Abstract

This study aims to describe the development of reference services at the Library of Universitas Indonesia. The research discussed about innovation in the development of new activities in the reference services. Analyzing reference services from librarians’ point of view concerning the new activities in reference services, including attitudes and policies toward activities. This research takes a descriptive qualitative approach and uses semiotic analysis refering to Semiology of Roland Bathes concerning significance from two stage,  denotation and connotation, for analyzing the result of interviews. The results showed that the Universitas Indonesia Library reference service provides some new activities. Librarians become more active, revealed to be closer  to users, and transformation of information technology is seen as one of the competitive need to accompany the development of knowledge. Transfer media eventually have implications not on technology but rather to communication of reference services in the Universitas Indonesia Library.

Abstract

This article aimed to improve the ability of teachers and students to create the miniature media of the solar system and improve teachers` understanding and abilities in terms of understanding pedagogical aspects those could be seen from the process of designing a Learning Implementation Plan (RPP) especially in terms of choosing a model or learning method. This activity was held at SMAN 2 Batang Anai, Padang Pariaman Regency and SMA N 5 Bukittinggi, Bukittinggi City by using training methods, questions and answers, also practices. Participants involved were geography teachers and students representatived in each class with 25 people. The form of the activity was conducting training related to designing effective learning media and conducting training related to making miniature solar systems to geography teachers and students. The results of the training carried out at SMAN 2 Batang Anai in Padang Pariaman Regency and SMA N 5 Bukittinggi in Bukittinggi City were in the form of a miniature solar system and increased abilities possessed by teachers and students in making learning media in this case was a miniature solar system. From this training, teachers had increased the understanding / ability of pedagogical aspects which could be seen from the process of designing lesson plans, especially in the terms of choosing a learning model. Geography teachers also understood more about adequate competence in terms of designing and utilizing media so that quality and effective learning was created.

Abstract

The fast growth of population, the increased flow of transportation, industry spread in Padang Municipality, and thermal inverse effect can trigger air pollution leading to acid rain in the municipality. The aims of this study are to analyze the nitrate, sulfur and pH contents of rain water and to analyze the effect of rain intensity, air temperature, air pressure, and wind direction and speed on the acidity of rain water in Padang Municipality. The study was conducted using a field measurement and a laboratory test. The sample of rain water was collected by a purposive sampling technique as displayed in Thiessen polygon. The sample of rain water was collected in ten times of sampling in six regions of Thiessen polygon in Padang Municipality. The data collected were analyzed by climate data analysis, rain intensity analysis, multiple linier regression analysis, spatial analysis, and descriptive analysis. The results of the laboratory test showed that sulphate and nitrate contents in rain water in Padang Municipality was still under the threshold of clean water quality No. 416/MENKES/PER/IX/1990, i.e. 400 mg/l for sulphate and 10 mg/l for nitrate. The effect of rain intensity on the acidity of rain water was inversely proportional to sulphate and nitrate contents and directly proportional to pH. The results of validation test and multiple linear regression analysis about the effect of sulphate, nitrate, and pH contents and independent variable as the selected factor displayed in classic assumption test showed that sulphate and pH contents had a significant effect, while nitrate content had no significant effect

Abstract

Marine Debris is a collection of solid materials left behind that intentionally or unintentionally in the sea that have an impact on threatening the sustainability and sustainability of marine ecosystems. This research is a study of identifying marine waste that is on the coast of Kota Pariaman. This study aims to identify marine waste by type and size. The collection of marine waste is carried out in a transect that is stretched to follow the coastline at the lowest tide with a distance of 100 m divided by 20 m each, each 20m each 5m x 5m each (5 meters towards the sea, 5 meters landward). Classification of waste using an LCS or litter classification system. LCS is a marine waste type coding system. This system is used for sampling carried out in its original place and immediately measures the weight and amount of waste. The method used to determine the transect is by utilizing the Geographic Information System (GIS) technology using a quantitative approach. The GIS technology can to geographically collect, manage, manipulate and visualize spatial (spatial) data related to the position of the earth's surface on the map according to the actual position of the earth's surface with coordinates. The results showed that in the coastal city of Pariaman dominated by the basket flakes with 2.67 gr (garbage Meso) or 1.52 types of garbage/m2 and 77.01 gr of beverage bottles (macro) or 0.80 type of garbage/m2.

Abstract

This activity aims to guide and form teachers at the state elementary school 08 Supayang, Payung Sekaki, Solok Regency to become creative teachers to provide learning for their students. This is realized by providing training on the use of the wordwall application as a remote assessment medium. This application makes it easier for teachers and students to access learning assessments from anywhere and anytime. The wordwall application offers templates that can be used to make assessments and can be used for free. The approach methods offered to support the realization of this community service program are; (1) program socialization in order to provide teachers with a view to include technology in the learning process and provide teachers with information about interactive learning media that can be used to support the learning process, so that the lessons presented can attract the interest and attention of students, (2) The design of the preparation of activities that will be carried out in the field is in the form of looking for experts or experts who will provide training materials and guidance on the creation and management of online learning evaluation applications in the form of the Wordwall application, and (3) conducting workshops and training on account creation and how to use the Wordwall application as a learning assessment. This community service activity changes the teachers' view that technology plays a major role in supporting the learning process to achieve learning goals. The technology in question is utilizing media that are already available online on the internet. One of them is the wordwall application which is used as a remote evaluation medium. The wordwall application offers various and interesting templates. Teachers are guided to create accounts and evaluation materials in the wordwall application and how to use them. One of the available templates is Quiz, wordsearch, true false and many others. This application has an attractive appearance and easy and inexpensive access. This application can be accessed using the internet network.

Abstract

The aims of this article are to improve the ability of teachers and students to create interactive learning media and improve the understanding and ability of teachers in pedagogic aspects that can be seen from the process of designing a Lesson Plan (RPP), especially in terms of choosing a model or method and learning media. . This activity was carried out at SMAN 5 Pariaman and at SMAN 1 Ulakan Tapakis, Padang Pariaman using training methods, question and answer and practice. The participants involved are geography teachers and students who are represented in each class with 5 participants. With the Covid-19 Pandemic and the appeal from the government to comply with health protocols by checking temperature, washing hands, using hand sanitizers, maintaining distance, and wearing masks, this activity is carried out with limited participants, so that Covid-19 does not become the newest cluster in the region. activity. These activities include conducting training related to the design of effective learning media and conducting training related to the manufacture of interactive learning media for the cycle of hydrology and layers of the atmosphere for geography teachers and students. The results of the training at SMAN 5 Pariaman and at SMAN 1 Ulakan Tapakis, Padang Pariaman, were in the form of 3D media and increased the abilities possessed by teachers and students in making learning media, in this case, the 3D media of the cycle of hydrology and layers of the atmosphere. From this training, teachers get an increase in their ability to understand pedagogical aspects which can be seen from the process of designing lesson plans, especially in terms of choosing models and learning media. Geography teachers also better understand adequate competence in terms of designing and utilizing media so as to create quality, effective and interactive learning.
