Abstract

One of the important factors that has been difficult to be overcome by each country is poverty, beside unemployment and environmental degradation. To eradicate the poverty is one of the goals of each government in this planet to build a social justice. For instance, among Asian-Pacific countries, the economic growth has indicated a tremendous progress, but at the same time most people still live beyond the poverty line and the quality of our environment is still unsolvable. Therefore, the postulate “growth first, clean up later” is no longer applicable. The concept of “green growth” which was declared in Soul (2008) by Asian-Pacific countries might be more suitable in integrating sustainable development for social justice, since one of the approaches to be implemented in green growth is how to involve the poor people in developing the economic sector. Involving the poor people is one of the forms of social justice. So, how students understand those concepts and are there any difference in understanding those concepts among level of study, by conducting a comparative research, is the main topic of this paper. An ex post facto method used and involving students who are now at the undergraduate, master and doctorate programs, at the State University of Jakarta. Around 25 undergraduate students (for batch 2 is 39 & 21), 22 master batch 2 is 20 students), and 22 doctorate (24 for batch 2) students have been selected randomly. The instrument for measuring students understanding green growth has been developed based on (1) Sustainable Consumption and Production (Demand-side), (2) green business, (3) sustainable infrastructure, (4) green tax and Budget Reform, (5) Investment in Natural Capital, and (6) Eco-efficiency Indicators. By applying one-way ANOVA, this research reveals that there is significant and very highly significant (batch 2) difference exist among groups being compared, means that green growth education has an impact on students’ understanding about green growth for social justice, especially in sustainable development.  Finally, it will be easier for them to socialize and improve the implementation of sustainable development. Therefore, intentionally, it is a basic way for eradicating the poverty by accomplishing social justice in sustainable development through education.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to develop a system dynamics model that represents the relationship between population sub system and land conversion sub system with freshwater availability sub system in Bekasi Regency. The models are used to predict the relationship until 2025. The models are designed, both with and without intervention factors to population behavior toward water. The purpose of this study is to strengthen water resources management planning in Bekasi Regency. The method of the research was system dynamics. Water availability as a system was represented as a simple model in line with the factors in this research, so that the model represents the real world. The Causal Loop Diagram showed that factors in sub system and inter sub system formed balancing causal feedback loop. Model behavior simulation showed that freshwater availability (i.e. surface water and shallow ground water) decreased substantially (collapse) from 2003 until 2025. The decrease was caused by water pollution rather than the population growth and land conversion increasing. Population numbers increased slowly (growth), while land carrying capacity decreased gradually (decay). It is predicted, if the condition does not change, water crisis will happen in 2018. When community's behavior for water (i.e. thrifty and sanitation behavior) increase begin 2008, it is predicted that beginning from 2009, the freshwater availability will increase, the water crisis can be suspended, and the freshwater inventory can be reserved. Based on those findings, it could be suggested that water resources management planning should consider water as a system and integrate supply side management, demand side management, and governance side management.

Abstract

Nickel mining activities in Obi Island, North Maluku Province use open-pit techniques, causing environmental problems. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the environmental conditions of the mining area and evaluate the obligations of the government of South Halmahera Regency in preparing and implementing environmental management instruments in accordance with UU No.32/2009. This research is a policy research to evaluate mining activities, using the Haas & Springer evaluation model. The results showed that mining activities in Obi Island, North Maluku Province caused a decrease in the quality of the environment, due to the Government of South Halmahera Regency which was not consistent in protecting and managing the environment, especially in the mining area, this can be seen from the absence of RTRW / RPMJD KLHS Documents, implementation of the UKL / UPL AMDAL that is not yet optimal, and there is no standard for B3 waste management and B3 waste dumping to the environmental media. Thus, the local Regency Government has not been able to implement environmental law policies properly, effectively and efficiently.

Abstract

The environmental crisis that occurred allegedly derived from human mistakes perspective about himself against nature. Therefore, we need a new perspective or paradigm of the environment or the New Environmental Paradigm (NEP). To change the way students to be more environmentalism based on NEP, teachers need to integrate the knowledge and attitude of the environment through the influencing process of instructional leadership held by teachers. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between teachers Instructional Leadership with New Environmental Paradigm (NEP) students in high school. This research was conducted in SMA Negeri 13 Jakarta in April 2016. This type of research is quantitative with survey method through correlational studies. The subjects were students of class X Science with a total sample of 130 students were selected by simple random sampling. Result of the normality data tested by Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, resulting that two data population normality distributed. Data homogeneity tested by Bartlett test, resulting data obtained from both homogeneous variables. Hypothesis test using regression test, found that the regression model Ŷ = 120.839+ 0.238X had a significant and linear relationship. Pearson Product Moment test results obtained by the correlation value of 0.323. The calculation of the coefficient of determination obtained value of 0.108, which means teachers instructional leadership contributed to the students new environmental paradigm by 10.8%, while 89.2% were caused by other factors.

Abstract

Environmental problem is a problem that must be solved by all parties, including students. Responsible environmental behavior arises from awareness of environmental issues. This awareness led to intention and determination of student to set their attitude and behavior towards the problems they faced. Responsible environmental behavior is basically the result of interaction between various factors. Factors that may affect the responsibilities behavior among the personality and the environmental sensitivity. This study aims to determine the effect of personality and environmental sensitivity on the responsible environmental behavior that students have. Research conducted at SMA Labschool Jakarta on the Semester I of 2018/2019 school year. The method used is the survey with quantitative-causal causal approach and path analysis. The sample were 79 students of class XI MIPA. Based on hypothesis test, the value of the path coefficient of X1 to X2 is 0.495, path coefficient X2 to X3 is 0.028, and path coefficient X1 to X3 is 0.568 but the path coefficient X1 to X3 through X2 cannot be calculated. Based on these results, it can be concluded that environmental sensitivity is not suitable as a mediator of variables between personality and responsible environmental behavior. Keywords: Personality, environmental sensitivity, responsible environmental behavior.

Abstract

Environmental problems have occurred in various regions. This problem is a problem that must be solved by many parties, including students. Pro Environmental Behavior is needed by someone to improve environmental quality. Naturalistic intelligence is one of the factors affecting Pro Environmental Behavior. This study aims to determine the naturalistic intelligence factor towards the pro environmental behavior. This study involved 48 students in Jakarta as randomly selected samples. There are two instruments that had been developed to measure these variables. Each of these instruments has a reliability of 0.852 and 0.376. Data has been analyzed by T test. The results showed that there was a difference in the average score of the pro-environmental behavior of students who had high and low naturalistic intelligence at É‘ = 0.3 (1.1). These results mean that there is an effect of naturalistic intelligence on the pro environmental behavior. Therefore, in increasing the pro-environmental behavior of students, factors such as naturalist intelligence can be considered.
