Abstract

Has done research on the utilization of straw jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus) as a raw material jackfruit yogurt. The study was conducted using 400 g straw jackfruit divided into 4 treatment groups of each 100 g. Each treatment group was added water with straw comparison with water 1:3, 1:4, 1:5, and 1:6 in order to obtain the concentration in the medium straw jackfruit 333, 250, 200, and 170 g / l. Furthermore, from each treatment group divided by 5 as replication. After fermentation for 72 hours with a temperature of 28-30 &ordm; C, analyzed the number of bacteria, nitrogen, carbon, glucose, viscosity and assessment of sensory characteristics (odor, taste and color) jackfruit yogurt straw. The results showed that the use of straw as a raw material jackfruit yogurt affect the amount of bacteria, nitrogen, carbon, glucose and viscosity but had no significant effect (P < 0.05) on sensory characteristics (odor, taste and color) yogurt. Abstract

Penicillium purpurogenum is known to be producing red pigment, pigment produced microbial activity, this research aims to demonstrate the activity of red pigment Penicillium purpurogenum antifungi against diameter and number of Fusarium oxysporum colonies, research done in the laboratory of Microbiology Adi Buana Surabaya University. This study used a randomized complete design (RAL) and Penicillium purpurogenum red pigment treatment concentrations of 0%, 0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5% and Ciprofloxacin 1.0%. Each treatment was repeated 4 (four) times, the research was carried out in vitro on medium PDA. The results showed that the red pigment resistance power P. purpurogenum 1.5% a significant effect (P < 0.05) against growth of fungi F. oxysporum and the number of colonies of fungis F. oxysporum compared red pigment resistance power P. purpurogenum 0% and 0.5%. growth of fungi F. oxysporum on PDA media containing pigment red P. purpurogenum 1.5% significant (P < 0.05) smaller than fungi growth F. oxysporum on PDA media containing pigment red P. purpurogenum 0% and 0.5%. Research results can be concluded that use of red pigment of P. purpurogenum can inhibit growth and the number of colonies of fungis F. oxysporum. Abstract

An experimental research has been carried out to investigate the antioxidant activity of pigment from the extract of peel dragon fruits (Hylocereus spp) and the effect of various concentration of extract of peel dragon fruit as a colorant on sensory characteristic of beef sausage and milk pasteurization. Antioxidant activity of pigment from peel of dragon fruit extract in beef sausage were used by thiobarbituric acid test (TBA) in 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 arid 7 days. Eight trained panelist have 0.1% sugar threshold was judged color and taste of milk pasteurization and beef sausages. The result show that the pigment of peel dragon fruit inhibited oxidant activity in beef sausage. Panelists significant prefer color and taste beef sausage and milk pasteurization that treated by pigment extract of peel dragon fruit.

Abstract

Objective of KKN-PPM is to overcome the problems encountered in the village Cakringturi that the low incomes, lack of knowledge and understanding of environmental management, especially land yard. The solution to solve the problem is to empower rural communities through land use courtyard with technology integration system of livestock, crops and fish and provide food processing technology skills.Methods: Counseling, Mentoring, Training. Result: K1 program: Land yard citizens have been utilized, Product Probiofish, Aquaponics, Raising catfish in the pond Bis, The Carambola Fruit Cultivation along the river, Product instant and syrup TOGA, Vertikultur. K2 program: Competition Fun Cake in early childhood, Competition Beuty and Hijab Class, Teaching in Early Childhood Educatio. K3 Program : : Tutoring for elementary school children, Work with the community service, Yasinan, tahlilan, & diba'an, Assist Posyandu services. Distribution of poor rice, Visits to polindes,, Decorating in early childhood classrooms, Coordination with Karangtaruna, A visit to the village, Assist village. Conclusion: The entire planning of the program, both the main program, additional, or auxiliary implemented very well and smoothly by all students of KKN PPM 2015. Society and village and community leaders strongly support KKN PPM program and community empowerment have been successfully carried out. Abstract

Infectious diseases of the genital tract and the increasing resistance of microorganisms to antibiotic therapy have received high attention in worldwide. Gamal plant (Gliricidia sepium) is a multipurpose leguminous plant that contains various antimicrobial secondary metabolites. This study aims to prove that the methanol extract of gamal leaves can significantly inhibit the growth of the bacteria Neisseria gonorrhoeae and the fungus Candida albicans. The study was carried out in an experimental randomized block design with each treatment repeated 5 times. Types of microorganisms, namely N. gonorrhoeae bacteria and C. albicans fungi as a group and concentrations of methanol extract of gamal leaves (0, 25, 50, 100, 150 and 200 mg/ml and chloramphenicol) as treatments. The results showed that gamal leaf extract could inhibit the growth of the bacteria N. gonorrhoeae and the fungus C. albicans. The inhibition of methanol extract against bacteria and fungi increased with increasing test concentration. This study also showed that the inhibition of methanolic extract of gamal leaves against the fungus C. albicans was higher than N. gonorrhoeae bacteria. The results of the study concluded that the methanol extract of gamal leaves was showed to inhibit the growth of N. gonorrhoeae bacteria and C. albicans bacteria. Gamal leaf methanol extract has the potential to be used as an alternative therapy for infectious diseases of the genital tract, especially vaginal candidiasis and gonorrhea. Abstract

