Abstract

Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah ceramah bervariasi dan dialog. Sasaran dari kegiatan ini adalah masyarakat Kokoda yang bermukim di Jalan Viktori Km 9 Sorong, Papua Barat. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah pencerahan tentang makna “torang basodara” antar suku di Papua Barat, harus ada kegiatan pendampingan yang harus dilakukan berulang kali melalui penataan kesadaran dan pola pikir generasi muda. di suku Kokoda. Hal menarik yang penulis temukan dalam kegiatan ini adalah tradisi “gelar tikar” sebagai cerita tradisional, menjadi wadah yang baik untuk membahas segala permasalahan yang muncul dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.

Abstract

Pentingnya penguasaan bahasa asing sebagai salah satu bahasa internasional yang mampu menjadi penunjang dalam dunia kerja menjadi salah satu hal yang dibutuhkan oleh manusia di zaman penuh teknologi ini. Hasil observasi awal di Panti Asuhan Putri Muhammadiyah Al-Amin Kota Sorong, seluruh anak asuh di panti tersebut masih memiliki kemampuan Bahasa Inggris yang lemah. Kegiatan pemberdayaan melalui Bimbingan Belajar Bahasa Inggris telah dilakukan selama kurang lebih tiga bulan melalui kegiatan Pengabdian pada Masyarakat Kuliah Kerja Nyata (PPM KKN). Tahapan kegiatan tersebut telah dilakukan mulai dari persiapan, analisis kebutuhan, penyusunan silabus dan jadwal, pelaksanaan pre tes, pelaksanaan bimbingan belajar, pos tes hingga penjajakan kerja sama antar lembaga. Hasil luaran kegiatan ini adalah satu pengetahuan peserta belajar telah meningkat yaitu kemampuan dasar Bahasa Inggris peserta mencapai target, yaitu lebih dari 50% siswa yang memperoleh nilai dengan kategori baik (71 %) dan 19 % siswa dengan perolehan kategori sangat baik.

Abstract

This article aims at describing two important things in the agricultural tradition in Tidore, namely about olebolo as an oral literary expression of the Tidore farmer entity and farmer rites in agricultural practice in Tidore. This study used a folklore perspective with a phenomenological research type. The author used the Indonesian oral literature expert Endaswuara as a theoretical basis, besides that the author used the economic theory of farmer J. Scott to read, and direct the research in depth. Our findings show that olebolo is an oral literature of farmers singing when they are in the fields and gardens, olebolo is also an encouragement and has mystical and moral content as a true farmer and is able to bring strong solidarity between humans. In addition, the agricultural process in Tidore, especially in Gurabunga, still carries out rituals in the farming process, such as determining the good day during the process of land clearing, planting and harvesting, all of which contain a mystical dimension. Although this ritual is filled with a mystical mechanism, the farmers in Gurabunga also prioritize science, especially the engineering problem of farmers through fertilizers, agricultural bricks can improve the quality and quantity of the harvest. This integration of practice in the world of agriculture shows that the farming community in Gurabunga, cassava with local wisdom but they are so open to the presence of knowledge. Abstract

This socialization aims to increase the knowledge of the people around the Special Economic Zone (KEK) by using a persuasive approach for the Kokoda community in the KEK of Sorong Regency, the infrastructure of this activity can be seen from two things, namely the impact of the socio-economic community and the level of community awareness around the KEK of Sorong Regency. Therefore, it is important for the process of building public awareness to face open competition in special economic zones in the future. This socialization is used with a persuasive approach to the leaders of Kokoda in the area around the KEK. One reason for this approach is that it is much more effective than a collective movement. Because the social basis of society is still very strong with social patrons, it is important that we use a persuasive approach.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research aimed to find out whether or not the application of Collaborative Strategy Reading is effective to improve students’ reading comprehension achievement on descriptive text. It involved quantitative research method using quasi-experimental design with nonequivalent control group design. The sample taken from population of the second class of 2015-2016 academic year in SMP Negeri 1 Sorong, it was 24 students for each class. They were class VIII A and class VIII C. The data from students reading comprehension achievement wag gathered through multiple choice test given before and after doing treatment. Data analyzed through descriptive analysis using program of SPSS 20. The data has shown that the application of Collaborative Strategy is effective to improve students’ reading comprehension achievement on descriptive text. It’s seen form the result of the non-probability test used on Mann Whitney test sig. 0.00 < 0.05.

