Abstract

Kaempferia galanga L. or known as Kencur is an herbal plant that is widely used by people with various benefits such as influenza in infants, headaches, sprains, relieving fatigue, inflammation of the stomach, coughing, improving menstruation, inflammation of children's ears, dirty blood, eyes aches, diarrhea, and colds. However, studies that have used Kencur as an antibacterial against Staphylococcus aureus have never been done. Therefore, scientific research is needed to determine the ability of Kencur extract as an antibacterial that inhibits the growth of Staphylococcus aureus. 3 extraction methods were used, with the aim of determining the right method for obtaining Kencur bioactive compounds as antibacterial. The three extraction methods used were the press method, the infusion method, and the maceration method using methanol as a solvent. Each extract obtained from various extraction methods will be tested for antibacterial by observing the growth of Staphylococcus aureus. It was found that with the press method there were no clear zones or growth inhibition zones of Staphylococcus aureus. Using the extract from the infusion method, the same thing is obtained, namely there is no clear zone or growth inhibition zone of Staphylococcus aureus. However, it is different when given an extract from the maceration method using methanol solvent, a 17 mm clear zone is formed but there is no inhibition zone. This can indicate that, methanol extract from Kencur can inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus (17 mm).

Abstract

Early childhood is a child in the age range of 0-6 years. At that time, there was a very high increase in children's development, and this was also a vulnerable period so that the need for deeper health services because children are susceptible to disease. Researchers found people in the City of Mataram, especially people in the District of Sekarbela, are still doing alternative medicine using some traditional medicinal plants to cope if their children experience illness or experience health problems. The purpose of this study are: 1) find out what health problems that are often experienced by early childhood in kindergarten Nurul Iman Sekarbela; and 2) to find out what traditional medicinal plants are given by parents when the child is experiencing health problems. This research includes quantitative descriptive research, which means studying the facts that occur by describing descriptions of traditional medicinal plants used by parents for early childhood health at TK Nurul Iman Sekarbela. The approach used in this research is a quantitative approach. The research sample was taken by purposive random sampling, namely children aged 5-6 years in kindergarten Nurul Iman Sekarbela. Data sources in this research are: 1) Nurul Iman Sekarbela Kindergarten; 2) the guardian of kindergarten students Nurul Iman Sekarbela; and 3) based on the results of discussions with the teacher and walid students obtained several types of diseases that are most often experienced are coughs, colds, and fever. Some types of plants that can and are commonly used by teachers and guardians of students include shallots, betel leaves, gambier, areca nut, lime, and betel leaves for the treatment of fever. Lime for the treatment of cough. Ginger and turmeric leaves for the treatment of colds and colds.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pengalaman pribadi bagi santri, ustadz dan ustadzah Pondok Pesantren Aliyah Nurul Islam Sekarbela dalam menerapkan pola hidup sehat dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Adapun tahap-tahap pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian ini meliputi tahap pendahuluan berupa kegiatan pembukaan dan tahapan inti berupa pemberian materi tentang tananam-tanaman herbal dan pola hidup sehat, dan pembuatan minuman sehat. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 45 santri. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa santri sangat aktif dalam diskusi selama penyampaian materi, dan antusiasn dalam pembuatan minuman dan penanaman tanaman obat. Berdasarkan hasil kegiatan yang dilakukan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pengetahuan santri akan pola hidup sehat dan tanaman obat kesehatan keluarga yang dapat berperan sebagai imunomodulator dalam upaya meningkatkan system imunitas ditemukan meningkat.Independent Health Empowerment of Santri through Toga Cultivation Technology Based on Increasing Immunity at the Aliyah Nurul Islam Islamic Boarding School SekarbelaAbstractThis service activity aims to provide personal experiences for santri, ustadz and ustadzah of the Aliyah Nurul Islam Sekarbela Islamic Boarding School in implementing a healthy lifestyle in everyday life. The stages of the implementation of this service activity include the preliminary stage in the form of opening activities and the core stage in the form of providing material on herbal plants and healthy lifestyles, and making healthy drinks. This activity was attended by 45 students. The results of the activity showed that the students were very active in discussions during the delivery of the material, and were enthusiastic in making drinks and planting medicinal plants. Based on the results of the activities carried out, it can be concluded that the knowledge of students about healthy lifestyles and family health medicinal plants that can act as immunomodulators in an effort to increase the immune system was found to be increasing.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to increase the knowledge and competence of the Patuh Angen agricultural group through NFT hydroponic training. This training was applied to the Patuh Angen’s Farming Group located in the South Marong Jamaq neighborhood, Karang Baru Village, Selaparang District, Mataram City. The training was carried out using agricultural extension methods and agricultural process assistance methods starting from socializing the objectives, explaining the material, monitoring the planting process, harvesting plants, to reflecting on all the processes carried out. The results of this community service activity show that the agricultural group is able to practice NFT hydroponics and produce vegetables with good quality.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe student responses toward online learning. The respondents in this study were students of the first semester of the Biology Education Department in academic year 2019/2020, totaling 33 people. The sample in this study used a convenience sampling technique. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively using Microsoft Excel. Research data shows that only 6 percent of students feel happy with online learning, because respondents think that they are more flexible about the time and place of learning. Meanwhile, 91 percent of students stated that they were not happy due to many factors such as being difficult to meet face-to-face with friends and lecturers, requiring a lot of money to buy internet quota and an unstable internet network. Referring to these results, it is very necessary to conduct an evaluation by lecturers and relevant policy makers to support the achievement of maximum learning objectives.

