Abstract

Breastfeeding is an activity to of exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months without additional food or other drinks. Breastfeeding has a very good impact on the mother, but if breastfeeding is not adequate it will result in swelling of thebreasts, when breast swelling occurs, the mother will feel pain in the breast area. Therefore, the treatment that can beused to reduce breast pain is cabbage leaf compresses where the content contained in cabbage leaves can help widenthe capillaries, if the capillaries are dilated, it can make it easier for blood to flow in and out, thus allowing the body toabsorb blocked fluids in the breast. The aim of this study is to know and analyze the level of pain in post partum motherbreast swelling before and after being given cabbage leaf compress therapy. This study uses a qualitative researchdesign, using 2 samples of postpartum mothers who experience breast swelling pain with data collection techniquesthrough interviews, observation and documentation. The results showed that cabbage leaf compresses were effective inreducing breast swelling pain as evidenced by the results of decreasing the pain scale of breast swelling in the firstrespondent before therapy, namely a scale of 6 (moderate pain) to a scale of 1 (mild pain) then in the secondrespondent before treatment the pain was felt, namely a scale of 5 (moderate pain) to 0 (no pain). The conclusion ofthis study is that cabbage leaf compresses are proven to be effective in reducing the pain scale of breast swelling inpostpartum mothers, as evidenced by the reduction in the pain scale of breast swelling in both respondents.
