Abstract

Indonesia is one of the ten countries with the highest prevalence of child marriage in the world. Efforts to prevent the practice of child marriage can be done through intervention on the determinants of child marriage. This article aims to examine and explain the factors that influence child marriage referring to ecological theory. The research method used is a literature review. Article searches were conducted on online journal databases found in Pubmed, Proquest, ScienceDirect, and Willey Online Library with the keyword "determinants of child marriage" and published in 2017-2021. The search results of articles discussing the determinants of child marriage found 13 articles that matched the inclusion criteria. The results of the article examination found that individual education and knowledge factors were part of the microsystem, household welfare factors and the attachment of children's relationships with parents were part of the mesosystem, rural living environment factors, social, cultural, and religious norms as an exosystem, and security factors. state, and regulations or laws as part of the macrosystem. The conclusion obtained is that the problem of child marriage is a multidimensional problem including individual, family, community, and state factors.

Abstract

Efforts to maintain dental and oral health in children with special needs require special attention because individuals with special needs are a group that has a high caries risk. This is due to the physical and mental limitations experienced by children with special needs so that it can affect the level of education and the ability of children to maintain healthy teeth and mouth. This outreach activity was carried out using the method of showing educational videos and live demonstrations with props. The results of counseling on how to brush their teeth properly were then demonstrated by all participants in the joint toothbrush activity. Application of topical fluoride to children with special needs is also carried out in this activity as an effort to prevent caries.

Abstract

Turner syndrome is a genetic disorder which characterized by specific physical appearance and the lost of one of sex chromosome in females. The most frequent chromosome constitution in Turner syndrome is 45X. This disorder may cause an interruption of growth and development in the whole body as well as in the craniofacial region. The oral manifestations of Turner syndrome are micrognathia, high palate, malocclusion, and the premature eruption of first permanent molars. This paper will discuss the oral manifestations associated with the craniofacial growth and development of Turner syndrome.

Abstract

South Sulawesi was one of the first regions in Indonesia to implement the Large-Scale Social Restriction (LSSR) policy, which runs from April 24 to May 22, 2020, and is one of the non-pharmaceutical strategies used to encourage people to stay at home more in order to suppress the spread of the Covid-19 virus. The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of the LSSR policy on the behavior of people in South Sulawesi who stay silent in their homes, as well as how long the impact will last. The data used is big data in the form of the Google Mobility Report, specifically community mobility data in the form of a percentage change in the number of visits (towards the baseline) for places classified as residential areas measured daily from March 20 to May 22, 2020. The intervention ARIMA model (1,0,0) with the intervention order b=0, r=0, s=8 shows a significant impact from the implementation of LSSR in South Sulawesi using the univariate ARIMA (Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average) statistical analysis method. This is because of contradictory policies that encourage people to begin activities outside the home. The implementation of this policy, which was followed by the beginning of people leaving their homes in May 2020, also had an impact on rising prices due to decreased distribution of goods/services, resulting in scarcity. The study concludes that the LSSR policy has a significant effect on the behavior of people in South Sulawesi staying silent in their homes from its implementation until eight days later.

Abstract

Fluorosis is a pathological endemic effect of ion intake of flour which is more than 1ppm. Enamel fluorosis is tooth enamel demineralization due to excessive flour intakeduring tooth calcification period. Fluorosis is disparity of tooth which is initially markedwith a white line across the enamel surface, and at severe level can change tooth form.Dental fluorosis is hypoplasia or hypomaturation of tooth enamel or dentine because ofchronic usage of excessive fluor at period and development of dentition. Dental fluorosisis qualitative defect of enamel, resulted from the increase of fluor concentration at cellmicroenvironment of ameloblast during development and tooth formation. Quantitativedefect of enamel can occur on severe type of dental fluorosis. Microabrasion, consist ofair abrasion and enamel microabrasion, is a method of reducing tooth structure which isthe best alternative rather than drilling method. The mechanism of air abrasion techniqueis blast pressure of abrasive particles to remove tooth caries. The principle of kineticenergy is the abrasive particles with high pressure and speed, hit the tooth, remove toothcaries, and reduce tooth structure.

Abstract

Cerebral palsy is the condition marked by paralysis, weakness, inability coordinationor other deviation of motoric function, especially muscles. While mental retardation isdevelopment disturbance especially in functions and the intellectual capacity. Fromthe dentistry point of view, the paient had many disturbances because the decreasingof the capacity, include maintenance of the oral dental health. In fact, therequirements in oral and dental health care were not different from other patients, butthe implementation usually difficult. Dental care was influenced by several points, psychology, physical, and emotion. The aim of this case study is to reportconsiderations in caring inpatient, improving the chewing function and esthetics andincreased patient’s self confidence. This case represents a 17 years old man with thecerebral palsy and mild mental retardation, came to the Teeth and Mouth Clinic ofYPAC Jakarta to make denture. He complained his chewing abilitiy, and appearancebecause disturbanced and decreased his self-confidence. In this case, the patient wasmade frame denture to the teeth 41 to 45, because the ridge had been lost as a result oflosing teeth many years ago.after the therapy, it can be concluded that the difficulty inhandling the special need children patient could be overcome if the dentist studied thecharacteristics of the manifestation of his physical and psychological situation of thepublic well. Professionally a dentist could determine the attitude before planning anoperational action on a sufferer.

