Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara dalam bahasa Bali melalui pemberdayaan teknik bercerita inovatIf yang diimplementasikan melalui pembelajaran integratif. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilaksanakan di kelas III SD No. 2 Sukasada dengan subjek 24 orang siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi teknik pembelajaran bercerita inovatif yang mengintegrasikan semua keterampilan berbahasa, yaitu mendengarkan, menulis, bercerita, dan membaca serta aspek bahasa seperti kosakata, gramatika, lafal dalam proses pembelajaran dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara siswa. Kata-kata Kunci: bercerita inovatif, pembelajaran integrative, keterampilan berbicara

Abstract

This research aims to know the effects of learning technique and personality The to listening skills in english . this research is an eksperimental research with factorial program 2 x 2 which is conducted in primary school laboratoris of UNDIKSHA Singaraja. Eighty eight students are involved in this research, which were chosen randomly by multi stage random sampling technique. This research shows that (1) no significant difference in listening english skills between students using games for learning and students using song for learning. 2) listening skills on english for students who have extroversion personality are better than controversy. 3) there are interaction effects between learning technique and personality type to listening skills in english. 4) listening english skill for extroversion students who are learning by playing is lower than who learning by song, and 5) listening skills in english students who are controversy by playing learning is higher than students who learning by song. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh teknik pembelajaran dan tipe kepribadian terhadap keterampilan mendengarkan bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen dengan rancangan faktorial 2 x 2 yang dilaksanakan di SD Lab UNDIKSHA Singaraja. Siswa yang dilibatkan dalam penelitian sebanyal 88 orang, yang ditentukan secara acak melalui Multi stage random sampling technique. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada keterampilan mendengarkan bahasa Inggris antara siswa yang Bear dengan teknik pembelajaran permainan dan lagu, (2) keterampilan mendengarkan bahasa Inggris siswa yang berkepribadian ekstroversi lebih baik baik dari pada yang berkepribadian kontroversi, (3) terdapat pengaruh interaksi antara teknik pembelajaran dan tipe kepribadian terhadap keterampilan mendengarkan bahasa Inggris, (4) keterampilan mendengarkan bahasa Inggris siswa yang berkepribadian ekstroversi, yang belajar dengan teknik pembelajaran permainan lebih rendah dari pada yang belajar dengan teknik pembelajaran lagu, dan (5) keterampilan mendengarkan bahasa Inggris siswa yang berkepribadian kontroversi, yang belajar dengan teknik pembelajaran permainan lebih tinggi daripada yang belajar dengan teknik pembelajaran lagu.

Abstract

Abstrak   Rendahnya kemampuan memahami bacaan oleh siswa SMP menjadi dasar dari penelitian ini. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk menginvestigasi efek dari musik latar pada kemampuan memahami isi bacaan oleh siswa SMP. Selain itu, perbedaan jender siswa juga digunakan sebagai variabel moderator. Populasi penelitian tersebar pada sepuluh kelas dan melalui teknik sampel acak, di dapat dua kelas yang kemudian di kelompokkan menjadi grup eksperimen dan grup kontrol. Secara kesuluruhan, jumlah sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah 80 sampel. Untuk memeperoleh data penelitian, digunakan skor dari postes yang kemudian di olah dengan dua metode statistik yaitu statistik deskriptif dan inferensial. Di akhir investigasi, ditemukan bahwa (1) ada perbedaan yang signifikan pada kemampuan memahami bacaan anatara siswa yang diajar dengan mengunakan perlakuan musik latar dengan siswa yang diajar tanpa musik latar (2) ada perbedaan yang signifikan pada kemampuan memahami bacaan antara siswa perempuan dengan siswa laki – laki. (3) terdapat interaksi antara perlakuan musik latar dan teknik konvensional dan juga jender pada kemampuan membaca siswa SMP, (4) terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada siswa perempuan yang diberi perlakuan musik latar dengan siswa perempuan yang tidak diberi perlakuan musik latar, dan (5) tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada siswa laki – laki yang diberi perlakuan musik latar dengan siswa laki – laki yang tidak diberi perlakuan dengan musik latar.   Kata Kunci: Musik latar, jender, pemahaman membaca, teknik mengajar konvensional.

Abstract

  Abstract This research aimed at investigating whether or not there is a different effect between PQRST and SQ3R strategies based on the text types upon the eighth grade students’ reading competency. This research was an experimental research with 2 X 2 factorial designs. The population was 6 classes (179 students) of grade VIII in SMPN 4 Singaraja in the academic year 2012/2013, in which 4 classes were sample of this research which was assigned into two groups, two classes with 60 students were PQRST strategy group, and two classes with 60 students were SQ3R strategy group determined by using a Multistage Random Sampling. The data were collected through reading comprehension test that were analyzed by using Statistical Two-Way ANOVA. The result shows that, first, FA = 31.533 with the significant value was 0.000 which was less than 0.5, therefore, there is a significance difference between the students who were taught by PQRST strategy than those who were taught by SQ3R strategy. Second, FAB = 2.624 with the significant value was 0.107 which was higher than 0.5, therefore, there is no interactional effect of teaching reading strategies (PQRST and SQ3R) and text types (narrative and recount) on students’ reading competency. Abstract

This quasi-experimental study aimed at investigating the effect of mobile-assisted task-based learning on students? writing competency and students? motivation in writing. Post-test only control group design was employed in this study. The experimental group was taught by mobile-assisted task-based learning while the control group was taught by non mobile-assisted task-based learning. A writing post-test and questionnaire were used to obtain the data and were analyzed using one-way ANOVA and MANOVA. The findings of the study revealed that (1) there was a significant effect of Mobile-assisted Task-based Learning on the students? writing competency; (2) there was a significant effect of Mobile-assisted Task-based Learning on the students? writing motivation; and (3) there was a simultaneous effect of Mobile-assisted Task-based Learning on the students? writing competency and students? motivation in writing. This study concluded that the use of mobile devices as a medium in the learning process is effective to enhance the students? writing competency and increase students? motivation in writing.