Abstract

Abstract. The urgency of this research refers to the context of strengthening the profile of Pancasila students which is currently important to do to maintain local wisdom values. The formation and strengthening of character needs to be instilled from an early age so that in the future they become Indonesian people who have local character and have a global perspective. Teaching materials can be used as an alternative learning resource to convey messages about the character of Pancasila student profiles and to train students' literacy skills. Several previous studies related to the development of teaching materials are believed to be able to improve students' superior competence, but still need improvement by adding character strengthening features in the developed teaching materials. In addition, science education has an important contribution in preparing Indonesian human resources with character and 21st century skills as agents of change for the nation. Therefore, innovation is needed in the development of character strengthening teaching materials based on local wisdom in the Lombok coastal area to form a profile of Pancasila students. This research is product-oriented development research in the field of education. This study uses the ADDIE development design which consists of Analyze, design, develop, implement, and Evaluate. Based on the results of research on the development of student activity sheets (LKS) strengthening character based on local wisdom in the Lombok coastal area concluded that the validator's assessment was stated to be very valid for format aspects (84%), material (85.7%), language (86.1%), Assessment LKS in supporting innovation and improving the quality of teaching and learning activities (86.4%) while presentation (77%). Keywords: Teaching Material Validation, Based on Local Wisdom, Lombok Coastal Area Abstrak. Urgensi penelitian ini mengacu pada konteks penguatan profil pelajar pancasila yang saat ini penting dilakukan untuk mempertahankan nilai-nilai kearifan lokal. Pembentukan dan penguatan karakter perlu ditanamkan sejak dini sehingga kelak menjadi manusia Indonesia yang memiliki karakter lokal dan berwawasan global. Bahan ajar dapat dijadikan sebagai salah satu sumber belajar alternatif untuk menyampaikan pesan karakter profil pelajar pancasila serta  melatih  keterampilan literasi  siswa.  Beberapa penelitian  terdahulu  terkait pengembangan bahan ajar diyakini dapat meningkatkan kompetensi unggul siswa, namun masih perlu penyempurnaan dengan menambahkan fitur penguatan karakter dalam bahan ajar yang dikembangkan. Selain itu, pendidikan IPA memiliki kontribusi penting dalam mempersiapkan SDM Indonesia yang berkarakter dan memiliki kecakapan abad 21 sebagai agen perubahan bangsa. Oleh sebab itu, dibutuhkan inovasi dalam pengembangan bahan ajar penguatan karakter berbasis kearifan lokal kawasan pesisir Lombok   untuk membentuk profil pelajar Pancasila. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan yang berorientasi pada produk dalam bidang pendidikan. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain pengembangan ADDIE yang terdiri dari Analyze, desing, development, implement, dan Evaluate. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian pengembangan lembar kegiatan siswa (LKS) penguatan karakter berbasis kearifan lokal kawasan pesisir Lombok menyimpulkan bahwa penilian validator dinyatakan sangat valid untuk aspek  format (84%), materi (85,7%), kebahasaan (86,1%), Penilaian LKS dalam menunjang inovasi dan peningkatan mutu kegiatan belajar mengajar (86,4%) sedangkan penyajian (77%). Kata Kunci: Validasi Bahan Ajar, Berbasis Kearifan Lokal, Kawasan Pesisir Lombok

