Abstract

The angguk is one among many types ofthe selawatan genre, it is an Indonesian traditional Islamic liturgical music. While the selawatan is normally perfomed by a group of men, the angguk includes a group of female dancers as the accompaniment to the selawatan musicians. This additional accompaniment accommodates the transformation form, from music to perfoming art. This study focuses on the analysis of structure and aesthetics of the performance ofthe “Sri Lestari” female angguk group in the Pripih village,at Kulon Progo district. The art was performed by young female dancers who were dressed in colorful costumesto attract the attention of audience. This study concludes that the performing art has been influenced by other type of the selawatan elements, such as the dolalak, which originated from Purworejo, Central Java. The angguk music which is very simple and monotous as the result of subsequent repetition with only little variations, is the verse reading effect of the pantun, which is a typical of traditional letter’s vocal arts. Whilethe pantun characterizes general musical structure, the instrumentation, rhythmic, and the tempo of the music, gives the essence of aesthetic meaning toward the genre. The dance has been used to enhance the performing aesthetics to invite the attention of the audience.Keywords: Angguk, selawatan, aesthetics.

Abstract

The annual Family Planning (KB) March choir competition as a socialization media of governmental family planning program is held in cooperation between the Yogyakarta “Pamungkas” 072 Military Resort Command (known as the Korem 072/ Pamungkas) with the Family Planning Coordinating Board (known as the BKKBN) of Yogykarta Special Region office, to win the bullet‐shaped rotating trophy provided by the Korem 072/ Pamungkas. The purpose of the competition is to socialize  the “Mars KB” song in all levels of the KB program coverage territories, as well as their working patners, in order to influence the living style of families Yogyakarta through the song theme that covers the  governmental programs of population, family planning, and family welfare empowerment. Although the choir competition has been carried out since 2008, this study is focused on the last 5 years events, from 2011 to 2015. This study untilized a qualitative research method that based on data collection from field studies and literature sources. The three research provlems discussed in thi study are: (1) Why chorus has been used as a medium for family planning programs dissemination; (2) how is public response to the choral competition as it is seen from the number of participants, their vocal quality, and their creative ability, which annually has increased. (3) What is the impact of these  soscialization efforts toward the living style changes on Yogyakarta families as well as people understanding on the family planning  programs. This study concludes that choir competition is the effectif media for this governmental progams due to the involvement of various social type of family members as seen in the participant list during the last five years. Most families in Yogyakarta are seem to agree that the successful family planning demanding equally active role from both husband and wife.

Abstract

Vokalisasi berkaitan dengan hal-hal berolah vokal. Proses teknik vokalisasi dilakukan bagi seseorang yang ingin memiliki suara baik, merdu dan indah. Hal ini salah satu dambaan seseorang yang mendalami seni suara, seperti menyanyi dan  tilawah Al-Qur’an.  Lantunan ayat-ayat Al-Qur’an yang lazim disebut seni baca Al-Qur’an (Qira’ah) merupakan salah satu yang dapat diterima di kalangan masyarakat luas. Seni baca Al-Qur’an  seringkali dipertunjukan dan dilombakan secara langsung dalam acara keagamaan dengan istilah Musabaqoh Tilawatil Qur’an (MTQ) dari jenis bacaan tartil, murottal, dan Qiro’ah (mujawwad). Penelitian ini terfokus mengkaji tentang vokalisasi  seni baca Al-Qur’an jenis Qira’ah atau mujawwad, yang dilantunkan seorang Qori’ah terbaik MTQ tingkat Nasional. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah diskriptif analisis dan interpretatif dengan memanfaatkan data kualitatif. Hasil penelitian yang didapat menunjukkan bahwa teknik vokalisasi yang terjadi pada menyanyi dan lantunan seni baca Al-Qur’an memiliki perbedaan dan persamaan. Teknik vokalisasi yang memiliki kesamaan terutama dalam pernafasan, artikulasi,  dan vibrasi.  Perbedaannya dalam pemanfaan rongga resonansi, menyanyi  penggunaan resonansi lebih pada jangkauan nada atau suara, sedangkan tilawah Al-Qur’an penggunaan resonansi lebih pada pelafalan huruf hijaiyah dan jangkauan nada.