Abstract

Abstract: The Profile of Lecturers’ Professionalism of English Education Department. The aim of this research was to describe the lecturers’ professionalism at English Education Department in academic year 2011/2012. This was a descriptive research with a survey method, which was carried out by distributing questionnaires. They were 200 students of English Education Department sprea-ding from semester 1 to semester 7 from ten classes as the samples of the study. They were deter-mined purposively by taking into consideration as to whether the class was taught by the lecturer whom they were assessed.The finding proves that (1) the lecturers’ professionalism of English Edu-cation Department was assessed good by the students (mean: 3.72), (2) from the four competencies, personality competency reached the highest score (mean: 3.93), followed by social competency (mean: 3.88), professional competency (mean: 3.76), and  finally pedagogicalcompetency (mean: 3.31), and (3) compared to other competencies, pedagogical competency was assessed the lowest among others and was classified moderate. Tujuan utama pene-litian ini adalah untuk mengkaji profesionalisme staf dosen Jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris tahun akademik 2011/2012. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan metode survei, yaitu melalui penyebaran angket kepada responden, yakni 200 mahasiswa dari semester 1 sampai dengan semester 7 dari sepuluh kelas, yang ditentukan secara purposif berdasarkan kelas-kelas yang diajar oleh para dosen yang bersangkutan. Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa (1) secara umum kom-petensi dosen Jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris adalah baik (rerata: 3,72), (2) dari keempat kom-petensi yang dinilai, kompetensi kepribadian mendapatkan capaian tertinggi (rerata 3,93) yang di-ikuti oleh kompetensi sosial (rerata 3,88), kompetensi profesional (rerata 3,76), dan terakhir kompe-tensi pedagogik (rerata 3,31), dan (3) dibandingkan dengan kompetensi lainnya, kompetesi pedago-gik dinilai paling rendah oleh mahasiswa, dengan kategori cukup. Abstract

Listening skill is one of the language skills which has to be mastered by language learners. It is the first and foremost skill which becomes the foundation for further skills. For those young language learners who are in the phase of development of the so-called concrete operation, and have short span of concentration, language learning will be more effective if it is designed and wrapped up in the form of learning while playing. Song is one of the teaching techniques to assist them to optimize learning. Songs do not only make them happy to learn, increase concentration, enhance security and comfortable feeling, raise interests, but more importantly various vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and language expressions can be contextualized as to support language acquisition. This article aims at sharing theoretical insight and pedagogical practices on the use of special composed songs to accomplish listening instruction for fourth graders of elementary school.

Abstract

Technology integration in English language learning has become a necessity in any educational development. This study aimed at developing Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL) based instructional English Sociology course book and measuring the quality of the developed product. The study employed a research and development design as proposed by Sugiyono (2010) and was conducted in Sociology Education Department of Undiksha Singaraja. It involved 2 lecturers and 73 students. The data were collected by means of observation, interview, questionnaire, and document study, which were analysed descriptively. As the results, there were eight units developed in this course book which covered the topics of: introduction, greeting, asking/giving information, family tree, telling time, invitation, preposition of time, giving direction, preposition of place, descriptive text, report text, procedure text, recount text, and exposition text. Three stages of inquiry proposed by Gilbert and Hoepper (2014) were used in developing the course book. Regarding the validity and quality of the product, the results of measurement proved that the content validity of the course book was very high (coefficient validity of 0.98) and the quality of the course book was considered excellent or having a high-quality product where the mean score of the judgment was 4.83 exceeding the criteria of X ≥ 4.18. This indicates that the product of present study is readily used as an instructional material by the students of Sociology Education Department of Undiksha.

Abstract

This research aimed at developing contextual-based learning materials for local guidesat Ambengan village. It was research and development using modified Borg and Gall’s R&D model. There were eight steps conducted in order to develop the learning materials namely, need analysis, writing course grid, first draft, expert judgment, revision I, field test, revision II, and final product. From the data analysis, it was found that (i) the local guides required English learning materials which canimprove their speaking skill and help them to conduct waterfall trekking tour;(ii) The development of the materials should consider some criteria of good learning materials and follow task based model as a framework of the developed English learning materials; (iii) the developed English learning materials were categorized as excellent; and (iv) thematerials were effective in improving learners ‘speaking skill since there was an improvement from the post-test I, post-test II, post-test III.

Abstract

This study aimed at developing training materials for ecotourism at Sambangan village.This research was a research and development using modified Borg and Gall design (2003). There were some steps conducted in order to develop the training materials namely; need analysis, design first draft, expert judgment, revision I, field test, revision II, and final product. There were four instruments applied to obtain the research data, observation, document study, questionnaire, and interview guide. The findings were described descriptively. The results of this study found that (i) the tour guides needed tasks-based training materials that could improve their speaking skill, (ii) developed training materials based on tasks of the members of kelompok sadar wisata had been evaluated as excellent materials, (iii) The developed training materials was readable, implementable, and measurable
