Abstract

Arts and craft products are now beginning to be produced by many home industries such as sewing patchwork application products. But the lack of knowledge of art, design and product marketing in this industry making products become less competitive and provide income earning less than the maximum. Besides, home industry players sometimes do not have the high endurance and sustainability in business. As one of the national strategic issues, the arts, crafts and creative industries get serious attention from the government. It is expected with the opening horizons of knowledge in art, design and product marketing in the area of sew patchwork application craft (which is use the waste fabric) will impact the development of entrepreneurship opportunities and support many home industries entrepreneur from local micro become sustainable macro business. This action will also support to further explore the various culture of Indonesian arts, crafts and other creative industries became more creative, innovative and competitive by using waste materials that are environmentally friendly.

Abstract

Coconut coir is one component of coconut that could be produced and decomposed into products needed by domestic or international market. Cocofiber and cocopeat are two derived products from coconut coir which through several researches could be produced into supporting material of interior and furniture, including matrass, bed sofa, and particle board like MDF, Coconut Fiber Board (CFB). Within this research, it is hoped to distribute the information about the functions and producing materials from coconut coir waste. This is supposed to be used by the government, minor industry, designer, and public to also apply and choose environment-friendly coconus coir material and sustain as a part of sustainable design, green design, social entrepreneurship and related programs. Therefore, coconut coir waste could be valued economically and has its positive effects to society who live around the coconut tree plantation area.

Abstract

Trade globalization caused the overwhelming of overseas products in the center of trades in Indonesia. The effect of this case was the small-scale and middle industries’ products were difficult to compete with the impor one in Indonesia. The lack of product development strategy, lack of people’s skils, technology, and dependence on the imported raw materials caused the limitation of stock production which was unique, creative, and innovative that became the competitve advantage of the UMKM. Based on these problems, a research to consider a strategy priority that was appropriate, effective, and efficient was conducted.

Abstract

The goal of this research was to add visual-captured data and analytical from the aspects of function as inputs for designers to be able to propose design on revitalizing the area of Taman Fatahillah. There were two problems that had been found. First, the historical street furniture had not been thought to be part of a new development of the area. Second, the newly added street furniture had not been integrated into the original purpose of Taman Fatahillah. The research used qualitative descriptive methodology with observation and visual-captured methods to collect all data needed. The conclusions are the seating furniture from the old plan has been changed its function, some of them function properly, and one of them does not function properly. Part of the newly added seating furniture in this area functionally works, but one of them does not functionally integrate into the surroundings of Taman Fatahillah as a historical revitalized public area.
