Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop online methodology for high school biology practicum instructions and their effectiveness on students' science process skills. The subjects in this study were students of class X IPA SMA Al-Hamzar Tembeng Putik, Wanasaba District, East Lombok Regency. The type of research used is development research that produces products in the form of high school biology practicum instructions with online methods. The development procedure carried out in this study is in accordance with the steps based on the Borg & Gall model, with the following stages: 1) research and data collection; 2) planning; 3) development of the initial product draft; 4) initial field trials; 5) revised trial results; 6) field test of the main product; 7) product revision; 8) wide-scale field trials / feasibility tests; 9) final product revision; and 10) dissemination and implementation. This research is only up to the 7th stage. The research instrument used was the observation sheet and the validation sheet. The results showed that the high school biology practicum guide developed using the online method, based on the results of the validation that has been done, the score is 2.96 which is included in the valid category. As for the students' science process skills, the score was 70.5 in the skilled category, 81.5 in the highly skilled category, and 92 in the very skilled category.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of communication skills and cognitive learning outcomes of students who are taught through talking stick learning models. This research was carried out at Darul Hikmah Middle School, Pagutan Village, Mataram District, Mataram City in the academic year 2018/2019. This type of research is a PTK with a Cycle I and II research design. Design sampling is done randomly. The research sample is class VIII. Data communication results and cognitive learning outcomes, obtained using communication questionnaires and multiple choice tests. Research instruments in the form of questionnaires and tests of student learning outcomes. The results of the study of the level of communication skills of students in the first cycle obtained a classical percentage, namely: 1) 5% (always); 2) 20% (often); and 3) 75% (sometimes). Whereas in the second cycle the classical percentage is obtained, namely: 1) 5% (always); 2) 60% (often); and 3) 35% (sometimes). In the cognitive learning outcomes of students, there are significant differences with students who are taught through the talking stick method, in the first cycle the classical percentage is 55%, and the second cycle is 85% classical percentage. Based on the data obtained, it shows that there is an increase of 30%. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that through the application of the talking stick method in integrated science learning can improve communication skills and cognitive learning outcomes of eighth grade students at Darul Hikmah Middle School. This is because the talking stick method can invite students to play an active role and involve all the abilities of students they have.

Abstract

This study aims to: 1) obtain growth regulators that are easy to obtain at low prices, because synthetic growth regulators are relatively expensive for novice researchers and are very difficult to obtain; and 2) to find out whether household waste can be used as a plant growth regulator in vitro which has been widely used and has been successful conventionally in several types of plants. The method used in this study was experimental, using a completely randomized design (CRD) with three replications. The media used was MS media by adding growth regulators from household waste with a concentration of (0-3) mg/L. The parameters in this study were the number of shoots and roots. The data obtained were then analyzed qualitatively, because the resulting data was not normal and not homogeneous. The results showed that the highest number of shoots was at a concentration of 2 mg/L organic waste growth regulator, with 5 shoots and 15.7 roots, with 8 days after planting on chrysanthemum growing media.

Abstract

The existing worksheets (LKS) are generally less attractive, the images in the worksheets are less clear and colorless, no source of images are listed, the worksheets have not used a complete LKS format, such as instructions for using good worksheets for teachers as well as the students and the student worksheets used were not arranged neatly and systematically. The use of learning methods that are not quite right. Therefore it is necessary to have teaching materials related to the 2013 curriculum, one of which is teaching materials that have the guided inquiry learning method. It was drafted a student worksheet based on guided inquiry learning. This study validates the guided inquiry learning based biology student worksheet on the material of life organization systems. This study aims to determine the validity of biology student worksheets based on guided inquiry learning. The method used in this research is development (Research and Development). The design of development research is carried out through several stages that have been modified according to the needs of the researcher, namely: the definition stage (Define), the design stage (Design), and the development stage (Develop). At the defining stage, conducting a needs analysis, the design stage carried out the preparation of worksheets, and the development stage carried out expert validation. The instrument used in this study was a validation sheet. The data collection technique in this research is validation. The data analysis technique in this research is descriptive qualitative. The results showed that the validity of biology student worksheets based on guided inquiry learning was valid. The resulting worksheets are feasible for use with a validity level of 2.96. Thus, It can be concluded that the student worksheet is valid and suitable for use as teaching material.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain the right formula for using Liquid Organic Fertilizer (LOF) from household waste for the growth of Dendrobium sp. The method used was an experiment with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), with three replications. The medium used is MS media by adding liquid organic fertilizer from household waste with a concentration of (0-3) mg/L. Parameters in this study were the fastest day of emergence of shoots, number of shoots, and roots. The data obtained was analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test, because the data obtained was not normal and not homogeneous, a descriptive analysis was used. The results showed that the highest number of shoots was obtained at a concentration of 3 mg/L of organic waste growth regulator with a total of 4.3 shoots and 15.7 roots at a concentration of 2 mg/L the fastest day for shoots to appear after planting was 12 days on plant media and roots appeared on 8th day after planting on Dendrobium sp.

Abstract

Microscope is one of the supporting media in learning Biology. With a microscope objects or organisms that are unable to be seen by the human senses can be observed clearly. The aim of this program is to increase the qualifications and capacity of Biology Education Students through increasing knowledge and skills in using and caring for microscopes. The target of this activity is first semester students of the Biology Education Study Program, Faculty of Science, Engineering and Applied, Mandalika University of Education. The methods used are lectures, discussions, questions and answers and demonstrations using a microscope properly. The results achieved were that participants were able to use a microscope to observe objects and were able to take care of the microscope after use. Participants looked very enthusiastic and interested because they were able to observe plant tissue directly under a microscope. It can be concluded that the basic operational training activities for microscopes and the introduction of laboratory tools were able to increase the participants' knowledge and skills from every aspect measured.
