Abstract

Introduction: Blended learning is assumed to improve the students’ understanding of learning at nursing school especially in the current industrial revolution 4.0 era.  The combination of classroom and online activities is expected to provide better study outcomes.  This research aimed to compare the knowledge scores of the nursing students in blended learning concerning a research and statistics course at a private faculty of nursing.Methods: The knowledge scores resulted from the student’s score in their mid and final examinations (0-100). A total of 474 respondents who were third year students involved in the study.  This study applied a pre-experimental design. Due to the data having a significant non-normal value (p value < 0.001), this study further compared the mean-rank of the students’ score using a Wilcoxon test analysis.Results: The results of this study revealed that there was a significant difference (p value < 0.0001) between the students’ score in the mid (Median 72.5; SD 9.82) and final exam examinations (Median 86.66; SD 4.75). This means that the students had a better score in their final exam.Conclusion: Applying a blended learning method was a positive experience for the nursing students in terms of knowledge. It is needed to explore the students’ understanding and interest in their learning process using blended learning.

Abstract

Language or communication barriers generally occur between patients and medical personnel who have different native languages. Language or communication barriers can negatively impact medical care and the ongoing relationship between patients, providers, and facilities. Language barrier problems can be overcome by using interpreters and it is noted that patients with LEP (Limited English Proficiency) admit to experiencing increased satisfaction when using interpreters rather than not using interpreters. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of language barriers on the level of patient satisfaction from various article sources. A number of databases were used including Google Scholar, EBSCO, PubMed, and ProQuest. The inclusion criteria of this study were fulltext articles, in Indonesian and English, with the year of publication in the last ten years (2009 - 2019), only only articles that discussed patient satisfaction. The exclusion criteria were literature review, level of service quality, and level of security. This study applied the critical appraisal developed by Woolliams. A simplified approach by Aveyard was used as a method of this study. Ten articles were included in this study with eight articles revealing language barriers were influenced by the level of patient satisfaction and two articles showed language barriers had no effect. In addition, language barriers can be overcome using interpreters. However, the use of an interpreter is not able to solve the problem of language barriers that affect the level of patient satisfaction.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Hambatan bahasa atau komunikasi umumnya terjadi antara pasien dan tenaga medis yang memiliki bahasa asli yang berbeda. Hambatan bahasa atau komunikasi dapat berdampak negatif terhadap perawatan medis serta hubungan yang berkelanjutan antara pasien, penyedia, dan fasilitas. Masalah hambatan bahasa dapat diatasi dengan menggunakan interpreter dan hasil menunjukkan bahwa pasien dengan LEP mengakui mengalami peningkatan kepuasan saat menggunakan interpreter daripada tidak menggunakan interpreter. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis pengaruh hambatan bahasa terhadap tingkat kepuasan pasien dari berbagai sumber artikel. Database yang digunakan yakni Google Scholar, EBSCO, PubMed dan tambahan database yaitu ProQuest. Kriteria inklusi yakni artikel dalam bentuk full text, artikel menggunakan bahasa Indonesia dan bahasa Inggris, tahun penerbitan dalam sepuluh tahun terakhir (2009 – 2019), hanya tentang tingkat kepuasan pasien. Kriteria eksklusi yakni literature review, tingkat kualitas pelayanan, tingkat keamanan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pengkajian kritik yang dikembangkan oleh Woolliams. Metode pendekatan dengan simplified approach oleh Aveyard digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Terdapat sepuluh artikel dalam penelitian ini dengan delapan artikel menyatakan hambatan bahasa berpengaruh terhadap tingkat kepuasan pasien dan dua artikel menyatakan hambatan bahasa tidak berpengaruh. Selain itu, hambatan bahasa dapat diatasi dengan penggunaan interpreter. Namun penggunaan interpretertidak mampu menyelesaikan permasalahan hambatan bahasa yang berpengaruh terhadap tingkat kepuasan pasien.

