Abstract

Degraded peat swamp forest in Central Kalimantan influence the economic activities of community around the forest. The terrible activities of the community have exploited the forest, and it must stop now with more solution to make a new sustainable livelihood. Now, forest can’t support us in increasing the economic values for the community. The effects of losing the forest are the earth temperate will rise, we can’t find wood for tools and also non-timber forest product. The aims of those activities are for indirect protecting activities for the forest area and rehabilitation action with purun cultivation and to optimizing purun for industrial activities of purun handicraft. There are two activities for saving the forest socialization and training of purun handicraft for the community without destroying the last forest it. The activities have done in Rantau Kujang village of South Barito District Central of Kalimantan on 23rd November 2017 supported by Indonesian Climate Changes Trust and Fund (ICCTF) with Focus Group Discussion method and the intensive training for the community about purun cultivation and processing the industrial purun handicraft. The results are community have a more new idea for sustainable livelihood without destroyed their forest. Before our training, the Community only can break their forest, but now they have found more idea for economic activities and sustainable act for the forest. The community needs a support and suggestion to found more livelihood activities with a link for marketing and the right cultivation.

Abstract

The yard around as the most direct way of providing daily food and a source of income for the purchase of other foods. The yard around can provide enough nutritious food and income for the sale of yard around produce. However, the narrow yard is one problem to grow vegetables. Verticulture is a system of agricultural cultivation where the planting area arranged vertically or terraced to allow the efficiency of limited land. One solution for the community can develop a farm for providing food to families with the verticulture system. Vertikultur is a method of cultivation that the principle is the effective use of land. The benefit obtained is able to provide the family needed on vegetables and also make the atmosphere around the house to be fresher. Aesthetically, vertically landscaped gardens serve as a backdrop that presents beautiful scenery in various colors. This program was conducted at Perum PU Bukit Tunggal, Jekan Raya, Palangkaraya. Methods of this program by socialization with training and pamphlets and vegetables cultivation workshop verticulture and housewife as the participant. The purpose of this program can supply households with nearly all the foods they need, reducing the cost of vegetable spending for their family. Given the price of vegetables in the city of Palangka Raya quite expensive. The result of this program that is a housewife and their family can improving capability and skill on verticulture technology mastery like preparation of planting media, planting and plant treatment, pest and disease control, harvesting and post-harvesting treatment.

Abstract

Socialization of non-timber forest product utilization as one form of the management of forest area with special purpose of Palangka Raya City is implemented and centered in meeting hall of Mungku Baru sub-distict of Rakumpit of Palangka Raya city. The socialization was conducted using the funding of fiscal inthe year of 2015. The purpose of community service is creating of awareness and participation of the people around the forest area with special purpose to take care of and utilize the forest products sustainably; empowerment and participation of the people around forests aimed at achieving sustainable forest resource management and improving the welfare of forest villagers. The target community in this socialization activity is the community in Mungku Baru Sub-District of Rakumpit of Palangka Raya City with their economic activity mostly still depend on the existence of forests and fields around the forest. Non-timber forest products that can be utilized by the people such as gamor skin, honey, resin gum, and traditional medicines. Population of pilau/damar (Agathis borneensis) is very large in the forest education of University of Muhammadiyah Palangkaraya, which is spread naturally in an area of approximately 2,500 Ha. The resin copal can be harvested without damaging and cutting down trees, so that forest conservation can be maintained. University of Muhammadiyah Palangkaraya as one of the forest managers of education is committed to help the welfare of the villagers around the forest. Cooperation system offered is buying and selling resin copal.

Abstract

Hydroponics is a method of growing crops without using soil media but with a nutrient solution of minerals or other materials. The media used includes household waste, such as used bottles, buckets, hoses, pots, paralon, stove wicks, and other household items. This technique can be applied to the yard of the house to produce vegetables for the family. The purpose of the service is that the Mungku Baru Village Community can optimize their yards for agricultural crop cultivation using a floating raft hydroponic system and duck bucket to improve food security during the Covid-19/post-covid-19 pandemics. The activity was carried out in Mungku Baru Village, Rakumpit District, Palangka Raya City in August 2020. The method of this activity is by way of counseling and workshops or extension activities, and the practice of making simple hydroponics statically, namely by explaining simple hydroponic cultivation techniques directly and demonstrating them, and activity participants are given simple hydroponic cultivation pamphlets as a guide to hydroponic techniques in their homes. As a result of this activity, the community has prepared a hydroponic place, followed by preparing plant life media, sowing seeds, planting seeds, and making hydroponic solutions directly. They know the dosage of using the hydroponic nutrient solution in its application. The community cultivates vegetables with a simple hydroponic method placed on the terraces and yards of the house with vegetables that are easy to grow, harvest quickly, and easy to maintain.

