Abstract

The increase in population in Palangka Raya each year results in an increase in the waste produced. The increase in the amount of garbage was apparently not followed by an increase in temporary waste disposal facilities (TPS). Based on the results of previous research it was found that for the Pahandut Subdistrict of Palangka Raya City the waste generation produced was not comparable to the capacity of the TPS capacity. It was stated that the capacity of the TPS was only 45% of the waste generation that occurred per day. As a result, a lot of garbage is scattered outside the TPS and some are dumped into rivers and drainage channels. Based on the foregoing, a proposal arises to reduce the problem of waste generation. One such proposal is to reduce the initial source of waste from individual households. However, to reduce household waste, of course, it needs an effort to provide knowledge to the public about the waste sorting efforts that occur. Community participation in addressing the problem of municipal waste is very dominant, and this level of participation should be the main barometer in future waste management. To increase the role of the community in dealing with waste issues we propose an idea as a solution. The idea is to utilize household waste into compost. For this reason, it is necessary to provide a socialization on how to make compost from household waste. Therefore we made socialization with the topic of How to Make Simple Home Composter.

Abstract

Land use that is not in accordance with conservation rules and exceeds the capacity of its carrying capacity, will cause critical land. The behavior of the people who have not supported the preservation of land and the environment have caused floods in the rainy season. Efforts are needed to improve the management of water resources, namely to keep the quantity of groundwater maintained so as to ensure the availability of water for the community. The development of infiltration wells and making biopore holes is intended as a medium to hold and store rainwater. Biopori holes are cheap and good environmental technology. The main capital is human desire and awareness to save their environment from water availability and water pollution. Extension of biopore hole making techniques is done by the lecture method along with questions and answers and demonstrations. The lecture method is needed to explain the concept of management efforts and the sustainability of the existence of water sources and biopore holes in general, while the question and answer to give the opportunity for participants to better understand the concept so that those who do not understand can ask. Demonstration methods are needed to clarify the process of the technique and the stages of making biopore.

Abstract

All this time, the score of CBR is calculated according to qc score. Generally, a planner usually refers to a graph / nomogram published in the literature book, but the graph/nomogram on the book may not probably able to apply in all areas, including Banjarbaru. In this particular research, it aimed to make the graph or equation between CBR and Cone tests in the cone area of 0.5 in2. Both tests used the same sample of water contents and density. The samples were taken in four areas in Banjarbaru; Balitra, Jalan Semeru (Semeru Street), Mandiangin Circuit, and Banjarbaru Asri Housing. There took soil samples in three points of every area. By the test, obtained the correlation between CBR and Cone End Resistance (qc) on Banjarbaru area: CBR = 0.0545 qc + 2.618 and the qc score is between 50 kg/cm2 to 300 kg/cm2.
