Abstract

Tsunamis are ocean waves that can be caused by earthquakes, landslides or volcanic eruptions that occur at sea either vertically or horizontally. Population of Padang city, which is more than half the population living in areas relatively close to the beach. A large of population living and indulge in the coastal of Padang city caused an increasing vulnerability of the population to the dangers of tsunami. Effective evacuation planning is an effort to minimize the possible impact of the tsunami will occur. The research methodology consists of three phases: data collection, data analysis stage of the process network analisys in ArcGIS software and the third is the analysis phase. Service area is generated using a network analyst tool. Service area in this research means that the minimum area that can be reach by evacuee before tsunami come. The results show that the shelters are not able to cover all of the areas in tsunamiprone zones. The results show that the shelters allocated by KOGAMI and DKP can not cover about 9.5% and 10.9% evacuee in tsunami prone area respectively. To overcome this, the addition of potential new shelter building must be allocated in non covered service area.  Keywords: tsunami, evacuation, shelter, network analyst, service area

Abstract

The availability irrigation and drainage systems had to experience a reduction in capability and performance. This is due to lack of maintenance and monitoring for the beginning so it works out of its capacity limit, the low performance of Operations and Maintenances (O & M), deficiency and deteriorating services. Since 2015, the irrigation area Sei Silam has no O & M because of the transfer ofauthority which is from Kampar district government to Riau provincial government. Therefore, it is necessary for evaluating the performance index of facilities and infrastructure in the main irrigation area based on Minister of Public Work Regulation Number 12/PRT/M/2015 which has been interpreted into IrrigationSystem Performance Index (Indeks Kinerja Sistem Irigasi – IKSI). Result of research showed that the performance index is 71.30%or condition of performance is good; where physical infrastructure is in the amount of 31.98%; plantation productivity is equal to 13.02%; supporting facility is 7.7%; personnel organizationis equal to 9.6%; 5% of documentation; also there is 4% in Water User Farmer Association. Keywords: performance index, irrigation, IKSI

Abstract

Physical model research of water wheel for agricultural irrigation is executed at Hidrotechnic’s Laboratory University of Riau. Model that is utilized doesn't utilize model scale, but phenomenon of prototype will be represented by model that made. Water wheel bases executed field study previous, having alone uniqueness. Paddle wheel lap speed one every minute (RPM) and debit who can be lifted by waters jacking tube visual's are relative stable. Even so was known it must be water wheel condition be still get improved debit that can be lifted by waters jacking tube. Water wheel model is undershoot water wheel made bases prototype aught at the site or at agricultural location. This waterwheel is made at Technicals Engineering Material Laboratory. This Waterwheel model specification with diameter 55 cm, broad 6 cm, long fan 6 cm, total fan 18 numbers and heavy 1,764 kg. The research did by variated foots up and tube dimension so gotten by water wheel model with tubed optimal one. Variation of tube is 3, 6, 9 and 18 numbers with each volume saves 3,4 ml, 8,0 ml, and 16,8 ml whereas debit flows are not variated.Result of this experiment showing that Waterwheel speed regarde by flow speed that punches waterwheel fans, but relationship both is not linear. Total tube and tube volume regard paddle wheel lap. Diameter 0,8 cm tube can’t lift waters because the diameter of tube are too small but diameter 1,3 cm and 1,7 cm tube both can lift flows.Maximum debits which diameter 1,3 tube can be lifted by jacking tube is 6,39 ml/dt, it happens upon tube amount 18 numbers whereas on diameter tube 1,7 cm maximum debits is 5,38 ml / dt happens upon tubed amount 6 numbers. Keywords: Model, Waterwheel, Undershot