Abstract

Scientific literacy skills are very important skills in life, not only related to academic aspects, but also in real life. Therefore, science literacy skills become a goal in 21st century education. This study aims to investigate the level of scientific literacy skills of biology prospective teacher, and to find out whether there are significant differences in scientific literacy skills of biology prospective teacher based on semester. In this study, there were 69 prospective biology teachers as voluntary respondents, consisting of 17 (2nd semester), 25 (4th semester), and 27 (6th semester). The Test of Scientific Literacy Skills (ToSLS) is an instrument used to measure scientific literacy skills. Furthermore, the data were analyzed descriptively and multivariatly using SPSS 22 at the 5% significance level. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that our participants' scientific literacy skills were not significantly different. In general, our participants' scientific literacy skills were low in the aspect understanding of element research design, creating graphs, solving problems using quantitative skills, and justify inferences, predictions, and conclusions based on quantitative data, and semesters have no significant effect on scientific literacy skills. Then, the recommendations for the results of this study are described briefly in the conclusion section

Abstract

Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah untuk membina guru-guru dalam penyusunan karya ilmiah, sebagai upaya meningkatkan profesionalisme guru IPA di MA Nurul Islam Sekarbela. Kegiatan ini melibatkan 15 orang guru IPA di MA Nurul Islam Sekarbela sebagai mitra kegiatan. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan pengabdian adalah workshop, dengan rangkaian kegiatan yang meliputi pemberian materi, pelatihan, pendampingan, dan evaluasi. Hasil dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan guru tentang langkah-langkah penulisan karya ilmiah dan artikel ilmiah, serta kemampuan menulis artikel ilmiah di kalangan guru MA Nurul Islam Sekarbela. Hal ini terlihat dari hasil artikel guru yang telah dipaparkan melalui presentasi, yang menunjukkan peningkatan kualitas artikel dan sesuai dengan harapan. Untuk mencapai hasil yang lebih baik, kegiatan pendampingan perlu dilakukan secara kontinu agar guru dapat mandiri dalam membuat karya ilmiah berupa artikel yang dapat dipublikasikan di jurnal-jurnal nasional. Training on Scientific Writing to Improve the Professionalism of Science Teachers at MA Nurul Islam Sekarbela The aim of this community service activity is to provide training to science teachers in scientific writing, as an effort to improve the professionalism of science teachers at MA Nurul Islam Sekarbela. This activity involves 15 science teachers at MA Nurul Islam Sekarbela as partners. The method used in this community service activity is a workshop, with a series of activities including material delivery, training, mentoring, and evaluation. The results of this activity show an improvement in the knowledge of teachers about the steps of scientific writing and scientific articles, as well as the ability to write scientific articles among teachers at MA Nurul Islam Sekarbela. This is evident from the results of the articles presented by teachers through presentations, which show an improvement in the quality of the articles and are in line with expectations. To achieve better results, continuous mentoring activities need to be carried out so that teachers can independently create scientific works in the form of articles that can be published in national journals.

Abstract

The purpose of this community service activity is to introduce and train Indonesian New Generation students (recipients of a scholarship from Bank Indonesia) at Mandalika University of Education, Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara Province in processing organic waste into compost through fermentation with the help of effective microorganism (EM4) as a bioactivator. The stages of this service activity are: 1) introduction; 2) practice activities for the initial process of fermentation; and 3) follow-up activities (observation for 2 months). The 1 day activity is used to process organic waste in the form of dry and wet leaves, then chopped into smaller pieces so that it decomposes more quickly, then fermented using EM4 as a bioactivator (observations after 2 months). Compost fermentation takes at least 2 months to get better results, taking into account the factors that affect composting, including: C/N (Carbon/Nitrogen) ratio, aeration, porosity, humidity, temperature, acidity level (pH), nutrient content, hazardous material content, and composting time. Based on the results of the activity evaluation, it can be concluded that the objectives of this community service activity have been achieved as expected. This achievement can be seen from the ability of students to process organic waste into compost which is ready to be used as fertilizer for plants.

Abstract

The aim of the study was to determine the effect of the implementation of Accelerated Include Blended Learning based on character strengthening on the character of discipline, independence, and student responsibility. This type of research is a quantitative descriptive research using a survey approach. The research sample consisted of 74 students Department of Forestry in the first semester of the 2021/2022 academic year. Purposive random sampling was used as a sampling technique. The research instrument consisted of a character self-assessment questionnaire which before use was tested for the validity and reliability of Cronbach's Alpha. The data analysis technique uses the F test to determine the effect of Accelerated Include Blended Learning on the formation of student character. The results showed that: 1) Accelerated Include Blended Learning had an effect on students' independent character in class A and B with a significance value of p < 0.05; 2) Accelerated Include Blended Learning had an effect on the discipline character of students in class B with a significance value of p < 0.05, but has no effect on class A students with a significance value of 0.262 > 0.05; and 3) Accelerated Include Blended Learning influences the character of the responsibilities of class A and B students with a significance value of p < 0.05.