Abstract

To improve the quality of online learning in Indonesia higher education, Faculty of Nursing (FoN), Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) supported by the Directorate of Higher Education in Indonesia that known as DIKTI developed an online course named Family Nursing. The course is a community nursing course in regard with the care of family nursing and it discusses the concept of family, family health, and the concept of a wellness family. The course was developed to achieve the mission of equitable access to information, relevance, and improvement of the quality of higher education throughout Indonesia, especially in nursing education. The online course was offered in one private nursing school in Jakarta area that never had any online course nor using online learning method in the delivery of their subjects. The aim of this report was to describe students’ experiences in an online course. This paper reports on the evaluation work of one semester online/blended learning project funded by DIKTI. Sixty five students, who experienced the online/blended learning method for the first time, were enrolled in the online course. The students have agreed to fill an evaluation online form after their mid semester exam. The evaluation form consisted of closed- and openended questions. This report revealed that most students (> 70%) agreed that their experience on the online (blended) learning was positive. However, it should be noted that, a quarter of students (27-28%) had less motivation to do the independent learning and perceived that the online learning was a learning experience that lack of support in developing their critical thinking. Several important themes further emerged including students’ issues (lack of knowledge and motivation), teaching-learning process issues (lack of facilities and clarity) and academic staff issues (minimal feedback and different perceptions between academic staff and students). Though online/blended learning can be employed to support nursing and healthcare education, there is limited appreciation of students' experience and the use of e-learning. Context is also being considered as an important part when applying the online/blended learning, thus, this report provides a new understanding of students’ opinions on their first experience when engaging with online learning at a private nursing school. This report further provides a number of inhibiting factors continue to affect the student experience.

Abstract

Admission or early assessment is an early stage in the nursing process. Assessment should be done systematically by collecting individual data comprehensively and holistically including assessment of biological, psychological, social, and spiritual. This assessment is important for both patients’ condition and nurses’ performance. The assessment should be completed within 24 hours after the patient admitted in the room. A complete and proper admission assessment will help and facilitate the nurse to determine nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The purpose of this research was to describe nursing perception in completing admission or early assessment of new patients. Data was collected using the interview method using a handphone for recording. The participant of this research was all nurses at the inpatient ward in one private hospital in Indonesia. The sample of this study used a purposive sampling with inclusion criteria such as a bachelor education background and at least one- year work experience. This study was recruited, twelve nurses. Data analysis was applied by the reduction of the data using the thematic analytical process. Two themes emerged in this study including assessment implementation by nurses and the importance of conducting the assessment. BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRAK: Pengkajian awal merupakan tahap awal dalam proses keperawatan. Pengkajian harus dilakukan secara sistematis dengan mengumpulkan data individu secara komprehensif dan holistik yang meliputi biologis, psikologis, sosial dan spiritual. Pengkajian awal merupakan hal yang penting dilakukan perawat dan harus selesai dalam 24 jam setelah pasien masuk ke ruangan. Dengan pengkajian awal yang lengkap dan dilakukan dengan benar akan membantu dan mempermudah perawat untuk menentukan diagnosa, perencanaan, pelaksanaan dan evaluasi keperawatan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menggambarkan persepsi perawat melengkapi pengkajian awal pasien baru. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan melakukan wawancara secara semi-struktur yang direkam menggunakan handphone. Partisipan adalah perawat rawat inap di satu rumah sakit swasta di Indonesia dengan latar pendidikan S1 Keperawatan dengan pengalaman kerja minimal satu tahun di Rumah Sakit Swasta di Indonesia Tengah. Sampel penelitian ini diambil menggunakan purposive sampling dengan kriteria inklusi perawat dengan latar belakang pendididikan sarjana dan mempunyai pengalaman kerja minimal satu tahun. Penelian ini merekruit 12 orang perawat. Analisis data dilakukan dengan cara reduksi data dengan menggunakan proses analisis tematik. Hasil penelitian ini diperoleh dua tema yaitu pelaksanaan pengkajian awal oleh perawat dan pentingnya melakukan pengkajian awal. Penelitian selanjutnya diharapkan dapat menggali lagi tentang pentingnya ketersediaan penerjemah dalam mendukung pengkajian awal di ruang rawat inap.

