Abstract

Early literacy skill of preschool children is very important for children achievement and needsto be stimulated efectively. Parent, especially mother, is a significant person for preschoolchildren. Therefore, how mother stimulate their preschool children to develop early literacyskill still unclear. This study aimed to understand and describe the way of early literacydevelopment at home in family context.  Data was collected by interview and observation toobtain information about the way mother stimulated children interest and skill of early literacy.The informan were six mothers who had 4-6 years old preschool children. Content analyzedshowed that early literacy stimulation had been done using story books and multimediatechnology such as televition and computer. Mother were involved in early literacy activities,however the mother-child interaction were much more directive rather than facilitative.Literacy activities tent to be formal instruction and learning process so that children lessinterest and became unmotivated. Children had less chance to actively explore and manipulateobjects in constructing their knowledge and understanding. Mother did not apply constructivisttheory yet. Recommendation for solving the problem and further study is discussed.   Key words: interest, skill, early literacy, preschool.

Abstract

Proses belajar lebih efektif bila bersifat aktif dan memberikan kesempatan kepada anak untuk membangun pemahaman melalui pengalamannya sendiri. Hal ini memunculkan pertanyaan apakah proses belajar dengan pendekatan multisensori dapat meningkatkan efektivitas pembelajaran literasi? Untuk menjawab pertanyaan ini dilakukan penelitian tentang bagaimana pendekatan multisensori mengembangkan kemampuan literasi anak. Hipotesis dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan multisensori efektif mengembangkan kemampuan literasi anak usia 5 tahun. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen dengan rancangan pretest-postest control group design. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 30 anak kelompok kontrol dan 30 anak kelompok eksperimen. Pengumpulan data dilakukan sebelum dan sesudah pembelajaran literasi menggunakan alat ukur modifikasi Early Reading Screening Instrument(ERSI; Morris, 2000). Hasil analisis data (t = -2,511; p = 0,015) menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan dalam hasil pembelajaran literasi pada kelompok kontrol dan kelompok eksperimen, khususnya kemampuan literasi kelompok subjek yang belajar dengan pendekatan multisensori lebih berkembang dibandingkan kelompok subjek yang belajar tidak dengan pendekatan multisensori. Dengan demikian pendekatan multisensori lebih efektif mengembangkan kemampuan literasi anak usia 5 tahun. Implikasinya, pendekatan multisensori merupakan solusi agar anak prasekolah dapat belajar literasi dengan mengasah potensi kognitifnya dan dengan cara yang menyenangkan.Kata kunci: kemampuan literasi, multisensori, anak prasekolahLearning is more effective when it is active and provides the learner with an opportunity to build understanding through his/her own experience. It raises the question whether the learning process with multisensory approach can improve the effectiveness of early literacy learning? To answer this question a research has been done on how multisensory approach affected the developing of early literacy skills. The hypothesis tested was that multisensory approach was effective to develop literacy skills of children aged 5 years. This study is an experiment with the design of the control group pretest-posttest design. The subjects consisted of a control group and an experimental group that comprised 30 children each. The data were collected before and after the treatment, using the modified version of the Early Reading Screening Instrument (ERSI; Morris, 2000). The results of the data analysis (t = - 2.511, p = 0.015) showed a significant difference in literacy learning outcomes between the control group and the experimental group, namely that the group of subjects that learned to read using the multisensory approach had higher early literacy skills than that who used regular approach. The implication was that the multisensory approach is a solution for the preschool children to learn literacy by improving their cognitive potential with fun.Keywords: early literacy ability, multisensory approach, preschool children