Abstract

Hemangioma is a vascular benign tumor frequently found in childhood and about30% manifests itself in head and neck areas. This lesion is frequently found in lip, tongue and buccal mucosal areas. Its etiology is conjectured to be related to theproliferation of abnormalities of endothelium cells. According to its type, hemangiomais divided into capillary, cavernous, and mixed hemangioma. Surgery is indicated incases that cause complications. A case of hemangioma was reported in the lower lipof an eight-year-old girl. The patient accompanied by her parents visited the SpecialDental Care Clinic, Department of Oral Surgery, Hasan Sadikin Hospital, Bandung, with the complaint of having reddish bruises on the lower lip, which impeded thespeaking and masticating function. Before radiotherapy was performed at theRadiology Polyclinic, mouth preparation was provided for all his teeth first, for thepurpose of improving oral hygiene and preventing focal infection present in theintraoral condition.

Abstract

Interceptive orthodontic treatment aims to reduce and improve the causes of malocclusion in the stage of growth and development that may have a bad effect in the future. Dental crowding is a state of the disproportion betweenthe size of the teeth, jaw size and arch length. There are three conditions that facilitate the crowding, the width ofthe teeth, small jaw basal bones or a combination of both. One of the techniques of handling the case of childrenanterior crowding due to disproportion size of tooth width with a narrow arch is the rapid palatal expander device(RPE) in order to obtain the ideal space for the teeth and arch length. A boy, aged 11 years, wants to be treated histeeth with complaints teeth of front upper jaw and lower jaw experiencing crowding, thereby disrupting theappearance and mastication. Almost all the permanent teeth have erupted, and the jaw is still in its infancy. Thetreatment is carried out with a combination of fixed orthodontic devices and RPE for 4 months of treatment, showed a positive change in the profile seen in clinical oral cavity conditions of patients.

Abstract

Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) has a very important role in the function of mastication, swallowing and talking.During the process of chewing, this joint sustains a large amount of stress. Some complex excessive pressure on thejoints can cause structural damage to the joints or interfere with the normal function of the relationship betweencondyle, discus and eminence that will result in pain and dysfunction. This study aimed to determine the frequencyrepresentation of TMJ dysfunction in 6-13 years-old children. Descriptive study was conducted by survey on studentsof SDN 2 Sengkang-Wajo totaling 297 children, consisting of 157 males and 140 females. The sampling using astratified random sampling, by means of sub-populations forming a relatively homogeneous state of the variables. Results showed that the frequency of TMJ dysfunction with symptoms of pain in the supporting muscles TMJ washigher (87.34%) compared to other symptoms, followed by symptoms of mouth opening limitation (62.02%), clicking(43.03%), deflection (21.51%), mouth opening deviation (16.45%), and crepitation (5.06%). Based on the prevalence, many students of SDN 2 Sengkang suffering from dysfunction TMJ with a variety of symptoms due to low levels ofdental and oral hygiene due to lack UKGS in school.

Abstract

Squamous cell carcinoma at the tongue is a malignant tumor derived from epithelial mucosa of the oral cavity. Thisstudy aims to identify and to analyze the effect of flavonoid fraction of etanol of ant nests plants (Myrmecodia pendans)as an anti-cancer barrier against the proliferation of SP-C1 tongue cancer cells. The study was conducted with pureexperimental laboratory methods using Supri's-Clone 1 (SP-C1) human tongue cancer cells cultured. Researchgradually begins with determination, extraction and fractionation ant nests plant, cytotoxicity test to get a fraction offlavonoids that have anticancer potential, and finaly testing the proliferation barriers. Cytotoxicity test showed thatfrom the highest concentration (1000 μg/mL) to the lowest concentration (7.8125 μg/mL) in etanol fraction, fractionhexan and water caused Sp-C1 human tongue cancer cells death significantly. Ethanol fraction LCvalues of 938,003.These results were obtained from the linear equivalent of the relation between log consentration and probit. Flavonoidetanol fraction of ant nest has an inhibition effect against proliferation of SP-C1. Antiproliferative analysis of flavonoidfraction of ethanol flavonoid based on concentration and incubation time on optical density absorbation SP-C1 cellswas statistically highly significant (p=0.00).