Abstract

Though blended learning has been applied in nursing schools in Indonesia, the number of studies with regards to students’ motivation and self-readiness in their courses is still lacking. In addition, many student nurses claimed that the Research and Statistics course was more difficult than other nursing courses. This study aimed to assess the nursing students’ motivation and self-learning readiness of blended learning in a Research and Statistics course of the Faculty of Nursing at Universitas Pelita Harapan. The preliminary study recruited forty nursing students for validity and reliability test purposes. Two questionnaires were translated and tested including the adapted Academic Motivation Scale and the adapted Self-Directed Learning Readiness Scale for Nursing Education. Both Cronbach’s alphas of the questionnaires were above 0.8 (good reliability), however some questions were revised based on its validity test results and its readability. A total of 181 students were involved in the study and descriptive statistics were applied in the data analysis. The findings showed that nursing students had relatively moderate self-directed learning readiness (mean 90.18). With regards to academic motivation, students’ intrinsic motivation to know (mean 3.35) was higher than in other subdimensions of academic motivation. It also means that most of the students felt happy while learning and exploring something new in the course. In conclusion, motivation and self-learning readiness of students are important when applied to a blended course. It is recommended that nurse educators should identify students’ motivation and self-learning readiness to provide student-centered learning especially in a Research and Statistics course. Further research may involve more universities in different regions of Indonesia.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRAK: Meskipun blended learning telah diterapkan di pendidikan keperawatan di Indonesia, sejumlah studi berkaitan dengan motivasi dan kesiapan diri mahasiswa dalam pembelajaran mereka masih kurang. Selain itu, banyak mahasiswa perawat mengklaim bahwa mata kuliah Penelitian dan Statistik lebih sulit daripada mata kuliah keperawatan lainnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi motivasi mahasiswa keperawatan dan kesiapan belajar sendiri dalam mata kuliah Penelitian dan Statistik dengan blended learning di Fakultas Keperawatan Universitas Pelita Harapan. Studi pendahuluan merekrut empat puluh mahasiswa keperawatan untuk keperluan uji validitas dan reliabilitas. Dua kuesioner diterjemahkan dan diuji yaitu Skala Motivasi Akademik dan Skala Kesiapan Belajar Sendiri (self-directed readiness) yang telah disesuaikan untuk pendidikan keperawatan. Hasil uji kedua kuesioner mempunyai nilai Cronbach Alpha berada di atas 0,8 (reliabilitas yang baik), namun beberapa pertanyaan direvisi berdasarkan pada hasil tes validitas dan keterbacaannya. Sebanyak 181 siswa terlibat dalam penelitian ini dan statistik deskriptif diterapkan dalam analisis data. Dalam penelitian ini, terungkap bahwa mahasiswa keperawatan memiliki kesiapan belajar mandiri yang relatif sedang (rata-rata 90,18). Sehubungan dengan motivasi akademik, motivasi intrinsik mahasiswa untuk mengetahui (rata-rata 3,35) lebih tinggi daripada sub-dimensi lain dari motivasi akademik. Ini juga berarti bahwa sebagian besar mahasiswa merasa bahagia saat belajar dan menggali sesuatu yang baru dalam pembelajaran. Sebagai kesimpulan, motivasi dan kesiapan diri adalah penting saat melaksanakan blended learning. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan agar pendidik perawat atau dosen untuk mengidentifikasi motivasi dan kesiapan diri mahasiswa dalam memberikan pembelajaran yang berpusat pada mahasiswa terutama dalam mata kuliah Penelitian dan Statistik. Penelitian selanjutnnya dapat memasukkan lebih dari satu universitas di daerah yang berbeda di Indonesia.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Online education is a method of imparting knowledge that makes use of the internet or computer network technology. Students' motivation can influence online learning, which can influence their academic achievement. Students are motivated to act to achieve their goals through motivation in their learning, where academic success is a result of their actions or work. Additionally, because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the method of instruction has shifted entirely online, which may affect students' motivation and academic achievement. This study aimed to identify the relationship between students' motivation and academic achievement in online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic at a private university. This study applied correlational quantitative research with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study was 337 second-year nursing students at a private university. This study used simple random sampling. Data collection was carried out in January-March 2021. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses. This study recruited 201 second-year nursing students. There was a significant relationship between students’ motivation and academic achievement (p-value = 0.025). Students’motivation was associated with academic achievement in online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic at a private university. Maintaining a high level of motivation is critical for online education, even more so given the current pandemic situation. As a result, both educators and students require an effective strategy for sustaining or increasing students’ motivation and academic achievement. Keywords: Motivation, Academic Achievement, Online Learning, Nursing, Student  ABSTRAK Pendidikan online adalah metode penyampaian pengetahuan yang memanfaatkan teknologi internet atau jaringan komputer. Motivasi mahasiswa dapat memengaruhi pembelajaran online, yang dapat mempengaruhi prestasi akademik mereka. Mahasiswa termotivasi untuk bertindak dalam mencapai tujuannya melalui motivasi dalam belajarnya, dimana keberhasilan akademik merupakan hasil dari tindakannya tersebut. Selain itu, terdapat perubahan metode pembelajaran menjadi full online learning karena adanya pandemik Covid-19, sehingga kemungkinan dapat memengaruhi motivasi mahasiswa dan prestasi akademiknya.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara motivasi dan prestasi belajar dalam online learning pada mahasiswa tingkat dua selama pandemi Covid-19 di satu universitas swasta. Penelitian kuantitatif korelasional dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh mahasiswa tingkat dua berjumlah 337 orang. Teknik pengambilan sampel pada penelitian adalah simple random sampling. Pengumpulan data dilaksanakan pada bulan Januari-Maret 202. Data dianalisis dengan teknik univariat dan bivariat. Penelitian ini merekrut 201 mahasiswa tingkat dua. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara motivasi mahasiswa dengan prestasi akademiknya (p-value = 0.025). Terdapat hubungan antara motivasi belajar dan prestasi belajar dalam online learning pada mahasiswa tingkat dua selama pandemi Covid-19 di satu universitas swasta. Mempertahankan motivasi yang tinggi sangat penting untuk pembelajaran online learning, terutama pada saat situasi pandemi Covid-19 saat ini. Abstract

