Abstract

More than six million women worldwide use contraceptive injection and the popular contraceptive method used is contraceptive pill. Combined pill contraceptives have side effects, which are increased triglyceride and total cholesterol levels and changes in carbohydrate metabolism while the DMPA is irregular menstruation/amenorrhea, weight changes and lipid changes.This research is an observational with Cross Sectional Comparative approach to 36 combination pill acceptor and 36 DMPA acceptor. This study was conducted ini the area of Andalas and Lubuk Buaya Health Center. The sampling method used in this research was simple random sampling method. The analysis was used T-Independent test. The results showed that Low Density Lipoprotein levels DMPA (63,97 ± 12,75 mg/dl) vs combined contraceptive pill (89,66 ± 28,39 mg/dl) p = 0,25 and High Density Lipoprotein levels DMPA (63,97± 12,75 mg/dl) vs combined contraceptive pill (60,06 ± 15,57 mg/dl), p = 0,25. Results of this study concluded that there was significant difference in average of Low Density Lipoprotein and High Density Lipoprotein levels in the combined contraceptive pill and Medroxy Progesteron Acetate Depot acceptor but statistically the difference was no significant.

Abstract

The main cause of infant mortality is Low Birth Weight (LBW). Basd on data obtained from the West Sumatra Provincial Health Office in 2015,  from 1376 case of 92.444 babies weighed, and there were 2,066 (2.2%) LBW in 2014. Growth and development of the fetus need vitamin D for cell and bone growth.The design of this study is cross sectional and conducted in Tanah Datar District in the working area of Puskesmas Simabur, Puskesmas Lima Kaum I, and in Puskesmas Lima Kaum II and Solok District in the working area of Puskesmas Talang, Puskesmas Gaek Jua and Puskesmas Tanjung Bingkung from January 2017 to March 2018. The study population was third trimester pregnant women with a population of 60 respondents, by multistage random sampling. Examination of vitamin D levels by ELISA method. Data were analyzed by univariate and bivariate with normality test.The result of this study that level are the average vitamin D content of 25.44 ± 10.49 pg / ml and the median weight of the baby born is 3000 gram. There was a positive relationship between vitamin D levels in pregnant women with birth weight (r = 0,463), (p < 0,05).The conclusion of this research is that there is a significant association between vitamin D levels in pregnant women with infants born weight in West Sumatra.

Abstract

Abstract

Hiperglikemia merupakan kondisi peningkatan gula darah sehingga menyebabkan stres oksidatif meningkat hal ini menyebabkan penurunan fungsi dari organ hipotalamus dan GnRh di hipofisis anterior akan sulit mensekresikan FSH dan LH sehingga terjadinya penurunan fungsi sistem endokrin reproduksi yaitu menurunya hormon testosteron dan jumlah spermatozoa. Mengetahui Pengaruh Pemberian Isolat Katekin Gambir Terhadap Kadar Hormon Testosteron dan Jumlah Spermatozoa Tikus Rattus Norvegicus Jantan Hiperglikemia. Metode Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian experimental, Pemberian Isolat Katekin Gambir, selanjutnya dilakukan pengambilan darah pada vena retro orbita tikus yang digunakan untuk pemeriksaan kadar hormon testosteron dalam serum, kadar testosteron  di analisis dengan tekhnik Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) dan Vas Deferrens tikus untuk pengambilan spermatozoa menghitung jumlah spermatozoa dengan analisa sperma. Didapat kaadar hormon testosteron pada kelompok  (KN) 1,1154 nmol/L, KP 0,8232 nmol/L, PI 2,9592 nmol/L, PII 1,4078 nmol/L, PIII 1,6334 nmol/L secara statistik terdapat perbedaan rerata hormon testosteron p (p<0,05). Rerata spermatozoa kelompok (KN) 430,0, KP 297,01, PI 452,0,PII 345,0, PIII 213,0 secara statistik terdapat perbedaan (p<0,05). Pemberian isolat katekin gambir (Uncaria gambir Roxb) dapat meningkatkan kadar hormon testosteron dan jumlah spermatozoa pada tikus rattus norvegicus jantan hiperglikemia.

