Abstract

A molecularly imprinted polymers (MIP) can be synthesized using functional monomers and template molecules through polymerization with the aid of cross linker. In previous studies, MIP_TFMAA-co-EGDMA was synthesized using the main ingredient tryfluoromethylacrylic acid (TFMAA) as functional monomer, b-sitosterol as a template molecule and ethyleneglycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) as cross linker. The ability of adsorption against the effects of pH and contact Time of MIP has been evaluated. Variations of pH standard solution b-sitosterol were 4, 5, 6, and 7, while the time variation used were 30, 60, 90, and 120 minutes. The data of b- sitosterol concentrations adsorbed by MIP_TFMAA-co-EGDMA because of the influence of pH and contact times were analyzed using high pressure liquid  chromatography (HPLC). pH5 gives the most influence on the adsorption capacity MIP_TFMAA-co-EGDMA against b-sitosterol. The number of b-sitosterol adsorbed on the pH was 1.0265 mg/g, while at 90 minutes was the best time for the MIP b- sitosterol adsorb as much as 1.3486 mg/g. Based on the adsorption kinetics study, the adsorption ability MIP_TFMAA-co-EGDMA against b-sitosterol in accordance with the pseudo second order kinetic model.

Abstract

Paliasa is one of tropical plants that used as an etnobotanical traditional drug by the people of South Sulawesi. Paliasa leaves is believed and used as a drug for hypertension, diabetes mellitus, cholesterol, and hepatitis diseases. Preliminary study was done by Brine shrimp lethality test with Artemia salina to a tissue part of one of type paliasa, Melocia umbellata (Houtt.) Stapf. var. degrabrata K. The result show that the wood of this plant is the most active with LC50 value of 1,80 ppm. Keywords : Paliasa, traditional drug, M. umbellata, bioactivity.

Abstract

 Artocarpus integer (Thunb.) Merr. (Cempedak) is a plant with a kind of Moraceae family that is widely cultivated in Luwu, South Sulawesi. Extraction and antibacterial bioactivity test of Artocarpus integer (Thunb.) Merr. Heartwood have been done. Preparation of heartwood conducted by shaved, dried, crushed and macerated with methanol to obtain a crude extract of methanol. The methanol extract then partitioned successively in n-hexane, chloroform and ethyl acetate to obtain the fraction of n-hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate, and methanol. Antibacterial activity test using agar diffusion method on two types of gram-negative bacteria (E. coli and S. typhi) and two types of gram-positive bacteria (S. aureus and S. pneumonia) has been performed. The inhibition zone obtained on each fraction are the n-hexane fraction of 12.80 mm in the bacterium S. pneumonia, chloroform fractions of 13.80 mm in the bacterium S. pneumoniae, ethyl acetate fraction of 9.80 mm in bacteria    S. typhi, and the methanol fraction at 12.90 on S. pneumonia bacteria. The chloroform fraction has potential as antibacterial caused by the highest of inhibition ability toward S. pneumonia. Keywords: Antibacterial activity, Artocarpus integer (Thunb.) Ekstraksi dan uji bioaktivitas antibakteri kayu batang Artocarpus integer (Thunb.) Merr. telah dilakukan. Kayu batang diserut, dikeringkan, dihaluskan, dan dimaserasi dengan metanol hingga diperoleh ekstrak kasar metanol. Ekstrak metanol kemudian dipartisi berturut-turut dalam n-heksan, kloroform, dan etil asetat sehingga diperoleh fraksi n-heksan, kloroform, etil asetat, dan metanol. Uji aktivitas antibakteri dengan metode difusi agar menggunakan 2 bakteri gram negatif (E. coli dan S. typhi) dan 2 gram positif (S. aureus dan S. pneumonia). Zona hambat terbesar yang diperoleh masing-masing fraksi adalah fraksi n-heksan sebesar 12,80 mm pada bakteri S. pneumonia, fraksi kloroform sebesar 13,80 mm pada bakteri S. pneumonia, fraksi etil asetat sebesar 9,80 mm pada bakteri S. typhi, dan fraksi metanol sebesar 12,90 pada bakteri S. pneumonia. Fraksi kloroform berpotensi kuat sebagai antibakteri karena memiliki daya hambat terbesar terhadap S. pneumonia. Kata Kunci: Aktivitas Antibakteri, Artocarpus integer (Thunb.) Merr., Moraceae

