Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the same leading sector based on the Klassen Typology method, Location Quotient, Shift-Share, Growth Ratio Models and Overlay. This study was based on the fact that most of previous studies only determined the leading sectors based on one method only and none of them determined which sectors categorized similar. Therefore, it is important to determine superior sectors from several methods and which sectors must be prioritized in the development. The data of this study were derived from the average GRDP of Blitar City on the basis of constant prices in 2010 according to business fields from 2011-2017. The results of this study conclude that the same leading sectors based on these 5 methods in Blitar City are 1) Large and Retail Trade; Car and Motorcycle Repair, 2) Information and Communication, and 3) Financial and Insurance Services. Therefore, the Blitar City government must continue to develop these sectors by increasing investment and ease of licensing so that the sectors can continue to increase its contribution to the economy of Blitar City.

Furthermore, the aim is also to analyze the influence of soybean consumption, per capita income and real exchange rate to soybean import and the prospect of soybean import in Indonesia from 2015 - 2020. The data used is from the time series 1983 until 2012. The analysis model in this study uses Ordinary Least Square (OLS) and Forecasting Vektor Autoregression (VAR). The result shows with OLS at soybean consumption equation that soybean import, per capita income, and soybean price significantly effects on the soybean consumption in Indonesia and it’s prospect with forecasting VAR shows that soybean consumption always increasing from 2015 - 2020. Moreover, soybean consumption, per capita income, and the real exchange rate significantly effect on soybean import in Indonesia and it’s prospect with forecasting VAR shows that soybean import always increasing from 2015 - 2020. The Soybean import values larger than soybean consumption values from 2018 - 2020. Abstract

This study aims to determine (1) the effect of foreign debt, economic growth, exchange rates, oil prices, inflation and interest rates to the budget deficit in Indonesia. (2) the effect of the budget deficit, net exports, foreign exchange reserves, FDI, and savings investment gap on foreign debt in Indonesia. While this type of data is data documentary, the data source is a secondary data as well as data in the form of time series of the first quarter of 2000 - the fourth quarter of 2014. This study uses a simultaneous equation model analysis tool with Indirect Two Stage Squared method (TSLS). Endogenous variables in the study is the budget deficit and foreign debt. Whereas exogenous variables are economic growth, exchange rates, oil prices, inflation, interest rates, net exports, FDI, investment and savings gap and foreign interest rates. The study concluded that (1) foreign debt, economic growth, exchange rates, oil prices, inflation, and interest rates have a significant effect on the budget deficit in Indonesia. (2) budget deficit, net exports, foreign exchange reserves, FDI, and savings investment gap significantly influence the foreign debt in Indonesia. In other words, when the budget deficit rose, net exports declined, foreign exchange reserves decreased, FDI down, as well as foreign interest rates also decreased the budget deficit will increase. However, variables and savings investment gap does not significantly influence foreign debt in Indonesia. Based on these results the policies that can be recommended increase economic growth as measures to reduce the budget deficit, stabilize the prices of basic necessities that inflation is under control, keeping the exchange rate certainty so that exporters are not at a loss as well as the interest rate that can keep the investment climate. The conditions are expected to emerge from the economic certainty that may increase the state budget so avoid the problem of budget deficit. In addition, a reduction in the dependence on foreign debt can be achieved with fiscal discipline, maintain the balance of payments deficit, the reduction of foreign debt abroad and trying to divert the foreign debt into the country. Keywords : Budget Deficit, Foreign Debt

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze responses between air transportation, tourist visits, exchange rates and employment opportunities in Indonesia. This type of research is descriptive and associative, where the data used are secondary data in the form of time series from 2000 fourth quarter to 2018 fourth quarter. This study uses the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) method through the analysis of block causality test, Impulse Response Function (IRF) and Forecast Error Variance Decomposition (FEVD) to seeing the variability response of an endogenous variable due to the presence of other endogenous variables. The results of this study indicate that: (1) Variability of air transportation is not contributed by the shock of tourist visits, exchange rates and employment opportunities in the short term, but in the long run, variability of air transportation is contributed by shock of tourist visits, exchange rates and employment opportunities. (2) Variability of tourist visits is only influenced by short-term air transportation shock. Whereas air transportation, exchange rates and employment opportunities in the long run contribute to influencing the variability of tourist visits in Indonesia. (3) Exchange rate variability is contributed by air transportation shock, tourist visits and work opportunities in the short and long term. (4) Variability of employment opportunities is contributed by air transportation shock, tourist visits and exchange rates in the short and long term in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study is based on the long debate that occurs among economists about the effectiveness of fiscal and monetary policy on the output of a country. Some economists argue that fiscal policy is more effective against the output of a country while others argue that monetary policy is more effective. However, the economist's debate only sees the effectiveness of fiscal and monetary policy on output. No such economist sees the effectiveness of fiscal and monetary policy on other macroeconomic variables such as balance of payment. Therefore, this study contributes to analyzing the most effective policies on balance of payment in Indonesia. This study uses time series data from 1970-2015. Fiscal policy data is measured from real government expenditure, monetary policy is measured from real money supply, and balance of payment is measured from the overall balance sheet value. Data analysis techniques use Vector Auto Regressive (VAR), Impulse Response Function (IRF) and Forecast Error Variance Decomposition (FEVD). A policy is said to be effective if the FEVD method shocks one policy against output variability and the price is greatest compared to other policies. The results conclude that fiscal policy is more effective on balance of payment than monetary policy. This is evident from the shock of fiscal policy based on FEVD method is the most important role to the variability of balance of payment in Indonesia when compared with fiscal policy. With the word meaning, fiscal policy has a big role to the changes that occur in the balance of payment in Indonesia.
