Abstract

Abstract

Essential issue in the study of the metaphysics of symbol is based on two main questions: (1) is a symbol immanent in human (and limitedly rooted in the human spirit) or symbol is also rooted to the transcendent (which address the human and his life)?; and (2) is a symbol just has horizontal dimension or vertical dimension as well? The creation of keris is a mixture of desires, hopes, goals, and desired benefits from the buyer if the dagger with a sense, initiative and creativity embodied in the master symbols at luk, dhapur, and pamor. The master in the making process, entered the dimensions of the symbols commonly applicable in the Javanese community. Javanese keris analyzed from the point of the symbol, can be concluded that the symbol visible at the class of ordinary Javanese (the public) is more vertical-transcendental, and the special group (the intellectuals) Javanese symbol doubles the vertical dimension-transcendental, as well as horizontal-immanent, while the new class (the keris is considered as art), Javanese symbolism over the horizontal dimension-immanent.

Abstract

Puppet has developments and changes over time. Puppet continues to grow and develop in accordance with the development of the dominant civilization that accompanies it. A change in the function of puppet strikingly occurs in Islam and pre-Islamic era. Puppet that previously acted as a form of religious ritual to worship the ancestors and the ‘Dewa’ has been changes in function to serve as a media for the sake of religion propaganda and education. There was also a change on the ontological view in puppet. The changes occur due to difference concept of Deity’s thought in Islam and Hinduism. The Islam belief that does not recognize the concept ‘dewa’, it is not eliminating the existence of ‘dewa’ in various puppet stories, but instead desecrated it. ‘Dewa’ no longer considered sacred, perfect and unbeatable, but the god is considered common creatures that could also be defeated and make mistakes.

Abstract

This study considers an operational decision in the maritime inventory routing problem considering the maintenance schedules of the ships. The problem is to determine the exact number of ships serving to distribute bulk cement product. The problem is complex due to the uncertainties in demand, travel time, loading time, and unloading in each port so that exact optimization methods or mathematical formulations are difficult to do. Therefore, discrete-event simulation method is proposed to solve the problem. In determining the number of vessels to note the external factors that affect the performance of the ship in distributing. One of the activities undertaken to maintain the condition of the ship is maintenance. With the maintenance activities there is a possibility of increasing the number of boats to distribute bulk cement to avoid shortage. The results show that simulation module built can be used to determine the number of vessels and their capacity to determine the optimal number of ships to avoid shortage. From the research work also obtained the effect of maintenance activities in determining the optimal number of vessels. With the arrangement of maintenance schedules made at the time of cement demand is down then the number of ships with a capacity of 3,200-4,500 does not require any additional fleet. But for vessels with a capacity above 4,500 it is necessary to add one fleet of vessels to avoid shortage in unloading portsKeywords: Bulk Cement Product, Maritime Transportation, Disruption of Maintenance, and Discrete Simulation.

Abstract

Manufacturing technology becomes more complex as customer demand increases. Most manufacturing companies consist of multi-state manufacturing networks. Therefore, the reliability and availability parameters become an important issue to satisfy customer demand. Unavailability can result in reducing throughput because of decreasing operational production time. To resolve this problem, the buffer inventory can minimize the occurrence of material starving and production blocking during the equipment downtime. This paper will focus on experimenting with buffer inventory levels and the capacity of a multi-state manufacturing network to increase the production throughput on a company that has 70,000 tons per year of capacity. However, due to the unavailability problem, the existing system capacity decreases to 62,175 tons per year. The simulation model is used to improve throughput by modeling the failure interruption and the buffer inventory logics during the production process.