Abstract

Ornamentasi atau hiasan merupakan suatu istilah musik yang memiliki arti penambahan beberapa nada atau notasi pada melodi, biasanya satu suku kata untuk beberapa nada yang disebut dengan istilah melisma. Ornamentasi atau hiasan nada sangat diperlukan dalam seni suara untuk memperindah suatu melodi. Ornamentasi melodi juga terdapat pada lantunan seni baca Al-Qur’an dengan gaya Qira’ah atau mujawwad. Seni baca Al-Qur’an tersebut melagukan secara penuh melismatis dengan hiasan-hiasan atau ornamentasi melodi agar lantunan menjadi indah. Seni baca Al-Qur’an termasuk seni suara yang sering dilombakan dalam Musabaqoh Tilawatil Qur’an (MTQ).  Penelitian ini mengkaji ornamentasi melodi dan cara-cara melantunkan seni baca Al-Qur’an dalam Musabaqoh Tilawatil Qur’an (MTQ), melalui pendekatan musikologis dan antropologis perilaku pelantun Al-Qur’an. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ornamentasi yang terjadi pada lantunan seni baca Al-Qur’an dengan gaya Qira’ah merupakan bentuk ekspresi estetis seni suara dari Pelantun Al-Qur’an (Qori/Qoriah) sesuai kemampuan dan kreativitas pelantun dalam berolah vokal. Ornamentation the Art of Qur’anic recitation in Musabaqoh Tilawatil Qur’an as a Form of Aesthetic Expression of the Art of Sound. Ornamentation is a musical term that means adding a few notes or notation on the melody, normally one word for several notes known as the melisma. Ornamentation or ornamented notes are needed in the art of sound to reshape a melody. There are also additional melodic chanting on the art of Qur’anic recitation in the style the Qira'ah the mujawwad. The art of Qur’anic recitation practice in full melismatic with decorations or additional melodic chant in order to be beautiful. The art of Qur’anic recitation includes the sound art that is often competed in the Musabaqoh Tilawatil Qur’an (MTQ). This research examines melodic ornamentation and the ways art of Qur’anic recitation practiced in the Musabaqoh Tilawatil Qur’an (MTQ), through musikological and anthropological approaches to the behavior of in reading. The results of this study suggest that ornamentation piece of art that happens to read the Qur'anic in style is a form of aesthetic expression the art of sound of Qira'ah of its Chanter (Qori/Qoriah) fits the ability and creativity of chanter in doing the vocals.

Abstract

Beatbox adalah bentuk seni yang menggunakan organ vokal manusia untuk meniru suara beriramadan ketukan drum, alat musik, dan suara buatan lainnya. Organ vokal umumnya digunakan untuk berbicara atau berkomunikasi, sekarang dieksplorasi untuk meniru suara berbagai perkusi dan efek suara. Salah satu komunitas yang mewadahi pecinta beatbox adalah Beatboxing of Jogja (BeJo). Setelah dilakukan penelitian dengan menggunakan metode analisis deskriptif dengan menggunakan data kualitatif, beatbox unik dalam hal proses memproduksinya. Banyak teknik yang ditemukan di beatbox, tidak hanya suara perkusi tapi juga efek suara. Dalam proses latihan, BeJo terbagi menjadi tiga kelas, masing-masing kelas memiliki standar penguasaan teknis tertentu. latihan akan dipimpin oleh koordinator dari masing-masing kelas untuk memberi contoh dan anggota akan meniru satu persatu. Beatbox is a form of art that uses the human vocal organs to imitate the rhythmic sounds and drum beats, musical instruments, and other artificial sounds. Vocal organs are generally used to speak or communicate, are now explored to imitate the sounds of various percussion and sound effects. One of community that embodies beatbox lovers is Beatboxing of Jogja (BeJo). .After research using analysis descriptive method by using qualitative data, beatbox is unique in terms of the process of producing it. Many of the techniques found in beatbox, not only percussion sounds but also sound effects. In the practice process, BeJo is divided into three classes, each class has a certain standard of technical mastery. The exercise will be led by a coordinator from each class to give examples and members will imitate one by one.