Abstract

Angka harapan hidup yang meningkat menandakan terjadinya peningkatan jumlah penduduk Lanjut Usia (Lansia) sehingga terjadi peningkatan permasalahan kesehatan pada lansia karena adanya proses menua yang menyebabkan banyak perubahan pada tubuh lansia. Salah satu perubahan pada tubuh lansia yaitu sistem pengaturan glukosa darah sehingga mengakibatkan peningkatan glukosa darah lebih dari normal. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran kadar glukosa darah pada lansia di Panti Sosial Tresna Werdha (PSTW) Sabai Nan Aluih Sicincin. Penelitian ini merupakan studi deskriptif yang dilaksanakan di PSTW Sabai Nan Aluih Sicincin pada Bulan Agustus 2015 - Februari 2016. Penelitian ini menggunakan data primer dengan mengambil sampel darah jari pada responden yang kemudian diukur dengan Glukometer Easy Touch®. Teknik sampling yang digunakan adalah total sampling dengan jumlah sampel yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi adalah 27 orang. Data diolah untuk menghasilkan distribusi dan persentase. Hasil penelitian didapatkan 85,19% lansia memiliki glukosa darah normal. Berdasarkan usia, lansia usia 60-74 tahun yang memiliki glukosa darah normal yaitu 83,33% dan lansia berusia 75-70 tahun yang memiliki kadar glukosa darah normal yaitu 86,67%. Berdasarkan jenis kelamin, lansia pria yang memiliki kadar glukosa darah normal sekitar 84,21% dan lansia wanita yang memiliki kadar glukosa darah normal sekitar 87,50%. Disimpulkan bahwa lebih dari separuh lansia di PSTW Sabai Nan Aluih.

Abstract

Salah satu efek kopi yang masih menjadi kontroversi adalah pengaruh terhadap penurunan agregasi trombosit dengan cara meningkatkan jumlah cAMP trombosit. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menentukan potensi kopi dalam menghambat agregasi trombosit melalui pengamatan waktu perdarahan. Penelitian Randomized Pre Test-Post Test Control Group Design ini dilakukan pada 35 ekor mencit jantan yang dibagi menjadi lima kelompok. Perlakuan diberikan pada hari ke-9 sampai hari ke-22 ,yaitu kelompok P1 (kontrol negatif), kelompok P2 (kopi dosis14 mg/20 g BB), kelompok P3 (kopi dosis kopi 28 mg/20 g BB), kelompok P4 (kopi dosis kopi 70 mg/20 g BB), dan kelompok P5 (kopi 140 mg/20 g BB). Pengukuran waktu perdarahan metode tail bleeding pada hari ke-8 dan ke-23. Analisis data menggunakan uji t berpasangan dan One-Way Anova. Hasil penelitian dengan uji berpasangan menunjukkan bahwa tidak terjadi perubahan rerata waktu perdarahan yang bermakna pada kelompok P1 (0,095) dan P2 (p=0,143), sedangkan kelompok P3, P4, dan P5 menunjukkan perubahan rerata waktu perdarahan yang bermakna denganmasing-masing nilai signifikansi 0,002, 0,000, dan 0,010. Hasil uji One-Way Anova setelah perlakuan dan Post-Hoc menunjukkan hanya terdapat perbedaan bermakna antara kelompok P1 dengan kelompok P2, P3, P4, dan P5 (p<0,05), sedangkan antar kelompok yang diberi kopi yaitu P2, P3, P4, dan P5, tidak terdapat perbedaan yang bermakna.

