Abstract

Research on the distribution and colony size of nests of Nasutitermes sp. (Isoptera: Termitidae) have been conducted in Sebesi Island, Lampung. The method used in this study is a direct observation on the northern coast Sebesi Island. The results showed there were 60 nests of termite Nasutitermes sp. on the nine hosted tree species, i.e. Spandias sp., Leucaena leucocephala, Cocos nucifera, Caesalpinia pulcherrima, Moringa oleifera, Rhizophora apiculata, Delonix regia, Pandanus sp., and Morinda citrifolia. These termite nests vary in size. Direct counting on two nests indicates that colony size of Nasutitermes sp. on the nest sized 0.00828 m3 were 20,192 individuals and on the nest sized 0.1756 m3 were 35,086 individuals.The result of the the research gives contribution source of learning material in biology learning. Kata Kunci: Nasutitermes sp, rayap pohon, sebaran, ukuran sarang

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perilaku agonistik intraspesifik koloni Nasutitermes matangensis (Isoptera : Termitidae). Kajian perilaku agonistik intraspesifik koloni Nasutitermes matangensis di Pulau Sebesi Lampung telah dilakukan pada bulan November - Desember 2016. Nasutitermes matangensis merupakan salah satu jenis rayap dari famili termitidae. Penelitian ini tergolong dalam penelitian deskriptif, teknik yang digunakan untuk pengambilan sampel pada penelitian ini adalah Direct sampling yaitu dengan cara pengambilan sampel secara langsung yang dilakukan di Pulau Sebesi Lampung kemudian dilanjutkan dengan Purposive sampling. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, perilaku agonistik yang terjadi pada individu rayap kombinasi prajurit versus prajurit pada level antenasi dan menghindar, sedangkan perilaku agonistik individu rayap kombinasi pekerja versus pekerja menunjukkan level antenasi, menghindar, dan menyerang, sementara perilaku agonistik individu rayap kombinasi prajurit versus pekerja menunjukkan level antenasi, menghindar, dan menyerang. Semua kombinasi baik prajurit versus prajurit, pekerja versus pekerja, dan prajurit versus pekerja dapat disimpilkan bahwa status agonistik persentase negatif. Perilaku agonistik dinyatakan positif (+) jika persentase perilaku menyerang ≥ 80% sedangkan jika menyerang ≤ 20% dinyatakan status agonistik negatif (-).

Abstract

Salah satu penyakit yang berbahaya dan dapat menyebabkan angka kematian tinggi yaitu virus Dengue yang di tularkan kepada manusia melalui gigitan nyamuk Demam Berdarah Dengue (Aedes aegypti) betina. Untuk mengurangi penggunaan pestisida sintetik maka diperlukan penggunaan pestisida nabati yaitu ekstrak daun patikan kebo (Euphorbia hirta L.) karena di dalam daun ini terdapat kandungan senyawa metabolit sekunder yang dapat berperan sebagai ovisida. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah ekstrak daun patikan kebo (Eupborbia hirta L.) dapat digunakan sebagai ovisida terhadap telur nyamuk Demam Berdarah Dengue (Aedes aegypti), dan mengetahui konsentrasi yang paling efektif dari ekstrak daun patikan kebo (Eupborbia hirta L.) sebagai ovisida nyamuk Demam Berdarah Dengue (Aedes aegypti). Penelitian ini dengan menggunakan metode Rancangan Acak lengkap (RAL) yaitu terdapat empat pengulangan dengan enam perlakuan yaitu kontrol negatif (Aquades) dan kontrol positif (Tween 80) serta konsentrasi 0,125%, 0,25%, 0,5% dan 1 %. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, ekstrak daun patikan kebo (Euphorbia hirta L) dapat digunakan sebagai ovisida terhadap telur nyamuk Demam Berdarah Dengue (Aedes aegypti) dari konsentrasi 0,125% - 1%. Semakin tinggi konsentrasi ekstrak daun patikan kebo (Euphorbia hirta L) yang digunakan maka semakin banyak telur yang tidak menetas.

