Abstract

A paradigm influences what we see and conceive about certain facts. Paradigm can also influence what we accept as a truth. Yet, the debate over which paradigm and methodology is best suit for marketing and consumer behavior has begun since 1980s. Many researchers criticized the domination of logical empiricism paradigm and offered alternative paradigm to understand marketing and consumer behavior. This article discusses several paradigms and methodology, which are part of qualitative paradigm, and compares them with positivism paradigm. This article will also point to the importance of reconciliation between qualitative and quantitative paradigm in order to improve marketing and consumer behavior studies.

Abstract

Awareness of healthy lifestyle in society is increasing day by day. Therefore, the fitness centers more motivated to focus on these business opportunities. Hence, it is important for companies to understand how to satisfy consumers to obtain consumer loyalty. Main variables were applied to predict customer loyalties areswitching cost, customer value, physical environment, and customer satisfaction. Data was collected through questionnaires distribution to students at private university in Tangerang. Data then was analyzed to by applying multipleregressionswith SPSS software. The results showed that there are three hypotheses are supported. The hypothesis is the relationship between switching cost and customer value, the relationship between customer value and customer satisfaction, and the relationship between customer satisfaction and customer loyalty. There is a hypothesis that is not supported, namely the relationship between the physical environment and customer satisfaction. This study also provides a discussion and offers direction for further research.

Abstract

Knowledge is recognized as one valuable asset for many organizations. Thus, knowledge-sharing is one of important activities in many organizations, including university. Knowledge sharing is defined as activities of transferring or disseminating organizationally relevant information, ideas, suggestions, and expertise with one another. This research applied Christian values as a moderating variable in the framework of theory of planned behavior. The aims of this research to assess applicability of the theory of planned behavior to predict knowledge sharing and to examine the effects of Christian values in the relationship between attitude and intention to share knowledge. A self-administered questionnaire was used to collect the data for this study. The data was then analyzed using structural equation modeling.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between store environments consisting of social cues, design cues, ambient gestures, and merchandise cues and their impact on cognitive and affective consumer evaluations of stores and merchandise that will influence approach behavior. The retail industry in Indonesia has increased inevitably. This development is predicted to continue to increase to 8% by 2018. As a result, stores are competing to offer new and unique experiences for both cognitive and affective customers. Over the past decade, similar research has rarely been done. In addition, item cues variables are also rarely mentioned in previous studies. Therefore, this study aims to explain more about merchandise cues. The basis of this research is quantitative method, using descriptive research type with research object Foodmart Primo Maxxbox Lippo Village. The sample size involved 200 respondents selected by applying purposive sampling. After data collected, the data were analyzed by using structural equation modeling (SEM). There are three out of 12 hypotheses that were not supported in this study. The three hypotheses are the relationship between ambient cues with consumers’ cognitive evaluation of the store, and no relationship between consumer cognitive evaluation and approach behavior. Theoretical and managerial implications and suggestions for further research are also discussed in this study. This study aims to determine the relationship between store environments consisting of social cues, design cues, ambient gestures, and merchandise cues and their impact on cognitive and affective consumer evaluations of stores and merchandise that will influence approach behavior. Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between factors that influence entrepreneurial intentions which consist of entrepreneurship education, entrepreneurial attitudes, subjective norms, self efficacy, and mentoring. Research on factors that influence entrepreneurship has been carried out by many previous researchers. However, mentoring is a variable that is rarely studied in previous studies. This study will discuss more about the variable mentoring. In this study, the quantitative paradigm was used as the basis of this study, with the type of descriptive research. The object of research used is the entrepreneurship study program. While the analysis unit used is an individual. Data collection methods in the form of questionnaires with 24 indicators with an interval measurement scale that is a 5-point Likert scale. The sampling design used is non-probability sampling, namely judgment sampling with students and students majoring in entrepreneurship as active as a sample. The number of samples used in this study is 85 for preliminary studies, and 157 for actual research studies. After the data is collected, the data is then tested for reliability and validity using Cronbach's Alpha and construct validity using Pearson Correlation and also Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA). After passing the reliability and validity tests, of the 24 indicators used previously, only 15 indicators met the requirements for reliability testing and validity testing. Then the data was then analyzed using PLS-SEM. The results of this study are from eight pre-determined hypotheses, there are two hypotheses that are not supported by several reasons. From this study, it can be concluded that there is no relationship between entrepreneurial education and student self-efficacy, and the absence of a relationship between mentoring and student self-efficacy.