Abstract

Sintok (Cinnamomum sintoc Blume) termasuk tumbuhan obat yang banyak digunakan masyarakat  (komponen jamu dan obat tradisional). Dikategorikan sebagai tumbuhan penghasil minyak atsiri. Keberadaan di alam mulai tergerus, karena penebangan untuk diambil kulit kayunya, juga biji sintok termasuk rekalsitran, dan pohon jarang berbuah.Tujuan penelitian (1) untuk mengetahui apakah Sintok dapat dikembangkan dengan cara vegetatif/stek, (2) Mengetahui keberhasilan pertumbuhan stek pucuk sintok dengan perlakuan media dan ZPT.Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Petak Terbagi (Split Plot).  Petak utama (main plot)   adalah jenis media terdiri tiga taraf M0 (tanah /kontrol), M1 (tanah dengan arang sekam  2:1), M2 (tanah, pasir, dengan arang sekam 1:1:1)  dan  sebagai  anak petak (sub plot) adalah pemberian jenis zat perangsang akar atau hormon,  terdiri tiga taraf  yaitu P0 :  tanpa perangsang akar (kontrol), P1 (Rootone-F), P2 (air kelapa).Hasil penelitian  menunjukkan bahwa Sintok dapat dibudiayakan secara stek, Tanaman sintok dapat dikembangkan dengan stek batang/pucuk. Pada pengamatan 8 MST stek yang masih hidup rata-rata 15,43% dan perlakuan  Media topsoil  tanpa perlakuan ZPT (M0P0) menghasilkan   tanaman stek yang hidup yaitu 55, 55%.  Rata-rata stek bertunas pada pengamatan 8 MST adalah 2 %. Stek yang bertunas, semua masih belum muncul akar.Kata Kunci : Sintok (Cinnamomum sintoc Blume), stek, hormon dan media tumbuh

Abstract

The efforts to develop tourism require involvement and readiness by all stakeholders to integrate the tourism management framework. Stakeholders in tourism development consist of three groups, namely the community, the private sector, and the government. Local people have tourism resources, so they need to be encouraged to use them optimally. However, the community does not yet have sufficient capacity to develop and manage these resources to be absorbed by the market, besides the market demand for quality and diversification of tourism products is very high. It is this demand that must be responded by tourism actors, especially industry, by making innovations and marketing alternative products. The Bangkirai Kereng area shows how nature and humans need each other and symbiosis with each other, give and receive each other, which is mediated by water (rivers and lakes) as the adhesive element. Water is the primary domain that affects everything around it. Another uniqueness of this lake or river in Kereng Bangkirai is black water because the bottom of the lake is black peat soil, which affects the color of the water. This phenomenon is only two in the world, namely on the Amazon plains in South America and on the island of Borneo, Indonesia. Then it would be better if this potential was explored again in a presentation that was of knowledge and knowledge. For example by creating a lake museum that shows the various types of black water lakes in the world, and gives more in-depth knowledge to the younger generation who come to the Bangkirai Kereng Area. The Sebangau National Park area is a tropical rainforest that is still left on the island of Borneo.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of giving different types of nutrients on the growth of kale in hydroponic wick system. The study was a single factor experiment with two treatments using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 7 replications. The treatment given was inorganic fertilizer AB Mix and NPK plus inorganic fertilizer. Nutritional concentration was given as much as 10 ml/liter. The results showed that the type of nutrient treatment was significantly affected the growth of plant height at age 14 days after planting (DAP) and 21 DAP. At age 28 DAP there was no real effect. The producing of leaves number was differences at all stages. Provision of nutrition AB mix produced higher plant height at 14 DAP (15.9 cm) and 21 DAP (19.3 cm). The parameter of leaf number, AB mix yield more leaves at 14 hst (8,1 strand), 21 hst (11,1 strands) and 28 DAP (13,4 strands) respectively.

Abstract

Kalakai containing compounds or substances that included a functional food. One way is the use of plants kalakai processing into chips kalakai. Processed chips kalakai located in the city of Palangka Raya one of which is Imur. The purpose of this study was to determine the production cost of chips kalakai imur, knowing revenue kalakai imur chips and determine the efficiency of the chips kalakai imur. This research was conducted in Jl. Manjuhan city of Palangka Raya. When the study will take place over four (4) months. From the results of analysis show that (1) the cost of production of chips kalakai imur Rp. 10,141,200.00 during the period (per month), (2) income kalakai imur chips during the period (per month) Rp. 14.400.000,00, (3) Income/profit business kalakai imur chips during the period (per month) Rp. 4.258.800,00 (4) Efficiency of 1.4 imur kalakai chips.

Abstract

Kabun is a traditional farming system commonly practiced by people in Katingan District, Central Kalimantan. Land management carried out by the people of Katingan District since long ago using shifting cultivation. This farming system is an agroforestry system. The existence of "kabun" is expected as one of the mitigations of climate change, by maintaining the vegetation in the "kabun." The purpose of this study is to predict carbon storage of "kabun" as well as the history of management in the Buntut Bali Village, Pulau Malan subdistrict, Katingan District, Central Kalimantan. This research was carried out destructively for understorey and litter, and nondestructive for tree biomass and woody necromasses were carried out in 3 observation plots. In the observation plot 1 was obtained carbon stocks of 88.915 tons/ha, the presence of tree biomass contributed to carbon reserves of 81.263 tons/ha; plot of observations of the 2 carbon stocks obtained was 66,928 tons / ha, the most significant contribution of carbon stocks came from tree biomass 61,209 tons/ha; The plot of observations of the 3 carbon stocks was obtained at 72,375 tons/ha, and the biomass contribution of trees was 65,643 tons / ha.

Abstract

This study was carried out on a single observation plot measuring 20 m x 100 m in the Tegakan Benih Tersertifikasi (TBT) “Pambelum in Palangka Raya City to determine of carbon stocks in five carbon sources. The method used in this study is destructive methods to determine the amount of carbon stocks in litter, and understorey, non-destructive to measure carbon stocks in tree biomass, woody necromass, and roots. Total carbon stored in TBT Pambelum is 196.695 tons / ha, where tree biomass contributes carbon at 62.67% (123.264 tons / ha); rooting contributes carbon at 23.19% (45.608 tons/ha); carbon deposits on land at 12.34% (24,281 tons/ha); litter of 1.34% (2.736 tons/ha); understorey of 0.40% (0.785 tons/ha); and woody necromass of 0.01% (0.020 tons/ha).
