, juga diperkenalkan obat untuk penggemukan domba, yaitu: Bio-N-Plus, Premix Mineral, dan vitamin B-Kompleks. Bahan tersebut diberikan dengan tujuan untuk mempercepat pertumbuhan domba. Selain itu, juga dilakukan simulasi beternak domba EG bagi para peternak. Pada akhir pelatihan telah diberikan paket ternak domba EG kepada kelompok peternak Gemah Ripah Dan Mandiri, yaitu berupa: 6 ekor domba EG, 3 kwintal pakan konsentrat yang bisa digunakan untuk empat bulan, biaya renovasi kandang domba EG, serta vitamin, obat-obatan, dan vaksin. Dari hasil pelaksanaan program ini, para peternak telah berhasil memelihara domba EG dengan cara yang lebih baik dengan tanda pertumbuhan berat badan ternak yang semakin meningkat, serta tidak ada resiko sakit dan kematian hewan ternak.

Abstract

The experiment was conducted the potential of antiibody sperm to spermatogenesis and fertility of the male rat. Ten of rat testis have been used in this research, then crushed and added with 10 cc saline and then were filtrated and centrifuged 1800 rpm for ten minutes. Twenty four of the male rat divided in to four groups. Group I: injected with saline 0.1 cc/sc/day for 45 days; group II: injected with testis suspension 0.1 cc/sc/day for 15 days; group III: injected with testis suspension 0.1 cc/sc/days for 30 days; group IV: injected with testis suspension 0.1 cc /sc/days for 45 days. Then each of the male rat were mated with female, then the number of the total of pups were counted. Male rat were killed and testis were collected for preparation of histology and count of the spermatocyte and spermatid. The results show that the number of the spermatocyte and spermatid has significant different in the group and control (p < 0.05). The number of the pups significantly different in the group and control (p < 0.05). Implication of this research was injected Antibodisperm on male rat can decrease of the number of spermatocyte, spermatid and the number of the pups.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know the effect of insemination time on motility and viability of spermatozoa in egg yolk tris diluter post insemination of goat. In this research 20 female goats was used and divided into two groups and synchronized with PGF2 alfa. If sign of oestrus appeared, then goats in group I, were inseminated with semen from buck diluted with egg yolk tris at the beginning of oestrus and group II inseminated with semen from buck diluted with egg yolk tris at the mid oestrus. Semen was collected from cervical canal of goats at one, two, 3, 6, or 24 hours after insemination for evaluating its motility and viability. Implication of this research is indicate that artificial insemination can be conducted in the early also the mid oestrus of goat.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh tepung kedelai dalam formulasi makanan terhadap cedera caecum dan perubahan jumlah sel piala yang terpajan koksidiosis caecal broiler. Dua puluh ayam broiler pada umur 15 hari diacak menjadi 4 kelompok perlakuan. P0 diberi makan basal dan tidak terinfeksi E. tenella . P1 diberi makan basal ditambahkan dengan tepung kedelai 35% dan tidak terinfeksi E. tenella. P2 diberi makan basal dan terinfeksi. Basal yang diberi makan P3 menambahkan 35% tepung kedelai dan terinfeksi. Data yang diperoleh dari skor lession dianalisis dengan uji Kruskall Wallis, sedangkan data jumlah sel piala dianalisis dengan ANOVA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tepung kedelai mengurangi skor lesi cecal (p> 0,05) dan tidak berpengaruh pada peningkatan jumlah sel cecal goblet (p> 0,05) ayam broiler yang terinfeksi coccidia.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan prevalensi dan derajat infeksi cacing saluran pencernaan pada itik petelur di dua kondisi lingkungan yang berbeda. Sampel feses diperiksa dengan metode sedimentasi dan metode apung kemudian dilanjutkan dengan menghitung telur cacing per gram tinja dengan metode Mc Master. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa 22,9% (8/35) itik petelur di Dusun Keper terinfeksi oleh Capillaria sp., dan Echinostoma revolutum, dengan rata-rata derajat infeksi sebsar 52,50 ± 41,662, sedangkan 31,4% (11/35) itik petelur di Dusun Markolak terinfeksi oleh Capillaria sp., Echinostoma revolutum, dan cacing dari kelas cestoda, dengan rata-rata derajat infeksi sebesar 155,45 ± 166,395. Infeksi bersifat tunggal maupun campuran. Analisis terhadap prevalensi dan derajat infeksi cacing saluran pencernaan itik petelur menunujukkan hasil yang tidak signifikan (p>0,05) antara Dusun Keper dan Dusun Markolak.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the effect of crude protein tyrosine kinase (PTK) isolates supplementation into skim milk-egg yolk based diluent to maintain the quality of Merino ram spermatozoa.  Four ejaculates of two Merino rams were divided into two groups for the control group (P0): Merino ram semen was diluted in skimmed milk-egg yolk based diluent, and the treatment group (P1): Merino ram semen was diluted in skim milk-egg yolk based diluent contained crude PTK 1,597 mg/ml diluent. All diluted semen was equilibrated for 2 hours at 5 °C and filled into 0.25 mL French straws. The filled straws were placed on steel racks (Cooltop, Minitube) held in liquid nitrogen vapour for 10 minutes at –140 °C, immersed immediately in liquid nitrogen at –196 °C, and stored for 48 hours for  later assessment. Post-thawed semen samples were evaluated for spermatozoa motility, viability, and morphological abnormality. The results showed that the spermatozoa motility of fresh semen of Merino ram was 82.5 ± 2.89, which was qualified for freezing. The post-thawing spermatozoa motility, viability, and morphological abnormalities of Merino ram in the P1 group were 34.11 ± 3.26%, 38.00 ± 3.00%, and 12.89 ± 4.54%, respectively. It were higher (p <0.05) than the control group of 24.44 ± 2.9%, 26.67 ± 3.32%, and 21.11 ± 3.02%. It was concluded that the addition of crude PTK isolates of 1.597 mg/ml skim milk-egg yolk diluent improved the quality of post-thawed spermatozoa of Merino ram.

Abstract

This research was conducted in the teaching farm of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universitas Airlangga. The present study aimed to determine the effect of age, temperature, and humidity on bull semen quality which was processed into frozen semen. Three age groups of bulls (young 3-4 years, middle age 5-6 years, and old 7-8 years) were collected for the temperature and humidity of semen examination. Fresh semen was collected using an artificial vagina, followed by macroscopic and microscopic examination. In addition, post-thawing motility was also evaluated. The results showed that there was no effect of temperature and humidity during semen collection process. Fresh semen quality was affected by age. Moreover, the post-thawing motility of fresh semen of spermatozoa was lower than those of the fresh semen; however, it still qualifies for artificial insemination. It could be concluded that the semen of bulls at the Teaching Farm of Universitas Airlangga has good quality, and is suitable for Artificial Insemination.

Abstract

Repeat Breeding is an adult cattle which have normal estrous cycle and clear signs of estrous but did not get pregnant when it got breed by natural mating or artificial insemination. The main purposes of this study is to know the number of repeat breeding cases in beef cattle in regency Jombang period of 2015-2018. The metode of the study is survey which collected by recording and survey. Were analyzed though Normality Test (Kolmogorov-Smirnov Test) and Homogenity Test and followed by T Test. Questionnaire test result processed using Kendall’s Tau-b Correlation Test. Study result showed that repeat breeding cases fluctuate significantly per year and the factors affecting fertilization failure and early embrionic death, hormonal, infection, and management factors.
