Abstract

Formal environmental education can be obtained at the school, because the school which isinvestment values about the environment in order to enhance students´ awareness of theenvironment. This needs to be inculcated in the students because they are the youngergeneration as a determinant of the future of the nation. Formulation of the problem in thisstudy is (1) whether there is a relationship between parental employment and livingenvironment with concern for the living environment (2) Which factor is most associatedwith concern of Students Cendana Junior High School Pekanbaru to school environmentbased on parental employment and living environment.Concern for the environment isinfluenced by various aspects such as knowledge, attitudes and responsibilities. Researchwas conducted in Pekanbaru Cendana Junior high school through survey methods, arequired primary data were obtained from leaners by questionnaire and secondary datahave been available at the school. Data analysis used chi-square tests and multipleregression analysis with helping of SPSS program.The results confirm that the studentscaring view of working parents whether they are CPI and non-CPI. Their parents who arenot CPI employees care more than CPI employees . While the students caring view ofliving environment in the complex and the outside of the CPI complex, the students who liveoutside of the CPI complex are more concerned than they live in the CPI complex. Comparethe children of CPI employees who live in complex and outside the complex, the children ofCPI employees who live outside the complex more concerned than they live in the complex.Then from the three variables that concern affecting are knowledge, attitude andresponsibility, the more dominant influence learners concern is the aspect of knowledge.

Abstract

The amount of solid waste at station 1 to station more than 2 type of solid waste in the Black Water Strait of each station is almost the same, where the Black Water Strait is dominated by the type of waste plastic and small pieces of wood. In Black Water Strait encountered type of waste that generally consist of plastics, paper, rubber, foam, jute sacks, leaves, and small pieces of wood. From this we can conclude that the solid waste at both stations originate from the same source ie domestic waste. The strong tidal currents provide a direct influence on the amount of solid waste that are found in every point of the study and vice versa if the lower the pressure, the current is the entry-level waste into gear tends to be decreased.Keywords : Comparative Study, Solid Waste, Selat Air Hitam, Meranti Island

Abstract

The research aims to assess the environmental condition of the Kampar River waters based on the species and abundance of epiphytic diatoms, to know the species of epiphytic diatoms seen from water quality condition of Kampar River water sand to determine the dominant species of epiphytic diatoms. The research was conducted on February to March 2013 inthe Kampar River village of Buluh Cina. The method used was a survey method. Analysis and identification at laboratory of Aquatic Ecology Management of Waters Environment, Water Resource Management Department, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences University of Riau.The results of research were obtained the species and abundance of epiphytic diatoms as many as6 generas with to talabundance (cell/cm26870), of the value of diversity index (H) ranged (0.9312 to 1.8292), the value ofthe diversity index(E) ranged (from 0.1411 to 0.3328), and the dominance index (C) ranged (0.2868 to 0.6797). The results of measurements of water quality parameters of physics and chemistry in the waters of Kampar River Village of Buluh Cina: the temperature ranged from 28 to 310C, the brightness ranged from 40 to 106 cm, turbidity ranged from 5 to 17 NTU, flow velocity ranged from 3.5 to 12 cm/sec, dissolved oxygen ranged from 6 to 6.8 mg/l, pH ranged from 5.32 to 7.8, nitrate ranged from 0.06 to 0.08 mg/l, phosphate ranged from 0.01 to 0.07 mg/l. In general, waters quality condition of Kampar River Villageof Buluh Cina is still in good condition and support for living organisms, especially epiphytic diatoms. Species of epiphytic diatoms that dominate the waters of Kampar River is Nitzchia sp.Keywords: Epiphytic Diatoms, Tolerance Limits, Kampar River.

Abstract

The study was conducted in Mempura region, Siak regency for 5 month, from July to November 2012. The aims of this study are: 1) to definite potential value of nature in Mempura region Siakregency; 2) to identify strength, weakness, opportunity and threat of Mempura region according to criteria of ecotourism, and 3) to define strategies for developing ecotourism in Mempura region. Descriptif methode is used in this study with SWOT analysis to take for certain development strategies of ecotourism based on area potencies result.Result of this study showed that: Mempura region has a great potentials for the development of ecotourism. It main source of attractions was the panorama/view of river, forest and durian garden. In addition, historical site and traditional culture activities provided additional attractions, as well as flora and fauna that varied in the region.Management strategies priority for ecotourism in the regionare : 1)increasing service and ease, 2)empowering regional planning aspect for ecotourism, 3)improvinghuman resources andecotourismfacility, 4) Involving local awareness andinisiative, 5)increasing promotion of ecoturism in Mempura region, 6) increasing monitoring activity in conservation of nature and local culture, and 7), involving management of ecotourism in Mempura region.Key word: Siak Regency, Mempura region, Ecotourism, Development strategy