ABSTRACT Professionalism in nursing is constantly changing because of the nursing professional development and the values of the community. One important step in achieving and maintaining professionalism in nursing education is through Role modelling. This study was to identify professional role modelling behaviour in nursing education settings from the perspective of the students at a private faculty of nursing in Indonesia. This study applied an exploratory sequential with a mixed-method design that collected qualitative and quantitative data within two different phases. In the first phase, qualitative data were collected via open-ended questions from a total of 287 students. The qualitative data was analysed using thematic analysis which then developed into a quantitative research questionnaire. The newly developed questionnaire was tested for its validity and reliability to 30 students (Cronbach Alpha 0.97). In the second phase, the 35 item questionnaire was developed and self-administered to undergraduate nursing students. Respondents provided opinions on a four point scale (strongly disagree, disagree, agree, and strongly agree). A descriptive statistic was used to describe its item of the questionnaire. Total of 263 nursing students agreed to involve in the study. First Phase reveald categories of professional role modelling in nursing consist of guiding, willing to help, smart, caring, have love, commitment, competence, integrity and have the character of Christ, patient, disciplined. These categories were then developed into a role model questionnaire consisting of 35 questions. Second phase using the questionnaire most students (>80%) agreed that nurse educators demonstrated professional role modelling behaviour in nursing education settings. However, few students disagreed, indicating that they witnessed unprofessional behaviour in their learning journey. This study has developed a number of characteristics of professional role modelling in nursing education settings that most students have agreed. These characteristics are essential and desirable for role models so they could assist nurse educators to strengthen needed characteristics within their institutions. Keywords: Professional, Role Modelling, Nurses

