Abstract

BACKGROUND: ABSTINENCE FROM FOOD IS AN INDIVIDUAL BEHAVIOR TO NOT EAT CERTAIN FOODS BECAUSE THERE IS A BAN BESIFAT OBTAINED CULTURE FOR GENERATIONS. STILL THE PUERPERAL WOMEN WHO ABSTAIN FROM CERTAIN FOODS LIKELY INFLUENCED BY SEVERAL FACTORS INCLUDING THE ROLE OF THE FAMILY.THE PURPOSE OF THIS STUDY WAS TO EXPLORE THE ROLE OF THE FAMILY IN THE DECISIONMAKING POSTPARTUM MOTHERS TO PRACTICE ABSTINENCE FEEDING ON POSTPARTUM MOTHERS. THIS RESEARCH IS A QUALITATIVE DESCRIPTIVE STUDY, TAKING PARTICIPANTS WITH METHODS PURPUSIVE SAMPLING, PARTICIPANTS WERE FOUR POSTPARTUM MOTHERS WHO DO ABSTAIN FROM EATING, WHILE TRIANGULATION COMPOSED OF TWO POSTPARTUM MOTHERS WHO DO NOT ABSTAIN FROM FOOD, TWO MOTHERS OR MOTHERS-IN-LAW POSTPARTUM MOTHERS WHO ABSTAIN FROM FOOD, TWO PEOPLE MOTHER OR MOTHER-IN-LAW POSTPARTUM MOTHERS WHO DO NOT ABSTAIN FROM FOOD, ONE MIDWIFE AND ONE MIDWIFE. DATA IS COLLECTED USING IN-DEPTH INTERVIEWS, DATA IS PROCESSED BY THE METHOD OF INDUCTION.THE RESULTS SHOWED THAT THE PRACTICE OF ABSTINENCE FEEDING ON POSTPARTUM MOTHER INFLUENCED BY FAMILY MEMBERS WHO LIVE WITH THE PARTICIPANTS, ESPECIALLY THE BIRTH MOTHER OR MOTHER-IN-LAW, WHILE THE HUSBAND OF THE PARTICIPANTS DID NOT HAVE A SIGNIFICANT ROLE IN THE PRACTICE OF ABSTINENCE EAT. CONCLUSION PRACTICE ABSTINENCE FROM FOOD ON POSTPARTUM MOTHER INFLUENCED BY THE ROLE OF THE FAMILY, ESPECIALLY THE MOTHER OR MOTHER-IN-LAW.

Abstract

Increased life expectancy, causes the increase of the elderly population that have an impact on the shift  of  disease  pattern  from  infectious  diseases  to  degenerative  diseases  such  as  hypertension  . Treatment of  hypertension can be done in a  way that is pharmacological  with anti-  hypertensive drugs or non- pharmacological is with lifestyle modification or it could be a combination of both. Therapeutic massage is one of the non- pharmacological therapies that can reduce hypertension . Massage techniques at some point to remove the blockage in the blood so that blood and energy flow  in  the  body  back  smoothly  .  This  study  aims  to  determine  the  effect  of  foot  massage  with citronella oil to decrease blood pressure of elderly hypertensive patients . This type of research is the  study  randomized  pre  -  post  test  design  with  control  "  as  many  as  14  respondents  were recruited in this study , 7 respondents are citronella oil group and 7 respondents as a control group . The results  showed a decrease in  mean blood pressure before and after the  foot  massage using lemongrass oil , is systolic blood pressure by 9.09 mmHg and 5.71 mmHg for diastolic . While in control of a decrease in mean blood pressure before and after the foot massage using the control , is systolic blood pressure of 7.62 mmHg and diastolic 5.00 mmHg  Keywords : Massage feet , citronella oil , blood pressure

Abstract

Background : Burden countries toward Pulmonary TBC, one of them is Indonesia. Data of WHO shows that Indonesia, every years is found 580.000 the new sufferers of Pulmonary TBC and the number of death because of Pulmonary TBC reaches 140.000 per year. The large number of sickness placed Indonesia as a country that has the most Third Pulmonary TBC sufferers in the world, after China and India, the prevalence reaches up to 225/100.000 inhabitant. In Pekalongan, according to the Puskesmas report shows there is an increase Pulmonary TBC case year by year, we can find it in a range of sufferers BTA tuberculosis positive findings or Case Detection Rate (CDR) in 2009 registered 88,7% in prevalence is 81,43%, in 2010 is 97,81% in prevalence is 78,73%, in 2011 there is 132, 78% in prevalence 92,79%. This case shows that in Pekalongan, the Pulmonary TBC disease case is still high. Some BTA pulmonary tuberculosis positive cases that be found and cured in Pekalongan in 2011 is 229 sufferers. This number is categorized as high, and the majority sufferers are from the incapable socioeconomic family, so that they have malnutrition tendency. The aim of this research is to know the influence of behavior and nutrient status toward the case of Pulmonary TBC in Pekalongan. This research is a kind of case control research. The independent variable that being researched are behavior and nutrient status, and the sufferers’ contact are as confounding variable.Methods : This research wad done to 70 respondents’ sufferers of TBC with BTA (+) as case and 70 respondents not sufferers as a control to the same characteristics. Results : The result of the finding is that there is no influence between behavior influence toward Pulmonary TBC and the percentage is p= 0,285. Then, there is an influence of nutrient status toward case of Pulmonary TBC and the percentage is p= 0,000 and OR= 7.583 and also there is an influence of sufferers’ contact toward the case of Pulmonary TBC and the percentage is p= 0,049 and OR= 4,387. The researcher suggests doing the effort to increase the crawl of sufferers Pulmonary TBC to increase the new case of finding, increase the hygienic and healthy behavior and increase the citizens’ nutrient status. Key words: behavior, nutrient status, Pulmonary TBC.