Abstract

Artikel ini disarikan dari penelitian yang berjudul “Teknik Vokal Dan Pembawaan Lagu Keroncong Stambul “Tinggal Kenangan” Ciptaan Budiman BJ Oleh Subardjo HS”. Ada beberapa permasalahan yang menjadi alasan untuk melakukan penelitian lebih mendalam dan hasilnya dapat digunakan sebagai referensi tambahan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif sebagai pendekatan dalam menggali data-data serta tahapantahapan yang harus dilalui sesuai dengan prosedur. Sumber-sumber data diperoleh melalui metode observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Dalam meneliti teknik vokal dan pembawaan lagu keroncong stambul “Tinggal Kenangan” ciptaan Budiman BJ, terlebih dahulu menganalisa seputar teknik vokal keroncong, bentuk dan karakter lagu stambul. Setelah melakukan analisis pada teknik vokal dan pembawaan lagu keroncong stambul “Tinggal kenangan” ciptaan Budiman BJ, selanjutnya melakukan wawancara kepada beberapa pelaku musik keroncong, meliputi pelaku yang mempunyai latar belakang akademisi serta pelaku yang memang seorang praktisi musik keroncong. Dari hasil penelitian dapat diketahui bahwa teknik dan pembawaan lagu keroncong stambul “Tinggal Kenangan” ciptaan Budiman BJ mempunyai karakter dan ciri khas lagu yang mendayu, dan dibawakan dengan teknik dan improvisasi sesuai dengan pembawaan Subardjo HS. This article is extracted from a study entitled “Vocal Technique And Stylized Keroncong Stambul Song“Tinggal Kenangan” Budiman BJ creation by Subardjo HS”. There are a number of problems that are Reasons for doing more in-depth research and the results can be used as additional references. This sudy uses qualitative descriptive research methods as an approach in exploring the data and the stages that must be passed in accordance with the procedure. Data sources were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. In researching vocal technique and stylized keroncong stambul song Tinggal Kenangan Budiman BJ creation, especially first analyzing the keroncong vocal technique, the form and character of the stambul song, after analyzing the vocal technique and stylized keroncong stambul song Tinggal Kenangan Budiman BJ creation, then interviewing some actors keroncong music, including actors with background behind academics and practitioners of keroncong music. From the result of the study, it can be seen that the Vocal Technique And Stylized Keroncong Stambul Song Tinggal Kenangan Budiman BJ creation has the characteristic song and presented with technique and improvisation in accordance with styled by Subardjo HS.Keywords: vocal technique, styled, keroncong stambul

Abstract

Sight Singing is the ability to read the notation and immediately sing the tune in accordance with the melody on the sheet music. Sight Singing is the activity of singing with solmisasi or movabel "do". This study aims to improve the ability to read beam notation in learning mandatory piano instruments using the Sight Singing approach. The Mandatory Piano Instrument course is one of the practical courses that must be taken by all Music Education Study Program students, ISI Yogyakarta. Not all new students in Music Education Study Program can read the beam notation, so this Piano Compulsory Instrument course course is always feared by students who have not read fluent notation. Sight singing as a strategy to enhance the learning of Piano Mandatory Instruments. This research is focused on the application of Sight singing in learning Mandatory Piano Instruments in Music Education Study Program. This research uses Classroom Action Research which can be categorized as a qualitative-experimental research by applying the Sight singing method. The results of this study are the learning process of the Mandatory Piano Instrument with the application of the Sight singing method more effectively to improve the ability to learn to read notation while playing the Piano Instrument, and students can be more expressing, impressed singing by accompanying themselves.