Abstract

This research aimed to develop a model of literacy stimulation for preschool children in order to meet their needs and to overcome parents’ problems in stimulating literacy in their children at home. The data of children’s needs and parents’ problem were obtained from questionnaires and focus group discussion. The questionnaires were filled by 75 mothers whose children aged 3-5 years old in Surakarta. Then, 26 of them attended focused group discussion. The data obtained showed that there was a problem in these children’s early literacy development. Most of them were lack of interest in literacy activities and most of the parents were unable to attract their children’s attention and interest. The problem faced by the parents was the lack of skill in selecting and doing literacy activities in accordance with their children’s needs. A multisensory model was designed to improve pre-school children’s interest in early development of literacy and to increase parents’ skill in stimulating their children’s interest. Data kebutuhan anak dan masalah orang tua diperoleh dari kuesioner dan diskusi kelompok terarah. Kuesioner diisi oleh 75 ibu yang memiliki anak usia 3-5 tahun, anggota posyandu dan tinggal di kota Surakarta. Selanjutnya 26 orang dari 75 orang ibu tersebut, mengikuti diskusi kelompok terfokus. Data yang dikumpulkan menunjukkan bahwa anak memiliki kebutuhan untuk mendapat stimulasi literasi yang menarik perhatian dan menggugah minat mereka terhadap kegiatan literasi. Masalah yang dihadapi orang tua adalah kurangnya keteram¬pilan untuk memilih dan melakukan aktivitas literasi anak yang sesuai kebutuhan anaknya. Oleh karena itu dikembangkan model stimulasi yang bersifat multisensoris (audio, visual, dan kinestetik) agar perhatian dan minat anak meningkat. Abstract

Pandemi COVID-19 menyebabkan beberapa permasalahan di semua lini kehidupan, terkhusus di bidang pendidikan. kurangnya kemampuan pengaturan diri dalam belajar pada siswa menyebabkan permasalahan pada proses pembelajaran daring yang diterapkan selama masa pandemi. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pengaturan diri dalam belajar siswa dengan menggunakan strategi rencana pembelajaran individu (Individual Learning Plans). Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini menggunakan metode pelatihan, pendampingan peserta selama tujuh hari, dan evaluasi program. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah terjadi peningkatan pengaturan diri dalam belajar peserta PKM melalui pelatihan individual learning plan dan adanya perubahan perilaku belajar peserta PKM. Oleh karena itu pelatihan ILP efektif meningkatkan pengaturan diri dalam belajar siswa di masa pandemi. Pelatihan ini memberikan kontribusi pada ranah pendidikan bahwa kemampuan pengaturan diri dalam belajar yang dimiliki siswa dapat membantu siswa untuk menyelesaikan permasalahan belajar khususnya dalam pembelajaran daring di masa pandemi. Oleh karena itu dibutuhkan dukungan pihak sekolah dan guru agar kegiatan seperti ini dapat dijalankan secara berkala sehingga bisa mengevaluasi proses belajar siswa secara tepat.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami, dan mendeskripsikan literasi di lingkungan rumah pada anak pra sekolah. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan menggunakan kuesioner terbuka untuk mengumpulkan data. Informan pada penelitian ini berjumlah 54 informan yang diambil dengan purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa (1) literasi di lingkungan rumah pada anak pra sekolah terdiri dari kesadaran orangtua akan pentingnya pengajaranliterasi sejak dini, yaitu kebiasaan orangtua dalam melakukan kegiatan literasi sebagai kegiatan yang dilakukan sehari-hari sehingga aktivitas itu juga diterapkan kepada anak usia pra sekolah, kegiatan yang dilakukan orangtua dan anak dilakukan secara bersama-sama dan interaktif dan didukung oleh bahan  atau kelengkapan alat yang dapat membantu berkembangnya kemampuan literasi anak. (2) Faktor pendukung literasi dirumah yang ditemukan peneliti pada penelitian ini adalah  berupa kesadaran orangtua akan pentingnya kemampuan literasi awal di lingkungan rumah, aktivitas sehari-hari yangdilakukan oleh informan, kebiasaan membaca bersama, kelengkapan bahan literasi dirumah berupa buku cerita, alat tulis, mainan, dan kegiatan bersama anak yang mendukung literasi dirumah. (3) Faktor penghambat dalam mengajarkan literasi dirumah yang ditemukan peneliti: pendapatan keluarga yang mayoritas rendah, keterbatasan bahan bacaan informan dan suami dirumah serta keterbatasan bahan pendukung literasi dirumah yang disediakan oleh informan