Abstract

This research was conducted in March 2015 to find out the structure of  diatom community and the distribution of abundance planktonic diatom in coastal around Dumai City. The survey method was applied in four stations with different characteristics, each stasiun consisted three sampling strata. The total of diatomwere 10 genera namely:Eucampia, Leptocylindrus, Guinardia, Rhizosolenia, Melosira, Coscinodiscus, Thalassiothrix, Rhabdonema, Nizschia, and Bacillaria. The most genera that commonly found was Rhizosoleniabecause yhis genera was being able to compete better than other genera. Base on the formulation of diversity index (H'), dominance index (D), and equability index (E), explained that the structure of diatomplanktonic community in all stations were in a state of balance. It  means there was not competition both places and food. The result of ANOVA test gained that the distribution of the diatom abundance was not significantly different among stations.   Key Words: abundance, diatom planktonic, Dumai

Abstract

This research was conducted in Februari 2015 and was located at DarulAman waters. Samples were analyzed in the Biology Laboratory of Marine Science Department of Fisheries and Marine Science Faculty of Riau University. The aim of this study was to observe the phytoplankton communities. This research used survey method. The study found 25 species of phytoplankton, Compriting ofwere 16 species from Bacillariophyceae, 7 species from Dinophyceae, and 2 species from Cyanophyceae. Phytoplankton dominatingthe population was from group of Bacillariophyceae (Diatoms) 61%. The other groups comprising of Dinophyceae 29%, and Cyanophyceae 10%. Phytoplankton abundance varied from 266-339 ind/l, the higest value was in station 1 and the lowest value was in station 2. Phytoplankton community was dominated by the group of diatoms, such as Nitzschia sigma, Synnedra ulna, and Thallasiothrix delicatula.Keywords: Marine Phytoplankton, Bacillariophyceae, Marine of Riau

Abstract

This research was conducted in October 2016 until January 2017 by using survey method. The purpose of this research was to determine the water quality, the structure of phytoplankton community and the relationship between the water quality with the abundance of phytoplankton in Sungaitohor Estuary Kepulauan Meranti District, Riau Province. Identification and analysis of phytoplankton was conducted at Marine Biology Laboratory Faculty of Fisheries and Marine University of Riau. The correlation regression analysis showed that the relationship between pH and phytoplankton abundance were very low, meanwhile correlation regression analysis between salinity and phytoplankton abundance was fair. The abundance of phytoplankton ranged between 25 - 75 ind/l, diversity index (H ') ranged from 0,81 – 1,89 (medium category), uniformity index (E) ranged from 0,12 – 0,30 (low category) and dominance index (C) ranged from 0,29 – 0,67 (medium category). The identification found 11 genera of phytoplankton i.e. : Leptocylindrus, Protoperidinium, Trichodesmium, Isthmia, Gonyaulax, Nitzschia, Cestum, Skeletonema, Thalassiosira, Stephanopyxis and Streptotheca. Abstract

ABSTRACTThe research was conducted in January 2018 on mangrove ecosystem in coastal area of Anak Setatah Rangsang Barat Meranti archipelago district Riau Province. The purpose of this study was to estimated carbon reserved (mangrove carbon and soil organic carbon) in mangrove ecosystem on certain unit area. The method used in this research is survey method and analysis using allometric equation method to calculate how big biomass and mangrove carbon reserved in mangrove ecosystem. The results of this study that average mangrove carbon and soil organic carbon produced from each station per hectare was  583,32 ton/ha and 1546,81 ton/ha and CO2 absorption was 2138,85 ton/ha.Keyword : Mangrove, Carbon, Anak Setatah

Abstract

                                   ABSTRACTMacrozoobenthos are benthos animals that live in the bottom as well as the surface substrate. One of themacrozoobenthospreferred habitat is mangrovearea. Macrozoobenthos community structure is influenced by environmental changes. This research was conducted on January 2018 in Rangsang Island Meranti Islands Regency that aims to find out the community structure of macrozoobenthos included species, abundance, diversity, uniformity, dominance, sediment organic matters, and environmental parameters in mangrove area of Rangsang Island Meranti Islands Regency. The method sampling used line transect in 3 stations. Macrozoobenthos that found in this research are 12 species with 1.88 – 8.55 ind m-2. The value of diversity index (H’) is 0.18 - 2.80, dominance index (C) with ranged 0.27 - 2.21, and uniformity index (E) with ranged 0.47 - 2.80. The content of sediment organic mattersranged 6.21 - 15.69% for each station. Keywords:Macrozoobenthos, Community Structure, Sediment OrganicMatters

Abstract

ABSTRACTEpilithicdiatom are one of the diatom that can withstand waves and currents, attached to hard substrates or rocks. This research was conducted from March 2018 - April 2018 located in Buo Bay Area, Padang,West Sumatra. Thegoal of this research are to determine the water quality and the structure community of epilithic diatom in Buo Bay Area, Padang, West Sumatra. The survey method was appllied in this research, sampling location were set up purposively which divided into 3 stations. Water quality measurements are carried in each station which consists of physical parameters specifically temperature, current velocity, brightness and chemical parameters consists of salinity, dissolved oxygen, acidity. Based on water quality measurement at buo baycan support the growth of epilithic diatom organism. The result showed that there were 15 genus of epilithic diatom in buo bay padang. The highest average abundance of epilithic diatoms is in station 2 was 3340.22 individual/cm2 and lowest section  is in station 3 with the average of abundance value was 2741.97 individual/cm2. Key Word: Water Quality, Community Structure, Abundance, Epilitic Diatom