Abstract

Sedimentation and erosion in reservoir are common natural phenomena. Reservoir sedimentation and erosion caused by several factors such as: water level fluctuations in the reservoir and run off when it rains. Observation of reservoir sedimentation and erosion are done using remote sensing data. The data used are Landsat satellite imagery Landsat 7 ETM+ and Landsat 8 OLI_TIRS. Overview of sedimentation and erosion in this study conducted in 3 water level conditions. Based on the analysis results obtained: (1) condition 1 (mean water level 76,67 m), of date 1 September 2000 to 11 July 2013 (12,87 years) has occurred sedimentation and erosion, for 140,62 ha and 97,47 ha respectively, the rate of sedimentation and erosion, for 10,95 ha/year and 7,58 ha/year respectively. (2) the condition 2 (mean water level 77,73 m), of dates 9 December 2001 to 16 November 2013 (11,95 years) has occurred sedimentation and erosion, for 146,23 ha and 125,06 ha respectively, the rate of sedimentation and erosion, for 12,24 ha/year and 10,47 ha/year respectively. (3) Condition 3 (mean water level 79,75 m), of date 9 March 2000 to 18 December 2013 (13,79 years) has occurred sedimentation and erosion, for 325,69 ha and 73,23 ha respectively, the rate of sedimentation and erosion, for 23,62 ha/year and 5,31 ha/year respectively. Keywords : sedimentation , erosion , reservoir, remote sensing , Landsat

Abstract

Rupat Island is one of the island that surrounded by oceans and the unavaiability of water supply company cause the people of the island to rely on rain water to get clean water. Population growth, land use change, the behavior of hydrology and building infrastructure water inadequate affect the water availability relatively constant, which in the end feared will cause imbalance between the needs and availability. So, we need a study of water balance with the aim to analyze the needs, availability and water balance at Rupat Island. Analysis of the availability of water is conducted by rainfall data of half monthly period from 2006 to 2015 using National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) and F.J. Mock with discharge comparison is from Automatic Water Level Recorder (AWLR) Pantai Cermin for calibration. From this calibration will be compared with finding the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) value and obtained the better method is NRECA. The needs was calculated until 2035 with assuming all grades needs except domestic demand that is considered a constant. Analysis of water balance is based on the probability of 80%, 20% and average discharge from availability. The final result of this research showed that availability for Qinflow 80% condition going on deficit for particular months. However, for the others conditions going on excess water throughout the year and it will still be able to fulfill the needs of water until 2035 with assuming no significant changes of catchment area. Keywords: Water Balance, NRECA, F.J. Abstract

Canal blocking is closure or insulation of trenches, rivers, or canals permanent or non-permanent that serve to keep the water system and elevation water level stable. With the canal blocking it will affect the flow profile in the channel. The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of debit coefficient on canal blocking and the influence of bolt and shear force on the stability of canal blocking so as to produce optimal design. The study was conducted in the laboratory by testing the physical model of the blocking canal door. Canal blocking model is made in such a way resembles canal blocking in the field with a scale of 1: 7. Test method is done by variation of the discharge, permeable or unpermeable flow properties, tube arrangement, material weight, and canal blocking of one unit or not a single unit. The results showed that blocking canals have good stability, high efficiency, and economical influenced by several factors, there are type of material, the arrangement and the weight of the material content, the strength of the coefficient of friction (locking / recognition of canal blocking), and the design of permeable or unpermeable. Keywords: canal blocking model, permeable, unpermeable

Abstract

Peat restoration are needed to stop and curb the rate of further damage and rehabilitate peat ecosystems. The Peat Restoration Agency Republic of Indonesia has implemented peat restoration efforts one of them through rewetting activities within the territory of the Peat Hydrological Unity (PHU). The peat land village of Lukun village has burnt and degraded over years. With the rewetting of the peat, it is expected that the hydrologically disturbed peat will be improved and the peat will remain in wet conditions so that the degradation rate and potential of peat fires can be prevented. Therefore, the analysis of the impact of the development of canal against groundwater table using the dipwells tool to monitor and evaluate post-construction of the channel canal. Testing is done by varying the opening of the door on the channel canal. The results obtained from dipwells in the form of graph of groundwater fluctuation from several channel canals with variation of open cap of channel of the channel influenced by rainfall, hydrotopography and characteristic on peatland. Abstract

Hydrologic restoration using canal block is a developing way for re-wetting peatlands, like as in Lukun Village, Tebing Tinggi Timur, Meranti Islands. The groundwater flow around the canal block should be analyzed to determine the effect of the canal block on the surrounding peatland. The analysis was carried out using Groundwater Velocimeter tool in pairs around the canal block. The results obtained from Grounwater Velocimeter is velocity and direction of groundwater flow shown from of ink on the paper. The direction of groundwater flow on peatlands are irregular as it depends on the elevation and pressure difference in area. Keywords : Groundwater Velocimeter, Groundwater Flow, Peatland