Abstract

ABSTRAK Demam Berdarah Dengue masih menjadi salah satu masalah kesehatan masyarakat di Indonesia. Demam Berdarah Dengue merupakan penyakit endemik yang muncul sepanjang tahun terutama pada musim hujan di berbagai daerah tropis dan subtropis termasuk di Indonesia Penyakit ini berhubungan dengan keadaan lingkungan dan perilaku masyarakat. Tidak ada pengobatan khusus untuk DBD. Pencegahan dan pengendalian dengue bergantung pada tindakan pengendalian vektor yang efektif. Strategi pencegahan dan pengendalian demam berdarah membutuhkan keterlibatan masyarakat. Oleh karena itu penting dilakukan pendidikan kesehatan kepada masyarakat mengenai pencegahan Demam Berdarah Dengue dengan Menggalakkan Program Pemberantasan Sarang Nyamuk 3M Plus. Metode yang dilakukan adalah webinar yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat Indonesia mengenai pencegahan dan penanggulangan penyakit Demam Berdarah Dengue. Kegiatan ini dilakukan bulan September 2020 dan jumlah peserta webinar adalah 152 peserta. Hasil yang didapatkan dari kegiatan ini adalah jumlah peserta yang pernah mengalami DBD sebanyak 27 orang dan yang tidak pernah mengalami DBD sebanyak 125 orang. Peserta juga diminta untuk mengikuti pretest dan postest saat webinar. Hasil pengetahuan peserta sebelum webinar adalah 6.8 dan sesudah webinar adalah 7.4. Jadi dapat disimpulkan bahwa pengetahuan peserta meningkat setelah mengikuti webinar. Saran dari peserta webinar adalah agar kegiatan pendidikan kesehatan melalui webinar dapat dilakukan secara berkelanjutan. Kata kunci:Demam Berdarah Dengue, PSN 3M Plus, Webinar DBD.            ABSTRACTDengue Hemorrhagic Fever is still a public health problem in Indonesia. Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever is an endemic disease that appears throughout the year, especially during the rainy season in various tropical and subtropical regions, including Indonesia. Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever is related to environmental conditions and community behavior. There is no specific treatment for dengue. Dengue prevention and control depends on effective vector control measures. Dengue fever prevention and control strategies require community engagement. Therefore, it is important to provide health education to the public regarding the prevention of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever by promoting the 3M Plus Campaign. The method used was a virtual seminar that aimed to increase the knowledge of the community regarding the prevention and control of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever. This seminar was done in September 2020 with 152 participants. The results obtained were 27 participants who had experienced Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever and 125 people who had never experienced Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever. Participants were also asked to take a pretest and posttest during the virtual seminar. The result of participants' knowledge before the virtual seminar were 6.8 and after the virtual seminar was 7.4. ABSTRAK Asuhan perawatan paliatif merupakan asuhan keperawatan yang diberikan pada pasien yang membutuhkan asuhan paliatif dengan tujuan meningkatkan kualitas hidup pasien dan keluarganya. Semakin meningkatnya kejadian penyakit kronis dan mengancam jiwa, membuat kebutuhan akan asuhan paliatif meningkat. Saat ini masih banyak institusi keperawatan yang belum memiliki mata kuliah perawatan paliatif baik dalam akademik maupun jenjang profesi. Oleh karena itu, webinar pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilakukan untuk menjawab permasalahan yang ada. Tujuan dari pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini untuk memberikan pengetahuan kepada mahasiswa keperawatan tentang perawatan paliatif sekaligus mempersiapkan mereka dalam menghadapi pasien yang membutuhkan asuhan paliatif dimasa mendatang. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini diberikan dengan metode ceramah menggunakan power point melalui ruang zoom secara daring kepada mahasiswa keperawatan diIndonesia. Sebanyak 202 mahasiswa keperawatan dari berbagai provinsi mengikuti webinar ini. Hasil kegiatan ini menunjukkan terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan yang signifikan dengan peningkatan rata-rata skor pre-test ke post-test sebesar 44.48. Oleh karena itu, kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini terbukti bermanfaat dalam peningkatan pengetahuan mahasiswa keperawatan di Indonesia. Kata Kunci: Webinar, perawatan paliatif, mahasiswa keperawatan  ABSTRACT Palliative care is nursing care provided to patients who need palliative care aimed to improve the quality of life of the patients and their families. The increasing incidence of chronic and life-threatening diseases lead to the increasing need of palliative care. However, there are still many nursing institutions that do not have palliative care courses yet in both academic and professional levels. Therefore, this community service webinar was conducted to answer these existing problems. The purpose of this community service was to provide information for nursing students about palliative care and to equip them for dealing with patients who need palliative care in the future. This community service activity was an online event using Zoom Meeting for nursing students in Indonesia. A total of 202 nursing students from various provinces participated in this webinar. This event was evaluated by pre-post quiz of palliative care knowledge. The results of the evaluation revealed that the students’ knowledge have increased (Mean 44.48). It is noted that this community service activity has proved to be essential event to provide more information regarding palliative care for nursing students. Keyword: Webinar, palliative care, nursing students

