Abstract

This research explores the analysis of the optimum setting for the noise (80dB, 77dB, 80dB), temperature (18°C, 24°C, 34°C) and illumination (155lux, 200lux, 300lux) to optimize manually envelope folding jobs productivity. The analysis that will be implemented here is design experiments factorial method to determine the significant factors that influence manually envelope folding jobs productivity. Also, the response surface method will be applied to obtain the approximation model for manually envelope folding jobs productivity as a function of the factor found earlier so that the most optimum result can be obtained under a design optimization method.

Abstract

Shuttlecock consists of two parts that are dop and feather. Dop is part of the shuttlecock-shaped half-sphere which is at the end of the shuttlecock. In a dop small industry of Mr. Sumeri in Jagalan have four main activities in the production processes that are dop pressing, dop cutting edge, put a cloth on the end of the dop and counting. The calculation activity done during the change of dop production process, after buying dop that has not been coated nylon fabric and when there is order. Calculation is needed to determine how many dop that has been processed by the workers as the basis for the calculation of the workers earned wages each week. Calculation activity can disturb the workers because they have to use work time to calculate the dop that has been processed and waiting for the counting is complete. In this study is conducted redesign tool of dop counter based on anthropometri with RULA analysis. The purpose of this research is to produce a dop counter so that it can improve ergonomic working posture. The tool is designed as dop counter with anthropometri approach to retrieve data anthropometri 3 workers in the dop industry of Mr. Sumeri. By RULA method for dop calculating, the activity use thier upper body is more dominant which it aims to investigate the working environment that is not ergonomic in the human upper body. The result based on RULA is posture of workers can work longer when using the tool indicates a high risk level. Furthermore redesigned tool of dop counter provides working posture at the lower level of risk and the time counsumed by dop calculation process using a new tool as 1 minute per 20 dozen dop. This research produces dop counter-dimensional with high, wide and long of dop counter, respectively 67 cm, 63 cm and 80 cm; dimensions of the dop channel are length: 84 cm, width: 52 cm and height: 20 cm; dimension counter are length: 48 cm, width: 40 cm and the dimensions of the hole are length: 3.5cm, width: 3.5 cm and height: 6 cm. The total cost of making the new light bulb counter is Rp 266,000.00.

Abstract

One of the pottery found in central Java in Bayat, Klaten. The process of making pottery is still done manually. In previous research, Febrianti (2009) has designed the turntable to generate employment and chair rotation driven manually by a foot to workers by applying pottery maker RULA method. Output results of this study was the design and yet was tested against pottery workers, so can not guarantee whether the tool has an ergonomic or not. In this experiment, pottery maker who still form the design image and then made a real pottery maker. The tool was tested against the six workers. From the test results obtained by some of the weaknesses of the old design tools. So that should be added some specs to get comfortable in operating the old design tool.

Abstract

Facts in the real condition is show that the little entrepreneur using the conventional devices in small village for make “es puter”, causes the worker have many complaint while making “es puter”. Appear this complaint can make musculoskeletal injury for the worker. As a result of this activity there are many complaints with the most dominant of complaints occur in the neck, arm, wrist, knee, and ankle.That injuries happen while revolve the ice tube, the process experience friction with ice in the outside of the tube. In this research have done identify desire and expectation of worker had done with interview, and the result is translated become necessity and become a concept of design device. The second phase is determinate device dimension base on anthropometric dimension. The last phase is making machining “Es Puter”. The result is “es Puter” machine with revolve mechanism using motor with 1400 rpm, is reduction became 70 rpm, and the production cost Rp 3.557.400,00. This device giving repair in processing position in making “Es Puter” then can decrease musculoskeletal injury, as well as ave safety, comfortable, and can shorten production time became 1 hour.

Abstract

This research aims to design chair for helping female operators in performing their work. The design is based on anthropometric measures of 10 female operators. Percentile system is then applied to calculate the chair dimensions so that the chair may be used by operators who have wide range of physical attributes. The design results a chair with five fix legs to maintain its stability. The seat is 41 cm × 39 cm and positioned 57 cm from the floor. The chair has an adjustable lumbar support so that the operator may lie back during the rest time. Both seat and lumbar support are covered with cushion to reduce pressure to the body. The operator can move freely to reach fuel machine and the vehicle without having to turn her body because the chair can rotate 360° horizontally.

Abstract

New innovation of electrics technology is not basically easy to permeated by society, includingsaving energy lamp. In fact, theese topics is interesting for the researchers. Reducing of electrics consumption in usage of lamp almost 50% from total cost usage of electrics energy. This research aim to choose the best tube lamp by considering of energy efficiency and reduce expense of electrics. Measuring input energy and output energy is conducted to two lamp type taken as this research namely transformer system lamp (NST) and electronic system lamp(NSE).Measuring of input energy and output energy is conduted by two factors experimental design with one block (Factorial Experiment Randomized Block Design). Theese factors are tube type and ballast type, while energy size as block. Result of research is analysed by using analysis of variant (Anova). Calculation of usage expense is conducted by considering four category according to electrics basic tariff (TDL). Based on analysis of variant, it is known that tube type and factor interaction do not have an effect significantly to input energy and output energy. While for the efficiency of energy, only tube type factor which do not show influence significantly.Percentage differenciation average of input energy, output energy, and energy efficiency NSE each 49%, 63%, and 49% bigger than NST. NSE more beneficial than NST as technically and economically. Most economical NSE is 20 watt.