Abstract

In this study, termite bait comprising pinewood of sawdust and a slow action insecticide, fipronil, was made and applied to control subterranean termite Macrotermes gilvus (Hagen) (Isoptera: Termitidae) in Bandung. Colony size was measured using capture-mark-release-recapture prior to the bait application, along with the measurement of wood consumption at each station.  Colony foraging populations at all stations were estimated to be 77,951 termites, with mean wood consumption rates ranging from 0.02 to 6.16 g/station/day. Observation at 18 stations installed with bait consisted of 40 ppm fipronil mixed with pinewood sawdust showed that number of foraging activity termites was effectively reduced in 40 days. It is concluded that fipronil-treated pinewood sawdust bait is effective in controlling the population of foraging M. gilvus workers in 40 days.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the discovery learning model integrated learning start with a question of mathematical communication skills. This research is a quantitative research with a type of quasi experiment. The sampling technique in this study is the random sampling technique. Data collected through interview observation and test. The data analysis technique used is the uncorrelated t test. Based on the results of research and data processing, it was found that there was an influence of discovery learning integrated learning model start with a question and discovery learning learning model on mathematical communication skills. Furthermore, mathematical communication of students by using the discovery learning model integrated learning start with a question is better than mathematical communication of students using discovery learning learning models.

Abstract

Steamed cake is a type of cake that is enjoyed by all ages, both children and adults. This cake is usually made from wheat flour. Wheat flour causes dough to rise due to the gluten content. The use of excessive flour can be harmful to health. One alternative effort to replace wheat flour is to combine green bean sprout flour and Ambon banana peel flour. This study aims to determine the antioxidant level, the protein, fat, water, ash, and carbohydrate levels in steamed cakes made from green bean sprout flour and Ambon banana peel flour. This type of research is experimental. Antioxidants were analyzed using the DPPH method, protein was analyzed using the Kjeldahl method, and fat was analyzed using the Soxhlet method. The research results showed that the antioxidant activity in green bean sprout flour was 360.30 ppm which was classified as very weak, banana peel flour was 165.58 ppm which was classified as weak. The highest protein content was in sample T0 at 7.01%, the highest fat content was in sample T0 at 0.77%, the highest water content was in sample T2 at 43.95%, the highest ash content was in sample T3 at 1.15%, and the highest carbohydrate content was in sample T0 at 53.44%.

Abstract

ABSTRAKKulit pisang pada umumnya tidak banyak dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat dan menjadi limbah. Kulit pisang memiliki kandungan metabolit sekunder yang berpotensi sebagai antioksidan. Penggunaan bagian terluar pisang sebagai tepung diharapkan bisa menjadi pengganti dalam bahan dasar makanan dan mengurangi limbah di lingkungan. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan mengukur kadar antioksidan dan jenis kelompok senyawa metabolit sekunder dalam ekstrak ethanol tepung kulit pisang. Jenis pisang yang digunakan antara lain Muli (Musa acuminate), Pisang Tanduk (Musa paradisiaca), dan Pisang Kepok (Musa acuminate var. balbisiana). Maserasi dengan pelarut ethanol dipilih sebagai salah satu metode ekstraksi. Kadar antioksidan diuji dengan metode DPPH. Penentuan golongan senyawa dilakukan dengan skrining fitokimia. Kandungan antioksidan dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis probit untuk dihitung nilai IC50. Golongan senyawa antioksidan dianalisis secara deskriptif. Data penelitian menghasilkan bahwa kadar antioksidan ekstrak ethanol tepung kulit pisang kepok yaitu 9,35 ppm (sangat kuat), tepung kulit pisang tanduk yaitu 48.49 ppm (sangat kuat) dan tepung kulit pisang muli sebesar 62,31 ppm (kuat). Golongan senyawa yang teridentifikasi pada ketiga tepung kulit pisang diantaranya alkaloid, flavonoid, tanin, saponin, steroid dan terpenoid. Kata Kunci: Antioksidan, Kelompok Senyawa, Kulit Pisang, Tepung  ABSTRACT Banana peel is generally not utilized by the public and becomes waste. Banana peel has secondary metabolite content that has the potential to be an antioxidant. Using the outermost part of banana as flour is expected to be a replacement in food ingredients and reduce waste in the environment. This study aims to measure the antioxidant level and type of secondary metabolite compound group in ethanol extract of banana peel flour. The types of banana used include Muli (Musa acuminate), Tanduk Banana (Musa paradisiaca), and Kepok Banana (Musa acuminate var. balbisiana). Maceration with ethanol solvent is chosen as one of the extraction methods. The antioxidant level is tested using the DPPH method. Determination of compound group is done by phytochemical screening. The antioxidant content was analyzed using probit analysis to calculate the IC50 value. The antioxidant compound group was analyzed descriptively. The research data showed that the antioxidant level of kepok banana peel flour ethanol extract was 9.35 ppm (very strong), tanduk banana peel flour was 48.49 ppm (very strong), and muli banana peel flour was 62.31 ppm (strong). The compound groups identified in the three banana peel flours were alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, steroids, and terpenoids. Keywords: Antioxidant, Banana Peel, Compound Group, Flour

