Abstract

Index saprobic of plankton community was been analysis acording to research results about composition dan abundance the species of plankton have been carried out to water samples from sea waters between Benu River Estuary and Betet Island, December 2002 several years ago, 2002. According to the observation and researching in laboratory can be found 39 species of plankton organism consist of 28 species were phytoplankton and 11 species were zooplankton. There were ten grups of taxonomic categories which can be found in these study namely Cyanophyceae, Chlorophyceae, Desmidiaceae, Bacillariophyceae, Flagellata, Rhizopoda, Copepoda, Decapoda, Pelecypoda and Pisces. The abundance of plankton community were 25 individuals/liter (seawaters between Benu River and Betet Island) upto 127 individuals/liter (seawaters around Betet Island).The aim of calculating of plankton community saprobic index useful for determinate the levels of pollution levels in waters ecosystem. The results of research point out that ies in fact that plankton community saprobic index for five studies location between +1,09 upto +1,60. That of numeral results  means the levels of pollution in around of study was moderate upto very slight with few organic and inorganic substances worked in phase of meso/oligosaprobic upto oligo/mesosaprobic. The lower of saprobic index 1,09 was in Estuary of Benu River and between Benu River and Betet Island. The moderate of saprobic index was the sea end of Betet Island Estuary and Estuary of Betet Island in Tanjung Pring with each results 1,28 and 1,37. The results of that four above consist of the moderate level pollution with the load of few organic and inorganic substances and into meso/oligosaprobic phase. The high of saprobic indeces and the best in these study was at the sea of Betet  island, namely 1,60 that means very slight and few organic and inorganic substances and worked in oligo/mesosaprobic phase.   Keywords:Saprobic Index, Plankton Community, Pollution ABSTRAK Indeks saprobik komunitas plankton dianalisis berdasarkan hasil pengamatan komposisi dan kelimpahan jenis-jenis plankton telah dilakukan terhadap contoh air yang diambil dari  perairan laut antara muara Sungai Benu dan Pulau Betet, Desember, 2002. Dari pengamatan tersebut diperoleh 39 spesies plankton yang termasuk dalam 28 spesies fitoplankton dan 11 spesies zooplankton. Secara keseluruhan termasuk ke dalam 10 kategori taksonomi (Cyanophyceae, Chlorophyceae, Desmidiaceae, Bacillariophyceae, Flagellata, Rhizopoda, Copepoda, Decapoda, Pelecypoda dan Pisces). Kelimpahan komunitas plankton berkisar dari 25 individu/liter  (laut antara S. Benu dan Pulau Betet) hingga 127 individu/liter (Laut di Pulau Betet).

Abstract

Diversity and saprobic indices  of plankton community had been analysis acording to research results about composition dan abundance of plankton species have been carried out to water samples from sea waters around FSO (Floating Storage Operation) Laksmiati Tanker Ship PT. MEDCO E & P INDONESIA at Bangka Straits on March 2007.  According to the observation and researching in laboratory can be found 40 species of plankton organism consist of 30 species were phytoplankton and 10 species were zooplankton. There were nine grups of taxonomic categories which can be found in these study namely Cyanophyceae, Chlorophyceae, Desmidiaceae, Bacillariophyceae, Flagellata, Rhizopoda, Rotifera, Copepoda and Ostracoda. The abundance of plankton community were 37 individuals/liter (seawaters around 1000 m backside of FSO) upto 55 individuals/liter (seawaters around 500 m backside FSO). The aim of calculating of plankton community diversity and saprobic indeces useful for determinating the levels of pollution  in waters ecosystem. The results of research point out that diversity index of plankton commnunity for five research sampling location were lowest 2,42 (Loading Host FSO location) upto 2,98 (500 m backside FSO). The range of plankton diversity index for five location were 2,42 – 2,98 means the condition of plankton community include into stable upto almost very stable (> 2,00 - < 3,00) so that able assessed the levels of pollution was low in rank. The saprobic index of plankton community for five research location had range of 1,17 lowest (1000 m ahead FSO) upto + 1,47 (500 m ahead of FSO) highest. Assessment of saprobic index + 1,17 – 1,47 for five research location prooved that the levels of pollutions was low and view organic or anorganic matters into phase of mesosaprobic/oligosaprobic. Those condition related to parameters of phisics and chemicals almost everage in environment standart value. For example, pH at 500 m ahead FSO and 1000 m backside FSO each 8,55 and 8,51 respectively were view over  environment standart value, but naturally situation. The parameter BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) average for five location were 20,40 – 25,52 mg/l, while the environment standart value was <20 mg/l. Tujuan dari perhitungan indeks keanekaragaman dan indeks saprobik komunitas plankton berguna untuk mengetahui tingkat pencemaran ekosistem perairan. Hasil perhitungan menunjukkan bahwa indeks keanekaragaman komunitas plankton untuk ke 5 stasiun penelitian berkisar paling rendah sebesar 2,42 (lokasi Loading Host FSO) hingga tertinggi sebesar 2,98 (500 m belakang FSO). Indeks keanekaragaman berkisar 2,42 – 2,98 tersebut menunjukkan kondisi komunitas plankton berada diatas posisi mantap hingga hampir sangat mantap (> 2,00 - < 3,00) yang juga dapat ditafsirkan tingkat pencemaran rendah. Sementara itu,  indeks saprobik komunitas plankton untuk ke 5 stasiun penelitian berkisar paling rendah + 1,17 (lokasi 1000 m depan FSO) hingga tertinggi sebesar + 1,47 (lokasi 500 m depan FSO). Dari nilai indeks saprobik  berkisar + 1,17 hingga 1,47 untuk ke 5 lokasi yang dianalisis, membuktikan bahwa  tingkat pencemaran tergolong ringan atau rendah dan sedikit mengandung senyawa organik dan anorganik berlangsung pada fase mesosaprobik/oligosaprobik. Hal ini didukung oleh parameter fisika dan kimia yang sebagian besar rata-rata dibawah baku mutu lingkungan yang diperuntukkan untuk kualitas perairan umum. Namun demikian, ada beberapa parameter yang sedikit melampaui BML. Seperti pH pada lokasi pengamatan 500 m depan FSO dan 1000 m belakang FSO masing-masing 8,55 dan 8,51 sedikit diatas BML, namun hal ini berlangsung alami. demikian pula parameter BOD (Biochemical oxygen demand) rata-rata untuk semua lokasi yang diamati dan dianalisis berkisar 20,40 – 25,52 mg/l, sementara BML nya < 20 mg/l. Kenaikan BOD sedikit diatas BML tersebut memberi indikasi bahwa kualitas air laut di wilayah studi adalah kurang baik, sehingga menimbulkan nilai indeks saprobik terlihat agak rendah.   Kata kunci: Indeks Keanekaragaman, Indeks Saprobik, Plankton, Pencemaran