Abstract

Stimulation program is a treatment by providing literacy packages containing guidebooks literacy activities, media literacy in children and socialization for mothers. The purpose of this study was to test the effectiveness of the stimulation program to improve literacy skills in preschoolers. The proposed hypothesis that stimulation literacy program effective in improving early literacy skills in preschool children. This research method using a quasi-experimental design with the non-equivalent control group. Subjects were 30 children aged 3-5 years were divided into an experimental group and a control group. Based on the analysis by the non-parametric statistical test Mann-Whitney U, it was known that there were differences increase early literacy skills in the experimental group and control group. Qualitative analysis showed an increase in the literacy skills by observing changes in the measurement results. Results from this study are important as a new study in finding alternative methods of stimulating preschool children.Abstrak : Program stimulasi merupakan perlakuan dengan memberikan paket literasi berisi buku panduan aktivitas dan satu set media literasi pada anak serta sosialisasi untuk ibu. Tujuan penelitian untuk menguji efektivitas program stimulasi dalam meningkatkan kemampuan literasi pada anak prasekolah. Hipotesis yang diajukan yaituprogram stimulasi literasi efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan literasi awal pada anak prasekolah. Metode yang digunakan yaitu quasi experiment dengan desain non-equivalent control group. Subjek merupakan 30 anak usia 3-5 tahun yang terbagi menjadi kelompok eksperimen dan kontrol. Berdasarkan hasil analisis dengan uji statistik non-parametrik Mann-Whitney U, diketahui bahwa terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan literasi awal pada kelompok eksperimen dengan kelompok kontrol. Analisis kualitatif menunjukan peningkatan kemampuan literasi dengan mengamati perubahan hasil pengukuran. Hasil penelitian ini penting sebagai kajian baru dalam menemukan alternatif metode stimulasi anak prasekolah.

Abstract

Career maturity is a condition that needed to choice the program in higher level study. Henceforth, the low level of career maturity in senior high school student has to be solved with the comprehensive intervention as soon as possible. The purpose of this research is to know the effectivity of Reach Your Dreams Training and career counseling for improving career maturity in senior high school student. This research used Solomon Six Group Design. Subjects of this research are 42 senior high school students with average level of career maturity who are divided into two groups given Reach Your Dreams Training, two groups given career counseling, and two control groups. According to the result, the conclusion of this research is Reach Your Dreams Training and Counseling Career can improve career maturity level in senior high school students effectively. It is caused by the effect of Reach Your Dreams Training and career counseling, and not caused by the effect of pretest.

Abstract

A multisensory model was implemented to improve the stimulation and development of early literacy skill. This implementation was conducted on 56 mothers and their children aged 3-5 years old, by giving them literacy media and assistance to the mothers. The assistance was carried out by 21 literacy ambassadors. Each literacy ambassador helped 2-3 mothers. Mixed-Method Action Research (MMAR) was conducted to implement the multisensory model and evaluate its contribution. Quantitative data were collected by scales, while qualitative data were collected by observation, interviews, and questionnaires. Quantitative data analysis was done with Paired Sample T-Test, and qualitative data analysis was conducted with content analysis. Once the multisensory model was applied, the stimulation of children's literacy shifted from a textual way to a contextual way. Multisensory models contributed to creating a storybook reading routine and playing hand puppets, letter cards, and activity books. This contribution was very important because it significantly increased literacy activity and developed children’s literacy skill.

Abstract

Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui stimulasi kemampuan motorik anak prasekolah oleh ibu di rumah. Stimulasi kemampuan motorik dilihat dari cara ibu menstimulasi kemampuan motorik anak, respon anak terhadap stimulasi motorik yang duberikan oleh ibu dan faktor-faktor yang muncul dan menghambat kemampuan motorik anak. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu metode kualitatif yang datanya dikumpulkan melalui wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi kepada 5 informan dengan kriteria ibu yang memiliki anak prasekolah usia 3-6 tahun dan anak tinggal bersama ibunya. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa cara ibu menstimulasi kemampuan motorik anak melalui mengajarkan seperti halnya bagaimana naik sepeda, memakai sepatu roda, bermain lego, naikturun tangga dan mengajarkan menulis, menggambar, mewarnai, meronce manik-manik, serta ibu turut serta melibatkan diri dalam setiap kegiatan anak. Memperhatikan respon anak ketika dalam kegiatan sehari-hari juga begitu penting untuk anak karena anak memiliki mood yang berbeda-beda ketika ibu memberikan stimulasi kemampuan motorik. Ibu harus memperhatikan mana yang disukaianak dan mana yang tidak disukai anak terutama dalam hal belajar, bermain dan memberikan fasilitas. Memperhatikan lingkungan sekitar juga menjadi salah satu faktor untuk dapat menunjang kemampuan motorik anak karena lingkungan yang baik dapat membawa pengaruh positif untuk anak pula. Canggihnya media seperti halnya handphone menjadi salah satu faktor yang menghambatkemampuan motorik anak. Katakunci: anak prasekolah; ibu; kemampuan motorik; stimulasi motorik
