Abstract

The research aims to examine the effect of treatment with the application of problem-based learning (PBL) on learning outcomes of student. The topic of teaching biology in this research is invertebrate material. During the conduct of this research, a quasi-experimental non-equivalent control group program was done. A total of 45 students who were divided into two classes (control = 20 students, experiment = 25 students) were taken randomly from a total of eight classes. The instrument for measuring student learning outcomes is seven items and has been validated by experts and empirically. The t test was used to compare data. The results of the research show that there is no difference in learning outcomes in the two classes (experimental and control) with sig. 0.825. This research concludes that problem-based learning has no impact on student learning outcomes on invertebrate material. The future research recommendation is to provide innovation in problem-based learning to increase its effectiveness on student performance.

Abstract

The study aims to improve students activity and achievement cognitive in glade XI IPA Kristen YABT Manokwari school year 2017/2018 on the material of Human Circulation System by applying Problem Solving Learning. Classroom action research is conducted in two cycles, each cycle consists of four stage s of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection involving students as much as 13 people. Data collection is done through observation sheets and test provision. The result of this research shows that the students activity cycle average is 64,9% and on the second cycle the average of student activity reach 77,8% and most of student have reached active criteria. On the result of student learning in cycle I that is 59,61 not yet completed by minimum masteri criteria but has reached the completeness i n classical that is 76,92%. The average grade obtained by students in the second cycle 74.61% and students' classical learning completeness on the second cycle increased to reach 92.3%. Based on the results of research that has been done can be concluded that the application of problem solving learning can improve the activity and achievement of students in the learning process.

Abstract

This research is a type of descriptive research with the aim of knowing the critical thinking ability profile of prospective biology teachers at the University of Papua. The population in this study were all prospective biology teacher students at the University of Papua. The sampling technique is purposive sampling, namely sampling based on a specific purpose. The number of respondents was 42 prospective biology teachers. The instrument is in the form of essay questions. Based on research data analysis, the average proportion of critical thinking skills for biology teacher candidates is 55.03. Furthermore, the proportions based on critical thinking criteria are 10% uncritical, 53.33% less critical, 36.67% critical and 2.38% very critical. This in general it can be interpreted that the critical thinking skills of prospective biology teachers at the University of Papua are in the less critical category, this is very important to be empowered as a provision to face competition in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0.Keywords: Analysis, Critical Thinking Skills, Prospective Biology TeachersAbstrak Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian deskriptif dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui profil kemampuan berpikir kritis calon guru biologi di Universitas Papua.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze articles that examine students' critical thinking abilities that have been published in several reputable international journals published in period 2011-2020 using bibliometric analysis. The research was conducted using a systematic mapping method in 4 stages: (1) searching articles using the Publish or Perish (PoP) application in the Scopus database, (2) classifying articles for bibliometric analysis, (3) checking and filling in article metadata and (4) conducting bibliometric analysis using the VOSviewer application. The results of the bibliometric analysis yielded 5 findings, as follows: (1) the trend of publication of critical thinking skills has fluctuated from 2011-2020; (2) the ten most contributing journals have published 46 articles up to 2020; (3) the ten most cited articles resulted in 669 citations; (4) The four highest order keywords that are most widely used in critical thinking skills articles are critical thinking abilities, thinking abilities and students; (5) There are 6 writers who research critical thinking skills the most but have not seen collaboration between the 6 writers; It can be concluded that student critical thinking abilities in the world of education are being researched even though they have fluctuated over the last 10 years.