Abstract

Salah satu wilayah lingkup Dinas Kesehatan Tangerang adalah Puskesmas Binong yang mempunyai cakupan cukup luas. Namun, masih ada salah satu wilayah yang kurang terjangkau oleh Puskesmas yaitu wilayah RW 06 Kampung Babakan Binong. Wilayah tersebut juga merupakan salah satu tempat praktik Fakultas Keperawatan dan Ilmu Kesehatan (FKIK) UPH. Berdasarkan hasil kegiatan yang dilakukan bersama selama setahun terakhir antara FKIK UPH, Puskesmas Binong, masyarakat RW 6 dan kelurahan Binong, terlihat bahwa RW 06 yang jaraknya cukup jauh dari Puskesmas Binong mempunyai cakupan masyarakat yang cukup banyak namun tidak mempunyai wadah untuk kegiatan kesehatan. Melalui pemberdayaan masyarakat, Forum RW 06 sudah mengembangkan satu wadah milik masyarakat untuk kegiatan masyarakat. Salah satu fungsi tempat tersebut adalah untuk kegiatan Puskesmas seperti Posyandu dan Posbindu untuk meningkatkan kesehatan masyarakat. Namun pembangunan ini masih 70%, sehingga kegiatan kesehatan yang dilakukan di RW 06 masih belum terpusat di satu tempat sehingga belum semua masyarakat terjangkau. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, penting untuk mengembangkan kegiatan kesehatan di RW 06 Kelurahan Binong sehingga terdapat kesinambungan kegiatan untuk mendukung peningkatan kualitas hidup manusia khususnya di bidang kesehatan. Sehingga, dengan adanya kegiatan kesehatan yang didukung dari lingkup kesehatan yaitu keperawatan dan kedokteran perlu dilakukan untuk kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang berkelanjutan. Pelaksanaan kegiatan kesehatan ini, dilaksanakan dengan membantu mengembangkan tempat atau wadah fisik, yaitu dengan membantu penyediaan material pembangunan pos RW. Pos tersebut akan digunakan untuk kegiatan masyarakat RW 06 khususnya untuk Posyandu dan Posbindu serta kegiatan lainnya untuk mendukung kegiatan Puskesmas. Selain itu, bekerjasama dengan penelitian tentang deteksi dini demensia, juga dilaksanakan kegiatan pemeriksaan kesehatan dengan target dewasa tua hingga lansia (>45 Tahun) yaitu sebanyak 60 orang.