Abstract

This research aimed to discover the language learning strategies used by successfull students in developing speaking performance in speaking performance at English Language Education Program in Universitas Muhammadiyah Sorong. This research used qualitative method in the form of descriptive qualitative. the participants of this research were taken from the third semester of English Language Education Program in Universitas Muhammadiyah Sorong with the total 6 students. The participants were the students who gained score A in speaking class. Based on the data gathered, the result showed that the students applied both of Direct and Imdirect learning strategies in developing their speaking English Language Education Program in Universitas Muhammadiyah Sorong, namely social strategies, metacognitive strategies, affective strategies in Indirect Strategy and memory strategies, cognitive strategies, and compensation strategies in Direct Strategy. From those of six strategies applied, most of the students tended to apply Indirect Strategy that was social strategies by asking help, working in pair, practicing with the proficient user of English and making small group discussion.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to find out the meaning of women's knowledge in the indigenous education of Fenia Meroh, Tambrauw people. This research used descriptive qualitative method, with a specific case study approach that examines a case study in community life. As for the data collection technique by using Non-participatory observation Non-participation observation, interview and documentation. Data Analysis Techniques Furthermore, from the types of research above, the researcher used an interactive model from Miles and Huberman, (2014: 14) to analyze the research data. The results of this study showed that the Fenia Meroh indigenous education encourages humans to understand eating about civilized and perfect humans. With the rules and ideals, humans do not harm fellow humans and the universe as the source of life. Not to mention the natural contemplation process carried out by the people in Tambrauw, they are familiar with initiation education, that container then divides into two fenia meroh education (women's learning) and mber ion education (men's learning). Sacred rituals and processions to become superior and intelligent human beings without the legitimacy of the State are an end in a path of silence.

Abstract

Alat peraga sederhana merupakan media utama dalam proses pembelajaran agar dapat mempengaruhi pikiran, perhatian, serta keterampilan siswa sehingga mendorong kemauan belajarnya saat proses belajar mengajar di dalam kelas maupun di luar kelas. Alat peraga sederhana yang dimanfaatkan berasal dari bahan di lingkungan sekitar ataupun dapat dibuat sendiri, dalam penggunaannya alat peraga sederhana dapat membantu literasi dan numerasi siswa dalam lingkup pendidikan. Tujuan yang ingin dicapai pada pelaksanaan kegiatan ini adalah penggunaan alat peraga sederhana dalam meningkatkan literasi dan numerasi Bahasa Inggris siswa dengan membaca atau memahami kosa kata Bahasa Inggris sederhana dan mengenali pengucapan angka dalam Bahasa Inggris di sekolah SD YPK Kharisma Kota Sorong. Metode diskusi, pendampingan, dan penyuluhan adalah metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini selama agustus hingga desember. Dari hasil pelaksanaannya dapat disimpulkan siswa SD YPK Kharisma menunjukkan peningkatan jumlah siswa yang aktif menyebutkan kosa kata bahasa inggris yang ditanyakan, yang awalnya tidak ada seorang siswa pun, menjadi semua siswa di dalam kelas yang antusias dalam menjawab soal yang diberikan serta berpartisipasi aktif dalam proses belajar mengajar dalam kelas.

Abstract

In achieving successful learning in education, parents can be a big trigger that can influence it. Whereas in the coastal area, Parents' involvement in learning language has only been investigated by a few former researchers. While Sorong as a coastal area that has been a transit area for Internasional tourism to Raja Ampat, learning the English Language becomes important. For the reason, the recent research aimed to describe the role of parents to motivate students to learn Language at a school in Sorong as a coastal area. The questionnaire was used to collect the data in a quantitative research design. The data has shown that the parents’ role in motivating students to learn English is showed as enough category with 59.62 scales based on the questionnaires’ answers of 24 Parents in Junior hight school 1 of Sorong. Among the three parents' main roles, the motivator was the role that the most involved by parents in 66 scales in the Good category. The second is as an educator, 58 scales as Enough Category, and the last is as a facilitator, 54.6 scales, in Enough Category. The recent research revealed that the parents' role as motivator, facilitator, and educator in motivation their children to learn English in the Coastal area still need to be improved because it is only at enough category.

Abstract

Penyusunan karya ilmiah merupakan tugas yang tak terhindarkan dalam dunia akademik. Namun, banyak mahasiswa, dosen, dan guru yang menghadapi kesulitan dalam mengorganisir referensi dan merujuk pada sumber yang relevan. Oleh karena itu, pelatihan penggunaan aplikasi Mendeley dilaksanakan dengan tujuan memberikan solusi bagi permasalahan tersebut. Pelatihan ini dilaksanakan secara online melalui aplikasi Zoom pada bulan Maret 2023 dengan jumlah peserta sebanyak 58 orang, yang berasal dari berbagai kalangan seperti mahasiswa, dosen, dan guru. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di Kabupaten Sleman, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. Metode yang digunakan dalam pelatihan ini meliputi penyampaian materi secara terstruktur, demonstrasi penggunaan aplikasi Mendeley, serta sesi tanya jawab dan diskusi. Peserta diberikan pemahaman tentang fitur-fitur Mendeley, seperti pencarian, pengelolaan, dan pengutipan referensi, serta penulisan daftar pustaka yang terstruktur. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman peserta dalam penggunaan Mendeley dan kemampuan mereka dalam mengelola referensi serta merujuk pada sumber secara efisien. Peserta juga dapat memanfaatkan fitur kolaborasi Mendeley untuk saling berbagi pengalaman dan pengetahuan. Dengan memanfaatkan Mendeley, proses penyusunan karya ilmiah dapat dilakukan dengan lebih efisien dan efektif. Peserta dapat mengoptimalkan penggunaan teknologi dalam penyusunan karya ilmiah, meningkatkan kualitas, dan memberikan kontribusi yang lebih baik dalam penelitian dan pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan.