Abstract

Utilizing Youtube as a Learning Media for Pop-Jazz Vocal Course at Music Education Study Program of Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta. The research aims to reveal the learning process of the Pop-Jazz vocal course and the utilization of youtube as an accompaniment in learning the Pop- Jazz vocal course. This research is expected to provide solutions for students who face problems in the learning process of the Pop-Jazz vocal course during the covid-19 pandemic. It is qualitative research with a case study approach. Data collection techniques were carried out through direct observation during the learning process. Furthermore, interviews with teachers and vocal students of Pop-Jazz were conducted to obtain the data. It was a case study of vocal students of Pop-Jazz Intermediate 1 at the Music Education Study Program. The literature studies were carried out to support the data and references. This study shows that the interest in vocal learning of Pop-Jazz at the Music Education Study Program by utilizing youtube as an accompaniment at the pop-jazz vocal course can be increased.

Abstract

Hadrah Music in Pondok Pesantren Al Munawwir Krapyak. This study investigates an Islamic musical genreknown as the Hadrah, practiced by female students of the Pondok Pesantren (Islamic boarding school) Al Munawwir.It is based on an ethnomusicological fi eld research conducted between May 2007 and September 2008.Thisstudy fi nds that basic song form is exist in the Hadrah’s songs while their lyrics are mostly taken from classical as wellas popular Islamic poem collections. Although the Hadrah song was performed by melodic ornamental improvisationtechniques that normally applied in reciting the Qur’an, the singer always try to follow the Arabic reading rulescarefully. This fi nding has given us an indication that in order to achieve a good result of musical production, aswell, the Hadrah singers have to master not only the art of Holy Qur’an recitation but also Arabic language fl uency.The female Hadrah is normally performed as a religious entertainment in the school’s traditions, such as anniversaryand graduation celebrations.

Abstract

SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Yogyakarta adalah salah satu sekolah swasta di bawah Yayasan Muhammadiyah yang terletak di tengah kota Yogyakarta, tepatnya di Jalan Kapas No. 7 Yogyakarta. Dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan belajar-mengajarnya menggunakan kurikulum nasioal 2013. Kurikulum tersebut mewajibkan mata pelajaran Seni budaya pada siswa-siswa kelas aepuluh, sebelas, dan duabelas. Hingga kini proses pembelajaran seni budaya pada kelas duabelas kurang diperhatikan oleh siswasiswanya karena dianggap tidak penting dan tidak mempengaruhi kelulusan. Oleh sebab itu penelitian ini terfokus pada strategi pembelajaran seni budaya, khususnya pelajaran seni musik, untuk siswa-siswa kelas duabelas.  Penelitian ini mengungkapkan tiga permasalahan yaitu; 1) proses pembelajaran seni budaya, khususnya seni musik, pada kelas duabelas, 2) penerapan strategi pembelajaran seni musik dengan menggunakan media audio visual, dan 3) dampak penerapan media audio visual pada pembelajaran seni musik pada  siswa kelas duabelas di SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Yogyakarta. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian kualitatif yang dilakukan melalui studi pustaka, observasi lapangan, dan wawancara. Hasil yang didapat dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa, pertama, proses pembelajaran seni musik di sekolah ini diawali dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan dan penilaian; Kedua, strategi model pembelajaran seni musik dengan media audio visual yang digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran menerapkan pendekatan saintifik; ketiga, dampak penerapan media audio visual pada proses pembelajaran ialah bahwa para siswa dapat mengikuti pelajaran dengan aktif, baik secara individu maupun kelompok. Di samping itu hasil dari tayangan video dapat menginspirasi siswa dalam pembuatan konsep penampilan musik yang berbeda.
