Abstract

       It has been widely known that the Cirata reservoir has beenheavily polluted by waste from aquaculture and Industry. Thisresearch was conducted to determine the spread of organic matterin the waters of the Cirata reservoir       The result revealed that Cirata reservoir has heavily pollutedby organic waste, so since the year 1997 has become a hypertrophicwaters, and until the year 2003 the situation has not changed. If thepollutant load is not also decrease the Cirata reservoir feared wouldturn into "a the biggest cesspool in the world. that will create variousnegative impacts, like the mass death of fish culture whichsometimes have occurred in Cirata reservoir.       Organic matter (pollutant) in dam Cirata water bodiesdominated by dissolved organic matter with a range between 68,2-84,2 percent. Organic matter in the inlet water (derived from B.Saguling) tend to be greater than in the water at the outlet so thatimplied that some organic matter carried in water S. Citarum weresedimentated and decomposed in Cirata reservoir.       Fraction of life particle organic matter in total organic matterin the water in the Cirata reservoir and outlets tend to be larger thanthe water in the inlet which entering water from Saguling reservoir.

Abstract

This research was conducted to known water quality and phytoplankton dynamics in the coastal of Harapan island. The research reveal that during the period of research the coastal water of Harapan island was an olygotrophic withphytoplankton density about 654,7-1.745 cells/ml. The phytoplankton community in November was dominated by Thalassionema sp. (303.64 cells/ml); in 10 December was by Pseudonitzchia sp (117,7 cells/ml); in 7 January was byChaetoceros sp (218 cells/ml), in 28 January was by Trichodesmium sp; (727,3cells/ml) and in 22 April was by Chaetoceros sp. (775.8 cells/ml). It have to payattention to the dominating phytoplankton community by Pseudonitzchia sp andTrichodesmium sp due to their bloom will create negative impact to otherorganisms and ecosystem stability.

Abstract

Sumberdaya lingkungan perairan daerah aliran sungai (SDLP-DAS) Citarum yang telah banyak memberikan manfaat dan berperan dalam pembangunan telah rusak dan tercemar sangat berat oleh sedimen dan berbagai limbah; baik limbah cair maupun padat yang langsung ataupun tidak langsung dibuang oleh manusia kedalamnya. Oleh karena itu maka perlu dirumuskan sebuah strategi pengelolaan dan teknologi lingkungan yang dapat merehabilitasi/ memulihkan SDLP DAS Citarum sehingga perannya dapat berkelanjutan.Kristalisasi dari literatur dan diskusi fanel yang telah dilaksanakan untukmengidentifikasi jenis-jenis teknologi lingkungan yang dibutuhkan dalampengelolaan SDLP DAS Citaerum menyimpulkan bahwa pengelolaan sumberdaya lingkungan perairan daerah aliran sungai (SDLP-DAS) Citarum yang berkelanjutan dan berkeadilan untuk kesejahteraan masyarakat akan dapat terwujud jika dan hanya jika didukung oleh semua stakeholders, dengan melalui koordinasi aktif yang dilandasi rasa empati dan didukung dengan penerapan teknologi lingkungan dan teknologi ramah lingkungan.

Abstract

Telah diduga bahwa perairan waduk Cirata telah mengalami eutrofikasi karena tercemar oleh nutrien dari berbagai sumber seperti limbah pemukiman, industri, pertanian dan perikanan. Peneltian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui sampai sejauh mana eutrofikasi mempengaruhi dinamika kualitas fisik, kimia dan fitoplankton. Peneltian ini juga dilakukan untuk menganalisis kesahihan plankton-net dalam menghasilkan data untuk analisis kualitas air.Dengan kecerahan yang rendah (< 80cm), nilai nitrogen (>0,100mgN•l-1) dan fosfor (> 0,01 mgP• l-1) yang tinggi hingga setiap saat bisa terjadi blooming, maka waduk Cirata dapat digolongkan kedalam waduk hipereutrofik. Dengan didahului pengendapan dan sampling tanpa penyaringan, kelimpahan fitoplankton ditemukan lebih tinggi dari 20 x 103 sel•ml-1 yang didominasi oleh Mycrocytis (Cyanophyta) dan Sphaerocystis (chlorophyta). Kenyataan ini kembali meyakinkan bahwa data-data kepadatan/kelimpahan fitoplankton yang selama ini dipublikasikan adalah “under-estimate”. Untuk itu sangat disarankan agar untuk menduga kelimpahan fitoplankton dan analisis kualitas air tidak lagi menggunakan plankton-net; kecUali hanya untuk identifikasi.

