Abstract

The research on structure community of mangrove in East Moro Village District of Karimun in Riau Islands has been done in June 2014. The purpose of study was to determine the species composition and dominant species in the mangrove ecosystem of East Moro Village. The method used in the research was survey method. The stations were determined by purposive sampling in three stations. The transects were set along the 50 meters from the sea to land perpendicular coastline. The number of plots was 27 for each plot with the size of 10 x 10 m2 for tree criteria, sub-plots of 5 x 5 m2 for sapling criteria, and 2 x 2 m2 for seedlings criteria. The results of this study founded 12 species of mangrove in East Moro Village District of Karimun Riau Islands. The vegetation was dominated by species of R.apiculata with critical values ranged 125.46 to 72.29 % . The conditions of mangrove vegetation in East Moro Village was still at good condition, with the average density ranged from 3066.67 to 2922.22 Ind /ha.Keywords: East Moro village, Structure Community, Mangrove

Abstract

The study was held in June-July 2014 in the east Moro Village coast. The method used was a survey method, where the data was obtained directly from the field. Observations on mangrove vegetation was done through transect line method and sample plots. The results indicated that the zoning of mangrove in Moro was complete. The study showed the existence of mangrove vegetation types from 15 species and 10 families. Mangrove vegetation comprised of R. apiculata, R. mucronata, R. stylosa, Avicennia lanata, Bruguiera gymnorhiza, Ceriops tagal, C. decandra, Sonneratia alba, Xylocarpus granatum, Lumnitzera littorea, Scyphiphora hydrophyllacea, Pandanus tectorius, Nypa fruticans, Scaevola taccada and Acrostichum speciosum. Parameter that observed from each zone is the shape of mangrove forest substrat, mangrove vegetation types and trees community. The density and zonation at each station were divided into three zones: front zone, middle zone and the rear zone, starting from the outermost point of mangrove species growth to the point of transition between sea and land. It was found that the most dominant mangrove was Rhizophora apiculata. Keywords: Mangrove, Zonation, Rhizopora apiculata, Moro

Abstract

This research was conducted in August to October 2015 in the mangrove area of Dumai city of Riau Province with the aim to determine the structure of zooplankton community in form of genera and differences in the abudance of among research stations. The zooplakton sample were collected in the field and identified in the Marine Biological Laboratory of Marine Science Department, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, University of Riau. The results showed that the zooplankton recorded consited of 8 genera i. e., Monhystera, Chromadora, Capitella, Lepadella, Monostyla, Dinizia, Mysis and Litonotus. Zooplankton average value was the highest with 936,5 ind/l and the lowest 416 ind/l. The values of diversity index (H’), dominance (D) and diversity (E) indicated that the condition of coastal waters of mangrove area of Dumai city experienced a moderate level of pollution, there was zooplankton dominance, uniformity in unbalanced so that evently not spread. Based on the calculation of the the abundance of zooplankton Anova test did not differ significantly between stations.Keyword: Coastal Waters, Dumai, Community Structure, Zooplankton

Abstract

Abstract This research was conducted in January 2018 in Rupat Water of Bengkalis Regency of Riau Province. The purpose of this research is to know the relationship between nitrate, phosphate and silicates with abundance of diatom in Rupat waters of North and South in Rupat waters. The research method is purposive sampling method with 2 area and divided into 8 point station. The results showed that the concentration of Nitrate, Phosphate and Silicate that is; 0,154 mg/L ; 2,342 mg/L; 0,023 mg/L. Diatom species were found 15 species that is; Asterionella sp, Bacillaria sp, Biddulphia sp, Cerataulina sp, Chaetoceros sp, Ditylum sp, Eucampia sp, Fragilariopsis sp, Guinardia sp, Microspora sp, Minidiscus chilensis, Navicula sp, Rhabdonema sp, Thalassionema sp, Thalassiosira sp. Abundance of diatoms in region 1 and region 2 of 452,159 Ind/L; 503.181 Ind/L.The result of regression test showed that the relationship of nitrate concentration with diatom abundance has a moderate correlation, so that in Rupat waters, the concentration of nitrate, phosphate and silicate belong to oligotrophic waters (less fertile).  Key Words : Nitrate, Phospate, Silicate, Abundance Diatoms

Abstract

A study of mangrove forest at Tanjung Sum Village, Kuala Kampar District was conducted in January 2016. The aim of this study was to determine the spescies composition, dominant species and conditions of mangrove vegetation. The survey method was used in this research, where the observations were made with the line transect method. The results showed the mangrove ecosystem had 11 species of mangrove, consisting of 8 families. These species were Avicennia. alba, A. marina, Nypa fructicans, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Rizophora apiculata, R. stylosa, Lumnutzera littorea, Xylocarpus granatum, Sonneratia alba, Thespenia populnea and Acrostichum sp. The importance value was highest on the group tree of A. alba (i.e.137.69%, at Station 1), the highest importance values was at station 2 (207.69%) and station 3 (113.06%). In the group of seedling the highest INP was recorded on T. populnea (137.59%) at station 1, at station 2 on T. populnea with INP 165%, and the highest INP at station 3, R. stylosa was 193.04%.The conditions of mangrove ecosystem at all stations can be categorized in a good condition with very good criteria.

Abstract

This research was conducted in June 2015 in the coastal waters of Dumai RiauProvince. This study observed the variety, abundance and community structure ofepilithic diatoms contained in coastal waters and to inform about the ecology of aquaticenvironment. The epilithic diatoms sample were collected in the field and identified inthe Marine Biological Laboratory of Marine Science Department, Faculty of Fisheriesand Marine Sciences, University of Riau. The number of genus recorded were 8 genera, namely Cymatopleura, Dactyliosolen, Leptocylindrus, Nitzschia, Rhabdonema,Rhizosolenia, Thallassiothrix and Triceratium. Epilithic diatoms genus found in eachstation was Rhabdonema. The genus can be bound or attached to rocks because it has acosmopolitan nature in which not susceptible to flow. The values of diversity index (H'), dominance (D) and diversity (E) indicated that the condition of coastal waters Dumaiunder pressure and moderate pollution levels, no diatoms dominated, uniformitybalanced and no competition of food and places. Based on the calculation of theabundance of diatom ANOVA test did not differ significantly between stations. Keywords: coastal waters, Dumai, diatoms, epilithic

Abstract

AbtrakThis research was conducted in May 2018 in the Mangrove Ecosystems at industrial and non-industrial areas of Sungai Sembilan District, Dumai City, which aimed to determine the morphometrics  and the lenght-weight relationship of C. cingulata and L. Melanostoma.Survey method was appled by using line transect at 2 stations, namely in the industrial area (PT. Ivo mas, PT. Sinar Mas, PT. Energi Sejahtera Mas) and non industrial area (Sungai Teras). The results showed that the morphometrics of C.cingulata and L. melanostoma at each station had different sizes. In industrial area,C. cingulatahas larger and wider than larger of size non industrial zone. On the other hand in the non industrial area,L. melanostomahas larger and wider than larger  of size industrial zone. The relationship between length and weight of C.cingulata infor industri at area is negative allometric, but  it was positive allometric for non industrial zone. Meanwhile the length and weight of L.melanostoma in both areas are negative allometric and they have strong correlation values (r= 0,99 dan 1). Keywords: Morphometrics, Cerithidea cingulata, Littoraria melanostoma, Dumai
