Abstract

The objective of the research is to find out whether the application words association technique increasing students’ vocabulary words association game or not. It is a True-Experimental research. It is conducted at first grade of SMA Negeri 3 Tolitoli that was (X MIA1). The writer gave a pre-test to measure the students previous ability in vocabulary words association after given treatment which is the application of words association game technique. The writer used SPSS 16.0 program to analyze the data collection. the result of data analysis showed that technique give a significant effect to the students’ in words association game. The mean score of the post-test (80,61) was higher than the mean score of pre-test (63,65). Then, the testing hypothesis showed that the value of tcount (tc) was greater than ttable (tt) (6.099 ≥ 2,017). In conclusion, The application of words association game technique is effective to increasing students’ vocabulary.Keywords: Increasing, Vocabulary, Words Association Game, Experiment

Abstract

This research aims to find out whether the use of List-Group-Label Strategy can increase students’ vocabulary at the seventh grade of MTs DDI Darul Ulum kalangkangan. This research design belongs to a quasi-experimental research. There were two classes, namely VII A as control class (without List-Group-Label Strategy) with the total number of 23 students and VII B as experiment class (taught by List-Group-Label Strategy) with the total number of 22 students. The researcher gave pre-test and post-test to both groups. The researcher used SPPS 16.0 program to analyze the data. The result of data analysis showed that List-Group-Label strategy give a significant effect to the increasing students vocabulary specially noun. The mean score of post-test experiment (65.4091) was higher than the mean score of post-test control (49.6087). Then, the testing hypothesis showed that the value of score T-test is greater than Ttable (-2.862 > 1.681). In conclusion, the application of List-Group-Label strategy is effective to increasing students’ vocabulary especially noun. Key words: Increasing, noun, and List-Group-Label.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to identify the used word wall method in increase students’ vocabulary. An experimental design is used to collect the data. The researcher take the second grade of SMP Negeri 4 Tolitoli Utara as object of the research.The data are obtain through a pre-test and post-test. The pre-test is used to measure the students previous ability in memorizing vocabulary, the treatment are apply materials through word wall method, and the post-test is use to find out the students’ vocabulary after give the treatment.The result of the analysis show the effectiviness of word wall in increasing vocabulary. It can be see by the difference of the mean score between pre-test and post-test. The mean score of pre-test is 18.67 while in the post-test improve up to 47.89. Moreover the Minimum Mastery Criterion of English lesson is 75 (seventy-five). Then the data of both test are analyze by using T-test, and the result show that the T-test value 14.030 is greater than T-table value 2,048. It can be infer that word wall method is very effective in increasing students’ vocabulary in memorizing vocabulary. Key words: word wall, vocabulary, memorize vocabulary.

Abstract

The objective of the research is to find out whether the use of self-questioning strategy improve the students’ reading comprehension in narrative text.The design of this research is experimental research. The population of this researchis the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Tolitoli in the academic year of 2015/2016. The number of the subjects is 35 students. The data areobtain by administering reading test to the VIII B. The research is started by giving pre-test, treatments,and post-test. The data of the test areanalyze by using t-test formula to know the difference of the students’comprehension in reading narrative text. In the pre-test, the mean score of the experimental research is 49.34. The mean score of post-test of the experimental research is 83.20. The result of the t-test  differenceis 11.848and t-table is2.032. It means that t-value is higherthan t-table (11.848>2.032). The calculation reveal that the hypothesis about asignificant difference on reading comprehension between students who arethrough narrative text by using Self-Questioning strategy.Based on the research conduct, it is  prove that the use of Self-Questioning strategy is effective as a strategy to improve students’ Reading Comprehension In Narrative Text Of VIII Grade At SMPN 3 Tolitoli. Key Words     : Improve, Reading Comprehension,Self-Questioning strategy,Narrative text,

Abstract

The objective of this research was to find out whether the application of dictogloss  technique improve the students’ writing recount text or not. It was a pre-experimental research. It was conducted at first grade of SMK Negeri 1 Tolitoli that was (X FM 1). The researcher gave a pre-test to measure the students’ previous ability in writing recount text. Then, a post-test was to find out the students’ writing recount text after given treatment which is the application of dictogloss technique. The researcher used SPSS 16.0 program to analyze the data collection. The result of data analysis showed that dictogloss technique give a significant effect to the students in writing a recount text. The mean score of the post-test (81,47) was higher than the mean score of pre-test (56,22). Then, the testing hypothesis showed that the value of tcount was greater than ttable (9,683 ≥ 2.040). In conclusion, the application of dictogloss technique is effective to improve students’ writing in recount text. Key words: Improve, Writing Ability, and Dictogloss Technique.
