Abstract

People are increasingly encouraged by the advancement of science and technology to use and develop technical achievements in a variety of sectors, particularly multimedia. One way to make use of interactive folklore that is suitable and enjoyable, especially for youngsters, is to produce interactive folklore. Because it is packaged in two unique and fascinating studies for its users, it is intended to be something new and not dull in the process of learning and reading for youngsters. The researcher used the folklore "Malin Kundang," which is based on West Sumatra folklore, in this study. This interactive tale was created utilizing a two-dimensional animation base. Users will be provided a story of Malin Kundang and his mother, going from young Malin Kundang to married Malin Kundang, in this interactive folklore. This interactive folklore contains numerous distinct narratives, each with a different ending and story progression, so that children will be engaged and not bored by the varied storylines and may learn from the various qualities and characters in this interactive folklore

Abstract

Jong Boat is one form of Melayu culture of a unique game in Riau Islands. Preservation of the game is done through the race so it has the potential to increase local and foreign tourist visits, especially in the Riau Islands. Therefore, documentation is required in the form of documentary film as well as can be used as a medioum for dissemination of information or promotion for the public. Documentary film produced through the film production process of the Perahu Jong at once documenting the activities of the race in 2017 by using Luther-Sutopo method, so that the production stage is done systematically and programmed. Continued from production actiivities is film analysus that is used as a cultural promotion medium using the EPIC Model approach. The results of the analysis are: (1) The content of the documentary film is in accordance with the original so as to strengthen the empathy and persuasion of someone to know about the Perahu Jong; (2) The impact felt by the audience is more enthusiastic to join the race; (3) The community’s knowledge of Perahu Jong is increasing because the communication messages applied to the film are packed in detail and simple; (4) Based on EPIC model analyzed from empathy, persuasion, impact and communication on documentary of Perahu Jong, it can be concluded that documentary should be used as media of cultural promotion

Abstract

Nowadays, English should be mastered by all level of people and for all ages namely for children, teenagers or adults. There is a special challenge for improving the ability especially for hinterland society. For Rempang Cate citizen which is one of tourism destination in Batam, it is still far from the expectation. The idea of this community service is to improve the communication as the tourist destination host especially English for tourism. Finally, by giving this training to them, it is expected that they are able to attract more tourst to visit this place. The method of this community service is by giving training to three levels of class by providing material related to simple conversation fo tourism. Based on general result of questionnaire, everything ran well and no obstacles and difficulties happened to organize this training. It was very helpful to improve the readiness of the society to welcome the tourist.

Abstract

Sembulang Village has high potential from marine resources, tourism, to the potential geographical position that supports inter-island shipping lanes. This presents sourced its challenges to make the most of the existing economic potential while maintaining the ecological potential to achieve sustainable coastal development. Practical skills possessed by fishermen in K Sembulang Village become important provisions in the realization of sustainable development, but this needs to be harmonized with the support of various scientific backgrounds. Terrain complex analysis is able to accommodate various considerations in identifying the best sea transportation routes while minimizing negative effects on the environment. Based on these advantages carried out socialization to fishermen who are in Kelurahan Sembulang. From the activities that were successfully held, feedback obtained from participants' satisfaction with the provision of material reached 89.67%, scientific benefit aspects for the residents amounted to 87.29%, facilities supporting activities valued at 84.28%, while as much as 96.77% residents wanted similar activities to be held again in Kelurahan Sembulang.