Abstract

In this research, Worker Performance Appraisal System has been conducted in the Public Worker Council Probolinggo. This research especially conducted in the Sub Public Worker for Low Level Workers, i.e. Contract Workers. So far incentive in this institution was not given based on their performance, but based on the community agreement. Therefore, the worker performance appraisal system was designed based on the competency, namely the Spencer competency. For that purpose the Spencer appraisal Dimension has been integrated to DP3 (Daftar Penilaian Pelaksanaan Pekerjaan) and to the Competencies for the Executive Leadership Development. The results on those criterias were processed using the Expert Choice Software. The weight for the managerial skill is 0.200 and for the technical one is 0.800. Type of managerial skill is indicated by the competency criteria, i.e, discipline, serving, achievement, proactive and commitment to organization. The weights of each criterion are 0.318, 0.289, 0.151, 0.140, 0.102, respectively. On the other hand, Technical skills indicated by competency criteria are leadership and cooperation. Their weights are 0.500, 0.500, respectively. It can be concluded that, the accurate incentive system is an insentive system, based on profit share. This share is given according to the performance appraisal of each worker. Abstract

Crew scheduling is one of most important operational problems in airline industries. Crew scheduling Problem consists of two steps that is "Crew Pairing" and "Crew Rostering". The research focusses on building Boeing 737-200's monthly pilot rostering of PT. X Airlines based on given pilot pairings. There are some vertical and horizontal regulations must be fulfilled in so that the problem becomes very complex and cannot be solved using a pure exact method in reasonable computational time. Accordingly, we propose a decomposition exact method to solve the problem. Our model was run using LINGO Optimization software. Experiment results showed that our schedules are outperform than the existing schedules of the airline for the case of May 2006. Abstract

This research introduces the development of Hybrid Scatter Search Heuristic for solving cockpit crew (pilot and co-pilot) rostering problem. This research aims to minimize the deviation of flight hours among the cockpit crew of an airline, Garuda Indonesia Airline, during the one-month planning horizon. The weakness of the existing algorithm used in the airline, which is a trial-and-error algorithm, is that the variation among crew flight times for one month is too significant and the scheduling process takes a quite long time. We tested the performance of our proposed algorithm to that of the existing algorithm. The numerical experiments showed that the proposed algorithm had outperformed the existing algorithm. More specifically, we found some in sensitivity analysis experiments. Our experiment results showed that that the higher the flight time target, the higher the total deviation of flight time. We also conducted several experiments to show the robustness of our proposed algorithm. First, we tested the relationship between the number of pilots who can use their preferences and the total deviation of flight time. We conducted experiments by giving the cockpit crew the opportunity to choose a day off. Finally, we analyzed the results by changing the number of cockpit crew.

Abstract

This research discusses the maintenance problem of a small commercial aircraft with propeller engine, typed ATR-72. Based on the maintenance records, the aircraft has average 294 routine activities that have to be monitored and done based on determined threshold interval. This research focuses on developing a metaheuristic model to optimize the aircraft?s utility, called Crow Search Algorithm (CSA) to solve the Aircraft Maintenance Problem (AMP). The algorithm is developed and tested  whether a younger metaheuristic method, CSA, is able to give better performance compared to the older methods, Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and other hybridized method PSO with Greedy Randomized Adaptive Search Optimization (PSO-GRASP). Several experiments are performed by using parameters: 1000 maximum iteration and 600 maximum computation time by using four dataset combinations. The results show that CSA can give better performance than PSO but worse than PSO-GRASP.

Abstract

The gas central processing plant as a facility used to process natural gas had a variety of components that were so complex and many in number. To reduce the risk of failure of these components it was necessary to carry out maintenance. But it would be very inefficient if all the components were treated at the same level, considering that there were so many and the human resources that were owned were very limited. Therefore, in taking care of these components it was necessary to prioritize them according to their critical level. In this research, in determining the critical level of a component using risk-based methods according to the available standards, namely NORSOK Z-008. By making a hierarchy and asset level register of all components, then the value of the probability rating and consequence rating was determined. So that the criticality ranking of each component was obtained according to the criticality risk matrix that was converted from the company's risk matrix, so that the critical level of the component was obtained in the levels of H (high), M (medium), and L (low). With the critical level of this component, the company did not need to take care of all the components. In this research, there was 33 equipment with 140 subunits/subsystems, and the total number of components was 674. Of the 674 components as many as 28 components had a critical level of H (high), 192 components had a critical level M (medium), and 454 components had L critical level (low) of each critical level that has been obtained, it is not necessary to carry out maintenance with the same level to all components. In this research, every component that has H (high) criticality level will be treated as a Preventive Maintenance, while a component with a critical level of M (medium) will be Preventive Maintenance if needed, and a component with L critical level (low) will be treated Corrective Maintenance.