Abstract

Ketidaktersediaan sarana di home industry Tarjo guitar sebagai pembuat gitar perlu mendapat perhatian dan perlu diperbaiki dalam meningkatkan produktivitas dan performansi kerja karyawan. Proses produksi dimulai dengan memproduksi gitar setengah jadi yang diamplas di stasiun pengamplasan, kemudian masuk proses pemasangan kawat tipis pada leher gitar pada stasiun shande dan diakhiri dengan stasiun finishing. Stasiun finishing terdiri atas proses pengecatan dasar, pemasangan stiker dan pengecatan melamin serta pemasangan glayer dan senar. Pada bagian pemasangan stiker, karyawan mengerjakan pada posisi duduk di lantai dengan kaki diluruskan ke depan tanpa menggunakan meja kursi atau sarana kerja yang lain dalam menyelesaikannya. Kondisi yang demikian dialami pekerja setiap hari yang berakibat menimbulkan rasa tidak nyaman bagi pekerja.Pada penelitian ini dilakukan dengan memperhatikan kebutuhan operator pemasang stiker gitar. Daftar kebutuhan operator yang diperoleh melalui wawancara dan analisis dengan postur kerja dengan metode RULA kemudian dikembangkan menjadi desain alat yang disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan dan anthropometri operator. Hasil penelitian ini adalah alat bantu pemasangan stiker gitar berupa meja dengan kotak press stiker yang dilengkapi dengan pencekam permanen dan pencekam portable untuk mencekam gitar dan ketinggian meja yang disesuaikan dengan anthropometri operator. Hasil rancangan mampu mengurangi keluhan dan menurunkan level resiko postur kerja ditunjukkan dengan penurunan skor akhir RULA dari 7 ke 3 yang berarti level resiko menjadi kecil dan tindakan diperlukan untuk beberapa waktu ke depan.

Abstract

The aim of this paper is redesign the ceramic’s appliance using activator in unidirectional movement base on anthropometri approach as a effort to decrease the work load. The object of this research are workers in Pagerjurang Ceramic Center of Bayat village, Klaten. The redesign steps consist of four steps, this are evaluating the old appliance; determining the new appliance’s specification; technique calculation; and cost calculation. The redesign result is an ceramic’s appliance which the dimension is 73 cm for the high, 60 cm for the wide, and 106 cm for the length. In the length dimension, there are space for the clay material at the left side and space for the ceramics at the right side of the worker. The new appliance activator consist of pedal (kick wheel with manually) and the main energy transmission system using kriwil chain. Pedal related to the chain and spiral spring so that enable the unidirectional foot movement. From the physiology of work show that there is reducing work load when the sample workers tried the new ceramic’s appliance.

Abstract

This research is about the improvement of working posture by implementing a tool design. In the previous condition at the small workshop, Loh Jinawi, the working postures of the mechanic’s body when doing motorcycle service was not ergonomics and potentially caused pain or even injure in afterwards the day. By Nordic Body Map equipped questionnaire, the exact body parts which were affected by these working positions were known. On the other hand, there was a REBA method that used to measure how much risks that borne by the mechanic for these postures. Considering the condition of the workshop, there was no solution to fix the problem except using a specifically designed motorcycle lift. We transformed the problem information from our preliminary study into the design requirements of the tool. The tool was developed by anthropometry consideration. The final REBA evaluation showed that the tool could significantly reduce the risks.

Abstract

CV. Titian Mandiri is a company that produce bottling water which still use manual lifting method. The advantages of this method are more flexible, effective and low cost. On the other hand, bad manual lifting can generate pain in several operator body segments, such as hand, back, waist and thigh.Leave from those reality, it is needed to do some working method analysis and improvement based on biomechanical principle. NIOSH method used to know lifting safety limit and Chaffin-Anderson equation used to predictable the force that happened on abdominal segment, L5/S1 and operators hand segment. This study shows that RWL value for lifting to pick up car is 8,223 kg and lifting to the box car is 6,208 kg. The LI value for lifting to pick up car is 2,311 and for lifting to box car is 3,060.The improvement of working method was done by rearrange the gallon position and add amount of table. The high of the table is 52 cm and the gallon position would be in front of operator sagital line exactly. This improvement changes RWL value for lifting to pick up become 13,820 kg and 11,475 kg for lifting to the box car. LI value for lifting to the pick up descend become 1,374 and LI value for lifting to the box car become 1,6557.