Abstract

The 4-hydroxycinnamamide  is a compound  that has been isolated from the root bark of Kleinhovia hospita Linn. The compound show high toxicity to Artemia salina Leach (IC 180,53 µg) so it can be expected has cytostatic activity against P388 leukemic cells. However, the concentration of the compound in the root bark of K. hospita Linn is very low (about 1.6 ppm), and commercially the compound  is  not  ready  and  has  never  been  synthesized.  Therefore,  it  is  important  to  find  out  a synthesis method to used in prepare the compound for further examination, in particular its cytostatic activity. By this research, the 4-hydroxycinnamamide compound has been prepared from 4- hydroxycinnamic  acid  via  esterification  reaction  with  excess  ethanol  and  sulphate  acid  catalyst followed  ammonolysis  reaction  with concentrated  ammonia.  The esterification  stage  gave  ethyl 4-hidroxycinnamate   as  white  crystall  with  melting  point  133-134oC   and  34.9%  yield,  and  the ammonolysis stage gave 4-hydroxycinnamamide as white crystall with merting point 140oC and 46.1% yield. Identification of the reaction product was carried out by FTIR and NMR spectroscopy methods.Keywords: 4-hydroxycinnamamide, 4-hydroxycinnamic acid, esterification, ammonolysis

Abstract

Sulawesi Selatan termasuk salah satu sasaran produksi minyak nilam tertinggi secara nasional pada tahun 2018 selain Sulawesi Tengah, dan Sumatera Barat. Kabupaten Enrekang yang termasuk dalam wilayah Sulawesi Selatan telah membudidayakan pohon nilam dan juga memproduksi minyak nilam. Produksi minyak nilam tersebut belum mendapatkan hasil secara maksimal baik disegi rendemen maupun kualitas minyaknya dimana kandungan Patchouli Alkoholnya yang masih relatif rendah. Untuk mengatasi hal tersebut maka dilakukan kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat. Tujuan Pengabdian ini adalah untuk menjadikan masyarakat petani nilam dapat memroduksi minyak dengan kandungan Patchouli alcohol yang cukup tinggi (kualitas tinggi) dan rendemen yang tinggi pula. Hal ini dapat meningkatkan penghasilan dan sekaligus membantu dalam memenuhi sasaran produksi minyak nilam tertinggi secara nasional tahun 2018. Metode yang telah dilakukan adalah memberikan penyuluhan tentang cara persemaian, pengolahan tanah, penanaman dan pemeliharaan, serta pemanenan dan prapengolahannya. Untuk tahun pertama telah dilakukan penyuluhan dan pelatihan cara pembibitan yang sesuai dengan standard serta pengukuran kromatogram menggunakan Kromatografi Gas agar diketahui kandungan Patchouli alcohol pada minyak nilam yang dihasilkan. Hasil yang diperoleh dari kegiatan ini adalah masyarakat menjadi tahu cara budidaya tanaman nilam yang baik. Selain itu diketahui juga kandungan Patchouli alcohol dari minyak nilam hasil panen petani nilam sebesar 24,86 %. Setelah petani paham cara budidaya nilam, maka produksi minyak nilam khususnya di Kabupaten Enrekang akan meningkat kandungan Patchouli alkoholnya sampai mencapai target minimal 30% dan menjadi berkualitas ekspor.

Abstract

Some esters and amide derivatives of p-hydroxycinnamic acid have anticancer activity. However, the amide compound is more stable to metabolic reactions compared to its ester derivative. In this research, the synthesis of a new compound, namely N-(piperidinyl)caffeamide (M5) and its anticancer activity assay, has been conducted. The compound M5 was synthesized using p-hydroxycinnamic acid and piperidine as starting materials, and the activity assay was carried out against P388 Leukemia Murine Cells by the MTT method. By these methods, the compound M5 was obtained a yellowish crystalline with a melting point of 212-214°C, and it was very active as an anticancer with an IC50 value of 0.861 μg/mL. This compound was more active than the analog compounds previously synthesized.

Abstract

This study used S. polycystum and T. deccurens were extracted with various solvents (n-hexane, ethyl acetate and ethanol) to determine phytochemical screening and antioxidant activities. Extraction of samples by maceration method, antioxidant activity assay using the immersion method of DPPH (1,1-Diphenyl-2-picryl Hidrazil) measured absorption at a wavelength of 515 nm and compared with the control of antioxidant vitamin C. The results showed that antioxidant activity of the methanol, ethyl acetate, n-hexane extract of S. polycystum have low antioxidant activity with the value IC50 340,06, 180,54, and 502,25 mg/mL. Methanol, ethyl acetate, n-hexane extracts of  T. deccurens have low antioxidant activity with value IC50 491,02, 411,80, and 502,7 mg/mL. This potential is lower than vitamin C IC50 value of 1,72 mg/mL.

Abstract

Abstract. Explorations of secunder metabolic, especially non active fraction of Clathria reinwardtii, of spons from South Sulawesi have been done. Bioactivity test against Artemia salina was carried out with Brine Shrimp Lethality Test method. Separation techniques contain of extraction, fractionation, and purification. Qualitative tests and structure elucidation on the compound obtained was based on the physical and spectroscopic data UV, IR and NMR. Two compounds which are isolated from Clathria reinwardtii are suggested as fenolic compound and steroid group i.e. β-sitosterol.Keywords : β-sitosterol, Artemia salina Leach, Clathria reinwardtii, fenolic.
