Abstract

This study was conducted to examine the effect of variable Non Performing Loan (NPL), Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), and Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR) to Return on Assets (ROA). The sampling technique used is purposive sampling with criteria of commercial banks in Indonesia which presents the financial statements of the period 2010 to 2013. The data obtained by the publication of the Indonesian Banking Directory of the period 2010 to 2013. Obtained a total sample of 15 companies from 25 commercial banks in Indonesia 2010- 2013 period. Analysis techniques that will be used in this research is multiple linear regression to obtain a comprehensive picture of the relationship between the variables and the other variables. During the observation period LDR and CAR show a significant positive effect on ROA, while NPL significantly negative effect on ROA. This suggests that the Bank should focus more on NPL problems that can increase the profitability of the bank. The result is expected that the variable Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), and Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR) can be used as guidelines, either by the management company in the management of the company, as well as by investors in determining investment strategy.

The sample consists of the 10 largest banks in Indonesia with the criteria of having total bank assets of the total national banking assets above 2%. The data used are annual data from 2011 to 2020. The results show that from the bank's internal factors, BOPO has a positive and significant effect on the NPL. LDR, and variable capital buffer, a negative and significant on NPL. While the size of the bank obtained results that are not significant to the NPL. From external factors, the results obtained where interest rates have a significant negative effect on NPLs while inflation is not significant for increasing NPL.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of related party transactions on earnings management. This study also investigates the role of institutional ownership as a moderator on the effect of related party transactions on earnings management. This study uses agency theory to explain the relationship between variables. The research population consists of all manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The sample selection used a purposive method which produced 225 observational data. The analytical method used is moderation regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that partially related party transactions have a positive and significant effect on earnings management. Institutional ownership is able to significantly weaken the relationship between related party transactions on earnings management and act as a quasi moderator.
