Abstract

This research aims to find whether or not there is any difference of students’ study activity in GoeGebra assisted mathematics learning with laboratory approach and that with classical approach on the second-year-students of senior high school. The research is quantitative in nature. It was carried out at SMAN 1 and SMAN 5 Madiun in the semester two of the academic year 2012/2013. The data were collected using non-test method. It was in the form of observation sheets of students’ activity. The sample was obtained applying cluster random sampling technique. The statistical analysis of the data showed that students’ study activity in GoeGebra assisted mathematics learning with laboratory approach was better than thatwith classical approach.

Abstract

The purpose of learning implementation with the development of digital learning resources in the Micro Teaching Course is to (i) design and implement active and constructive learning dynamics in an effort to develop students' Ignatian Pedagogy-based teaching skills by utilizing Learning Management System Exelsa Moodle; (ii) produce teaching design and teaching videos that students can use in their efforts to develop their teaching skills. In general, the implementation of learning is about 90% in accordance with the plan. The expected final achievement is generally achieved, namely that students have good skills in managing mathematics learning in the peer teaching (Competence), have high spirit in developing teaching ability (Conscience) and have high concern in helping their friends in an effort to develop their teaching skills (Compassion). The use of Exelsa Moodle is also quite optimal, in which the course design and explanations and materials used in the lectures can be well communicated. Videos from short film projects with mathematical themes can also be produced properly and have been uploaded on Youtube. In this lecture the videos recording their teaching practice still tend to be a collection of learning and student labs concerned. These videos can be utilized to serve as examples in the discussion of teaching skills, whether from material mastery, delivery or class management. DOI: https://doi.org/10.24071/ijiet.2018.020210

Abstract

Numbers is an important concept in mathematics and one of the tested materials in TIMSS’s study. One of the efforts to increase students’ ability in solving TIMSS numbers questions is by developing TIMSS model-numbers questions. This current research investigated students’ ability and difficulties in solving TIMSS model-numbers questions, with 31 students in one of junior high schools in Central Java as a sample. Students’ ability in solving TIMSS model-numbers questions was measured by test with 32 multiple choice questions, whereas students’ difficulties when solving those questions were explored by students’ comment sheet. Mean test score indicates that students ability for all content and cognitive domains was moderate. Difficulties experienced by students in solving TIMSS model-numbers questions were misunderstood the meaning of the questions or error in changing fractional forms and making calculations. The results indicated that in addition to having no deep understanding of numbers, students’ opportunity to train their ability in solving TIMSS model-numbers questions was still insufficient.

Abstract

This paper aims to discuss the matrix algebra over interval max-plus algebra (interval matrix) and a method tosimplify the computation of the operation of them. This matrix algebra is an extension of matrix algebra over max-plus algebra and can be used to discuss the matrix algebra over fuzzy number max-plus algebra via its alpha-cut.The finding shows that the set of all interval matrices together with the max-plus scalar multiplication operationand max-plus addition is a semimodule. The set of all square matrices over max-plus algebra together with aninterval of max-plus addition operation and max-plus multiplication operation is a semiring idempotent. As reasoningfor the interval matrix operations can be performed through the corresponding matrix interval, because thatsemimodule set of all interval matrices is isomorphic with semimodule the set of corresponding interval matrix, and the semiring set of all square interval matrices is isomorphic with semiring the set of the correspondingsquare interval matrix.