Desa Grinting, Kecamatan Tulangan, Kabupaten Sidoarjo is a rice farming area which in the harvest season is abundant and the rice straw is not used to generate added value economically. Farmers tend to be rice straw and often pollute the surrounding air. Cultivation of straw mushroom using straw as a growing medium is a viable option to overcome this problem. However, the people of Desa Grinting do not yet have sufficient knowledge and understanding to carry out a mushroom cultivation business. This training aims to increase the knowledge, understanding and interest of the people in Desa Grinting to carry out a straw mushroom cultivation business using rice straw as a growing medium. Training has been conducted using zoom and Whatapp applications for 2 months. The Youth Organization and GAPOKTAN members became target partners for this online training. During the training, the target partners were very active and enthusiastic about participating in the training, holding discussions and questions and answers. This courage training succeeded in increasing the knowledge, understanding and business interest of the target partners in cultivating edible mushrooms using straw as a growing medium. The real results in the form of behavior change were evident in the target partners and there were members who had done independent practice of making plant media using rice straw.

Abstract

The aim of this study to sought determine effect of seligi leaf powder (Phyllanthus buxifolius, Muell) as a feed supplement on body weight, feed consumption, fat and cholesterol level of egg quails. Eighteen of quails have aclimated for 14 days, randomly divided into 3 group and each group have treated 0, 2,5 and 5% powder of seligi leaf in feed for 7 days. The result of this study shown powder of seligi leaf significant (P< 0,05) influence on body weight, feed consumption, and fat and cholesterol level of egg quails, but not significant (P>0,05) influence on internal quality off egg. Average of body weight quail in tread without powder of seligi leaf significant (P<0,05) lower than 2,5% and 5% powder of seligi leaf in feed, the average consumption of the quail treated with 2.5% and 5% significant (P <0.05) lower than the diet without leaf powder seligi, the average fat content of the treated 2.5% and 5% lower than the diet without seligi leaf powder, the average cholesterol levels treated with 2.5% and 5% lower than the diet without seligi leaf powder. It&rsquo;s can be concluded that the use of seligi leaf powder in the ration of 2.5%-5% can reduce levels of fat and cholesterol 1,01-1,65% and 0,99-1,38%, respectively without influence on internal quality of quail eggs. Abstract

The aims of this study to test the killing effect of aqueous extract of leaf pronojiwo (E. horsfieldii) on mortality of rice pests N. lugens, L. acuta and rice T. innotata. Study was conducted in a completely randomized exprimental design with 5 level of water extract of E. horsfieldii (0, 40, 50, 66,67, and 100 g/l in water), each of treatment was 5 replication. Application have done by spraying water extract of leaves Pronojiwo to 3 types of rice pest insects reared in containment measures 80 x 25 cm2, for each lid containing 10 head insects. Observations of rice pests mortality for 24 hours after application of aqueous extract E. horsfieldii. The results of this study showed the aqueous extract of E. horsfieldii have significant effect (P <0.05) on mortality of rice pests. Aqueous extract of leaves E. horsfieldii can kill pests of rice N.lugens, L. acuta, and T. innotata with lethal concentration 50 (LC50) of 4.46, 4.48 and 4.49 g/l water. Abstract

Sumberingin village, district of Sanankulon,  Blitar city, East Java is one of the village that became center of poultry farms. This potential large farm was driving to the emergence of  trade syndicate system of feed manufacturers, so it's easy playing the price and availability of animal feed. Beside that the spreading of  low-quality animal feed was also being a potential problem. These conditions caused the farmers of suffering  loss and even getting out of business. An  observation indicated that the local area is a producer of potential animal feed raw materials such as tubers, legumes, tofu, soybean, molasses and bekicot/snails. Formulation science and technology of high quality animal food is needed by the farmers and it is a form of technology transfer to farmers group "Mandiri" in Sumberingin village, Sanankulon, Blitar. The availability of mechanical machines in the form of dishmill production machine, mixer, mold and dryer are beneficial to farmers. These machines can increase productivity as well as quality of their products. In addition it is also expected to decresase the quail mortality rate due to new feed formulation. It can raise the quail immunity exposure to stress and disease. Various species of medicinal plants, especially pike (Phyllantusbuxifolius), known to be iimmuno stimulant are widely available in the local village. They are easily planted and cultivated so that the transfer of science and technology of medicinal plants can be beneficially conducted. The outcomes of this program include: (1) the product of nutrient animal feed is available as needed, relatively inexpensive, can improve the quail immunity and can be produced on an ongoing basis by independent farmers. (2) an ergonomic feed production machine, relatively inexpensive, functional, appropriate and easy to operate can be owned by farmers to produce functional animal feed for the quails.
