Abstract

Midwife’s performance at Primary Health Care (PHC) still not optimal, slacken the effort of reducing maternal death. Unavailability of doctor at  PHC placed greater responsibility on midwife, thus improving midwife’s performance is crucial. Midwife’s performance influenced by ability, motivation, and supervision. Cross- ethnic supervision combined with line manager supervision, fit in the development of dialogue focused supervisory relationship (DFSR) in midwifery supervision. This study aimed to analyse the effect of DFSR on midwife’s performance, and the relationship between cross-ethnic supervision  and DFSR. This research used crosssectional design. Using random sampling techniques, 113 pairs of midwives -supervisors working in PHC at Kupang city and Kupang district were obtained. Data analysed using regression analysis. The findings were: (1) quality of DFSR affecting  midwife’s performance improvement, with quality of dialogue give strongest influence, (2) good quality supervisory relationship decrease midwife’s performance, and (3) cross-ethnic supervision didn’t have significant relationship towards DFSR. The development of DFSR as a new construct and evident of the relationship between DFSR and midwife’s performance is a novel in this study. To enrich this finding, future research should use longitudinal design and with different type of respondent. Study in exploring factor in cross-ethnic supervision that may influence DFSR also suggested.

Abstract

Stevedoring activities at container terminals make it one of the most dangerous workplace for employees because they have to deal with variety of high-risk conditions as well as high-risk equipments. Therefore it is not suprising that container terminals have high occupational accidents rate. Furthermore, several statistical reports also indicate that most maritime accidents are attributable to human error. The purpose of this study is to explain the effect of safety climate and big-five personality on employee safety performance. Safety climate and big five personality are considered as two factors that influence employee safety performance. Therefore strong positive safety climate in organization will be able improve employee safety performance and reduce accidents. This study was conducted to 148 employees in a container terminal by using simple random sampling as the sampling technique. Multiple regression technique was used to examine the effect of safety climate and big-five personality on employee safety performance. The result revealed that safety climate and big-five personality positively affect employee safety performance. Abstract

Adolescents with drug abuse are common, especially among students. Health character is needed to prevent this behavior.  Health character relates to family support, peer support, teacher support (social supports) and self-concept as the mediator between these supports and health character. This study was observational study and used cross sectional design to analyze self-concept as the mediator between social supports (family support, peer support, and teacher support) and health character. Data was collected from senior high school students in Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan for two months. We used cluster random sampling also self-report questionnaires to collect the data. AMOS was used to calculate coefficient path and model fit. Sobel test was used to calculate the strength of self-concept as the mediator between social supports and health character. The results showed that the final model of social supports, self-concept and health character with GFI, AGFI, CFI, and RMSEA were 0.994, 0.996, 0.992, and 0.103. Our findings showed that self-concept was full mediator between teacher support and health character (p < 0.05). Self-concept was partial mediator between family support and health character (p < 0.05). Further research is needed to develop intervention and prevent drug abuse based on health character model. The focus of the study was the experience felt by informants in running the NHI program and how knowledge and attitudes of informants towards the phenomenon of fraud in hospitals. The results achieved in this phenomenological research were in the form of a reflection of the implementation of NHI in hospitals, especially relating to the phenomenon of potential fraud reflected in the knowledge and attitudes of the hospital about fraud and a description of the occurrence of fraud in the hospital.