Abstract

House dust mite is closely associated with the incidence of allergies such as asthma, atopic dermatitis and allergic rhinitis. Spesies of house dust mite which has been proven to be related with the incidence of allergies are Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus and Dermatophagoides farinae. The purpose of this study is to describe the density of house dust mites species  in residence houses in Kelurahan Jati. The study was a descriptive study with 96 samples taken from  two habitats, namely beds and carpets in 48 homes that have been selected randomly. House dust mites were identified using a light microscope with magnification of 40 times. The results showed that 56 of 96 samples were positive of house dust mites. This study showed that Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus was the most commonly found spesies of house dust mite (71 mites) with the highest density in the bed (6.88 mites/ gram of dust). Species Dermatophagoides farinae only found as many as 5 mites with the highest density in the carpet (0.46 mites/ gram of dust). The conclusion of this research is the density of house dust mites in Kelurahan Jati are quite low so that the possibility to cause allergic diseases is very small.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPeriodontitis terutama disebabkan bakteri patogen periodontal yang dapat memicu pembentukan radikal bebas yang berlebihan, menyebabkan stres oksidatif sehingga terjadi kerusakan jaringan. Hal ini mempunyai pengaruh bermakna terhadap peningkatan produksi Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) dalam tubuh dan kerusakan sel pada jaringan alveolar gigi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh vitamin E dalam mengatasi stres oksidatif pada tikus putih strain Wistar yang mengalami periodontitis. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental dengan post test only control group design. Tiga puluh ekor tikus dikelompokan menjadi 5 kelompok yaitu kontrol negatif (tanpa perlakuan), kontrol positif (diberi silk ligature 14 hari) dan perlakuan 1, 2, dan 3 (diberi silk ligature selama 14 hari, dilanjutkan dengan pemberian vitamin E dengan dosis 20, 40, dan 60 IU selama 10 hari). Pada hari terakhir penelitian dilakukan pengambilan darah untuk pemeriksaan kadar Malondialdehyde (MDA) dan penilaian inflamasi gingiva melalui skor indeks gingiva. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rerata kadar MDA pada kelompok kontrol positif yang diberikan silk ligature saja mempunyai kadar MDA tertinggi dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol negatif dan semua kelompok perlakuan. Pemberian vitamin E mampu menurunkan kadar MDA serum secara bermakna pada semua kelompok perlakuan (p 0,05). Vitamin E juga mampu menurunkan skor indeks gingiva dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol positif pada semua kelompok. Simpulan: Pemberian vitamin E mampu mengatasi stres oksidatif dan inflamasi pada periodontitis yang ditandai dengan penurunan kadar MDA dan skor indeks gingiva.Kata Kunci: Vitamin E, Stress Oksidatif, Inflamasi, PeriodontitisABSTRACTPeriodontitis is mainly caused by periodontal pathogenic bacteria, which can trigger excessive free radical formation, causing oxidative stress and tissue damage. This has a significant effect on increasing the production of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) in the body and cell damage in the alveolar tissue of the teeth. This study aimed to determine the effect of vitamin E in overcoming oxidative stress in Wistar strain white rats with periodontitis. This research is an experimental study with a post-test-only control group design. Thirty rats were grouped into five groups, namely negative control (without treatment), positive control (given silk ligature 14 days), and treatments 1, 2, and 3 (given silk ligature for 14 days, followed by administration of vitamin E with doses 20, 40, and 60 IU for ten days). On the last day of the study, blood was collected to check the levels of Malondialdehyde (MDA) and gingival inflammation through the gingival index score. The results showed that the mean MDA levels in the positive control group given silk ligature alone had the highest MDA levels compared to the negative control group and all treatment groups. Administration of vitamin E significantly reduced serum MDA levels in all treatment groups (p 0.05). Vitamin E also reduced the gingival index score compared to the positive control group in all groups. Conclusion: The administration of vitamin E can overcome oxidative stress and inflammation in periodontitis, characterized by a decrease in MDA levels and gingival score index. Keywords: Vitamin E, Oxidative Stress, Inflammation, Periodontitis

Abstract

Elementary school students are consumers who are among those who consume the most food and beverages. Food and drinks sold around the school contain many hazardous substances such as dyes that have been banned from circulating (Rhodamine B in iced drinks, jelly drinks, and so on) and other additives such as formalin which is used as a chewy substance in meatballs sold in carts and restaurants that can cause acute poisonings such as allergies, coughs and chronic poisonings such as cancer of the liver, kidneys and other organs. The purpose of this activity is to increase knowledge about substances in food and an introduction to blood group examination. This activity was carried out at SD Negeri 13 Tungkal Selatan Village in North Pariaman District. The method of activity is in the form of counseling and demonstration. According to the survey before the blood group examination, it turned out that most of the elementary school students did not know their blood type. Before the blood group examination, the students were also given knowledge about determining a person's blood type. After this counseling was carried out, respondents became more aware of the impact of food/snacks on health, and respondents knew their respective blood types. Of the 64 students, there are 22 A, 17 B, 12 AB, 13 O. To avoid problems related to food and blood type. There is a need for continuous health education for elementary school students.

Abstract

Objective: This study was conducted to investigate the involvement of oxidative damage in rat model of osteoarthritis treated with Mesenchymal Stem Cell Wharton Jelly and to elucidate whether oxidative stress indicators correlate with cartilage damage and catalase activity. Methods: This research is an experimental research with Posttest-Only Control Group Design. The sample consisted of 30 OA rat divided into 5 groups. Group I was the OA rat control group, group II was the OA rat group after 4 weeks, group III was the OA rat group after 8 weeks, group IV was the OA rat group after 4 weeks of treatment with MSC-WJ and group V is the OA rat group after 8 weeks treated with MSC-WJ. Malondialdehyde were measured by Ohkawa method, Cartilage Thickness were measured by using the Betaview program and catalase activity were measured by modification of Shinha.Results: The results showed that the analysis of the Correlation between MDA with Cartilage Thickness (r= – 0.665) and CAT activity (r= – 0.666) in osteoarthritis Model Rat after Mesenchymal Stem Cell Wharton’s Jelly Treatment.Conclusion: This study demonstrated a strong negative correlation between oxidative stress and knee cartilage thickness and catalase activity of MSC-WJ treated OA rats.