Abstract

At this moment, Saguling reservoir in Citarum river is not only polluted by waste water from municipal, industry, agriculture and become eutrophicated. This research was carried out in attempt to know how bad is the eutrophication and effecting phytoplankton in Saguling river. This research reveal based on the measured physical, chemistry and biological parameters, Saguling reservoir could be classified into eutrophic with low transparency (<70 cm), high concentration of nitrogen (>1,100 mgN•l-1), phosphor (>0,216 mgP•l-I) and dominated by Mycrocytis and Ascilatoria. This result also approved the previous analysis that overflow of sampling plankton- net always resulting “underestimation” value. Therefore using row metter without filtering and settling methode in phytoplankton is suggested.

Abstract

In attempt to know the trophic status and phytoplankton community in Juandareservoir this research was conducted. This research revealed that based onsecchi disk and concentration of Chlorophyll-a the Juanda reservoir have become eutrophic, with phytoplankton density was about 27,779-43,439 x 10-3 cell/l. The phytoplankton community was dominated by Synedra sp. (22.4-33.8%) and Microcystis sp. (10.2 –31.4 %;). However this result was about 1000 x bigger than previous publication which reported the phytoplankton density in Juanda reservoir was only about 621- 35,514 cell/l, and the phytoplankton community was dominated by Microcystis sp. which always > 85%. These differences were suggested due to using net-plankton in the sampling of phytoplankton.

Abstract

Becouse of the shrimp price in international market was high, Indonesia which have a big potential swamp for develop shrimp pond (tambak) plan to increase the shrimp production. Lately, intensive shrimp culture always failed due to decomposition of organic waste in the bottom created oxygen depletion and produced gases (NH3 and H2S) which dangerous to water organisms.To avoid the fenomema farmer threw out the organic waste to coastal water which can develop euthrofication, blooming and water quality degradation. This paper conclude that increasing of the shrimp production using intensive culture will create many problem, due to the existing technology was not completed by technology which can eliminate the organic waste in the pond. This paper suggest that before the intensive technology was completed with “waste water treatment” or “biomanipulation technology” which can eliminate the organic waste in the pond, the increasing of shrimp production will better using extensive program with conventional or semiintensive technology. Without all it the negative impact of organic waste in coastal waters will bigger than positive impact of increasing the shrimp production.

Abstract

Kebutuhan Oksigen Biokimiawi (BOD) adalah salah satu parameter kualitas limbah yang banyak digunakan untuk memprakirakan kekuatan suatu limbah mencemari calon badan air penerimanya, bahkan sering digunakan untuk memprakirakan status pencemaran suatu badan air. Dengan demikian BOD mempunyai peranan yang sangat penting dalam usaha untuk mempertahankan daya guna suatu ba:dan air. Benarkah parameter BOD sehebat itu atau pantaskah uji BOD diperankan sebesar itu. Paper ini berusaha menguraikan dan mengkaji tentang kelebihan dankelemahan uji BOD, dan hasilnya mengisaratkan bahwa sebagai parameterkualitas limbah, BOD tidak banyak memiliki kelebihan dari parameter lainnyakecuali kepraktisan yang bisa menyesatkan. Oleh karena itu maka sebenarnya uji BOD belum dapat digunakan sebagai alat meneliti, namun justru masih harus dijadikan bahan penelitian; atau harus diteliti. Akhirnya untuk menentukan kekuatan limbah dilapangan penggunaan COD (kebutuhan oksigen kimiawi) lebih disarankan.

Abstract

Sei Baloi is a reservoir in the Batam Industrial Development Area (BIDA),which developed especially for source of drinking water. This research wasconducted to know the water quality of Sei Baloi, and the suitability for thesource of drinking water. This research revealed that the water of Sei Baloi cannot directly used for drinking water due to concentrations of detergent, Cr, Cdand Pb were higher than the national standard for drinking water. Base on thisresult, it was suggested that the water of Sei Baloi need threatment forderease the above parameters.

Abstract

Jangari is an area in Cirata reservoir that was developed for tourism area. Lately, in this area have been developed many cages for fish culture that produce organic waste in huge number. This research was conducted to know the status and dynamics of water quality in Jangari that receive organic waste in huge number.The research revealed that Jangari water body could be cited as an eutrophic water body. This conclusion was due to (i)-the concentrations of phosphorus was always higher than 0,016 mg•l-1P and nitrogen total was always higher than 0,711 mg•l-1N; (ii)-the density of fitoplankton in 25 cm depth was between 36.590•103 and 40.710•103 ind•l—1; whereas in 150 cm depth was between 29.620•103 and 36.370•103 ind•l—1. This phytoplankton community was dominated byCyanophyta (70,9%-78,2%), especially. Microcystis sp and Oscillatoria sp. (iii)-the vanishing point of secchi disc was always smaller than 71 cm. During the research zooplankton was dominated by copepoda, cladocera and rotifera with density fluctuate between 34-394 ind•l—1. The eutrophic status for Jangari, will threaten the sustainable potency for tourism area; and therefore it was suggested to built one management for Cirata reservoir which could be hoped to plan, do and evaluate the development of Cirataappropriate to the potencies and carryng capasity of reservoir.