Abstract

Alcohol is an organic compound that contains a hydroxyl functional group and is often consumed in the form of drinks by some people. Alcoholic beverages cause many health problems, one of which is liver damage. The bidara plant is one of the herbal plants that can cure various diseases because there are compounds, one of which is phenolics. The problem that arises now is what is the effect of Bidara Leaf Extract (Ziziphus mauritinia) on the Histopathology of the Liver of Mice (Mus musculus) treated with alcohol? The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Bidara Leaf Extract (Ziziphus mauritnia) on the Histopathology of the Liver of Mice (Mus musculus) treated with alcohol. The research method used in this research is experimental post-test only group design research with a completely randomized design (CRD) with data collection techniques in the form of observation and documentation as well as data analysis techniques are continued normality test and homogeneity test followed by One test. Way ANOVA. This study used a dose of 70% alcohol with 1 ml/day and Bidara Leaf Extract 100 mg/kg BW, 150 mg/kg BW and 200 mg/kg BW with a dose of 0.5 ml/day/head for 14 days. Based on the results of research that has been carried out, there is an effect of Bidara Leaf Extract (Ziziphus maurinitia) on the Histopathology of the Liver of Mice (Mus musculus) given alcohol. This can be seen from the damage caused by alcohol, namely inflammation, necrosis and congestion, which improved when the Bidara Leaf Extract (Ziziphus mauritnia) was given. This means that the research that has been done can answer all the problem formulations that have been Determined. AbstrakAlkohol merupakan senyawa organik yang mengandung gugus fungsi hidroksil dan sering dikonsumsi dalam bentuk minuman oleh sebagian orang. Minuman beralkohol menimbulkan banyak masalah kesehatan, salah satunya adalah kerusakan hati. Tanaman bidara merupakan salah satu tanaman herbal yang dapat menyembuhkan berbagai penyakit karena mengandung senyawa salah satunya adalah fenolat. Permasalahan yang muncul sekarang adalah bagaimana pengaruh Ekstrak Daun Bidara (Ziziphus mauritinia) terhadap Histopatologi Hati Mencit (Mus musculus) yang diberi alkohol? Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh Ekstrak Daun Bidara (Ziziphus mauritnia) terhadap Histopatologi Hati Mencit (Mus musculus) yang diberi alkohol. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah eksperimen post-test only group design research dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi dan dokumentasi serta teknik analisis data yaitu uji normalitas lanjutan dan uji homogenitas dilanjutkan dengan Satu tes. Cara ANOVA. Penelitian ini menggunakan alkohol 70% dosis 1 ml/hari dan Ekstrak Daun Bidara 100 mg/kg BB, 150 mg/kg BB dan 200 mg/kg BB dengan dosis 0,5 ml/hari/ekor selama 14 hari. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan, terdapat pengaruh Ekstrak Daun Bidara (Ziziphus maurinitia) terhadap Histopatologi Hati Mencit (Mus musculus) yang diberi alkohol. Hal ini terlihat dari kerusakan akibat alkohol yaitu inflamasi, nekrosis dan kongesti yang membaik saat diberikan Ekstrak Daun Bidara (Ziziphus mauritnia). Artinya penelitian yang telah dilakukan dapat menjawab semua rumusan masalah yang telah ditentukan.
