Abstract

Shadow puppet (wayang) is a fine culture heritage; the sublimity of philosophy and its beauty of inlay and decoration already get its world acknowledgement. Wayang is a shadow of out own life, from which we get picture of life in the world and after world. Eventhough its presence now is defeated by modern entertainment, its elegance done by the beauty of graphic sculpture brings its own inspiration to sculpturers and designers to make it as a foundation in design masterpieces toward Indonesian culture, especially Javanese culture.

Abstract

The shift of economic trend into creative economy spurs Indonesia as a creative nation supported with cultural diversity, creative human resources and rich of natural resources to actively participate and contribute to the global economy. The power of Indonesian’s creative products is not inferior to other countries. However, the appeal of a product cannot be separated from the role of consistent and good visual identity design. Through this program Indonesian’s creative products will be more dignified, classy and echoed throughout the world.

Abstract

The inserting power of a message into the minds of recipients can be done through various stages of processing and filters contained in each individual recipient. It is a distinctive strength when designers can learn the process so that designing a work of visual design can be conveyed with both in the minds of society ast targets and generate action / feedback is expected. Article analysis the process of how a message in a media was able to convey the reader or viewers. The research was done by doing library research. It can be concluded that feeling, thinking, and actioning are process that influence people in understanding a message in a media.

Abstract

Pen is one of the tools for an artist or designer in expressing ideas in visual form. Strong character of the pen scratch has a special attraction in the diversity of drawings style. It requires a long process for an artist to find the distinctiveness in a pen scratch with full of confidence. Besides determining the choice of the type of pen that will be used, the choice of the type of hatching used also determines the identity of signature scratch in the drawing. Referring to the strong character of a pen scratch as a preliminary sketch of a work, a great artist and designer will produce great masterpiece that will be in a work of painting, sculpture and visual communication design. Research methodology study uses data collection techniques from some of the literature, observations, and analysis of different forms of shading and its influence on the results of the drawing. Research results can be used as a template for the development of the media pen drawing techniques.

Abstract

In the early stages of gagrak puppet ornaments book designing of Surakarta, digitally process documentation is done. Source images with poor conditions are transferred through the tracing process that requires precision to produce documentation of images with sharp vector format. Diversity of gagrak puppet ornaments and accessories are tried to be compiled in a book with a grid system that is expected to be a reference book of attractive gagrak puppets ornaments in a contemporary appearance. Article is based on a literature review by selecting multiple sources of both printed and electronic and doing some sketches of various shapes observation, shapes and textures. A collection of ornaments in the notion that is processed from the 'old values' that have been there that will be applied to 'new value' a masterpiece of design that can be universally accepted and globally

Abstract

A new tradition in the use of chatting communication technology with mobile phone (cell phone) is more lively with the use of stickers. Stickers are used as a means to increase the emotion expressions of communication users. Current mobile phone technology, along with the development of high specifications (for visual depiction), is adequate to display complex visual. This prompts a new tradition that accepts even to be a new behavior in modern communication methods. Looking at this phenomenon, it is not impossible for an artist to open up the work area (creative economy) and the creation of new business areas in the visual characters of Indonesian culture. This study used the chatting phenomenon with stickers to introduce the culture of the puppet characters with contemporary approach for young people around the world. The method carried out included the depiction of classification of facial expression emotions and collaboration with the approach of some common sticker visualizations. The result was then put into the classification of semiotic theory combining with simplified visual approach to obtain the appropriate visual characterstics of the puppet. Research also involved visual craft of the purwa puppet as visual character basis for character deformation of the contemporary puppet. Thus, the application of visual stickers can be used by users for communication functions.

Abstract

Amid the proliferation of electronic media competition, the role of conventional media such as magazines still becomes a promising choice. The recency of printing techniques, finishing and layout software currently enable more rapid publication of a magazine. Its presence in every corner of the city increasingly makes it easier for consumers to buy and makes it a complete source of information plus attractive bonus which is always a tempting offer in each issue. Amid the hundreds of magazine design magazine rack is on store / stall / supermarket sales how can a magazine survive? Surely, the role of creativity of magazine cover designs as a bridge of communication to the customers becomes the forefront of marketing which is highly important.

Abstract

In the early stages of designing a design, sketch is an initial beginning of the creation of a powerful idea. Preliminary sketch forms structured or free lines to try to catch an idea or a model that will be realized in the design or picture. The process behind the stunning design starts from a dot and lines to the structure and expanded into a variety of alternative designs. The role of a line is often underestimated and exacerbated by the increasingly rapid development of technology, which makes people lazy to explore manually. The strength of line/scratch built through a continuous training process produces bold, spontaneous, and characterized lines.
