Abstract

Abstract:Scylla paramamosain E. is one type of crab that lives in mud substrat at mangroveareas Buo Gulf. Scylla Paramamosain E. is favored by the people in the Buo Gulf. Now Scylla paramamosain E. population has begun to decrease and sizes caught are relatively small . Based on at this research take plan to identification gonad maturity of Scylla paramamosain E. at mangrove forest in the Buo Gulf Bungus of Padang. This study was conducted in May until July 2013 used the descriptive method. The results showed there were different gonad maturity of Scylla paramamosain was caught in the Buo Gulf. In May, Scylla paramamosain E. had immature gonads 33.33 % while the percentage of matured at a rate of66.67 % . In June, the percentage of immature gonads and matured amount 30.0% and 70 % . In July, there were 41 , 66 % in the immature stage and 58.32 % matured. Among of the three months, gonad maturity Scylla paramamosain E in July at the mostly mature gonad condition and ready for spawning. In addition biogeochemical cycles can influence and bring sufficient nutrients for survival Scylla paramamosain E. In general the level gonad maturity in Scylla paramamosain E. in the Gulf Buo mangrove forest in May to July 2013 TKG I5.68 % , 29.32 % TKG II , III TKG 21.27 % , 11.15 % IV TKG , TKG V 32.59 %. Environmental factors such as temperature measured during the study ranged from 280C , salinity ranges from 31 % o - 32 % o , pH around 7 ( Neutral ) and an average water depth of 58.5 cm .

Abstract

ABSTRACTGonad maturity is as describes the ability of reproduction of aquatic animals including Blue sweemer crab. Rajungan crab Portunus pelagicus L. requires Mangrove area as a place of ( Nursery grounds and Feeding grounds. This study was conducted  to determine the of gonad maturity of Rajungan crab Portunus pelagicus L. in Buo Gulf Mangrove, the Bungus Teluk Kabung, Padang. The research was conducted from May to July 2013 using the descriptive method through observation of gonadal morphology of Rajungan crab Portunus pelagicus L. Data analisis of  Gonad Maturity using the percentage. The result showed that the female Rajungan crab is 33. Gonad Maturity percentage in May - July  Gonad Maturity I : 39.39%, Gonad Maturity II 27.27%, Gonad Maturity III 12.12%, Gonad Maturity IV 12.12%, Gonad Maturity V 9.09%. Observations on physicl-chemical water parameters during three months ware observed that ranged from 28.40 - 30.80C0, salinity from 32.3 to 34.5 ppm, pH 7 - 8, and the depth  65cm - 3m.

Abstract

ABSTRACTWalang rice pest is a pest that attack rice plants after flowering by sucking liquidgrain and causes the grain to be empty or incomplete filling. This pest can reduce not only the results but also degrade the quality of grain such as brown spots on the grain. Angsana bark extract expected to be antifeedant to walang rice pest .The aim of this to determine the effect of angsana bark extract on feed intake Angsana walang rice pest .This research used Completely Randomized Design ( CRD ) with 4 treatments and 8 replications . Angsana bark extract treatment given is 0 % , 2.5 % , 5 % and 7.5 % . Data were analyzed using ANOVA test and if followed by LSD test . The research was conducted in April-June in the Laboratory of Zoology Department of Biology Faculty padang state university.The results showed that in the control treatment searching activity walang rice pest of takes the fastest31 minutes 62 seconds compared to other treatments . For grounding activity found in the fastest the control 19 minutes 34 seconds while on treatment with a gathering activity concentration of 5 % takes a quickes 11 minutes 8 seconds . On feed consumption Angsana bark extract in the treatment and control concentrations of 5  % indicates the average number of the lowest feed intake of 0.53 % . It can be concluded that the influence of Angsana bark extract at a concentration of 5 % can be used as an antifeedantto walang rice pest .

Abstract

ABSTRACT Cocoa pood sucker (Helopeltis theivora Wat.) pests attack the cocoa primordial fruit and shoot. These pests cause damage by piercing and sucking fluids fruit and young shoot. The attack led to the death of the fruit or cause the formation of abnormal fruit, consequently the yield and quality of cocoa beans decreased and the small size. This research aim to determine the effect of bark extract Angsana against exploiters cocoa pood sucker  feed consumption. This research used Completely Randomized Design ( CRD ) with 4 treatments and 6 replications . Given the control treatment (0 %), 2.5 %, 5 %, and 7.5 %. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance test then further by LSD test. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Zoology Department of Biology Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science UNP, at July-August 2013. The result showed concentration of 2.5 % activity of searching H. theivora takes the fastest time ( 32 minutes 65 seconds ) than other treatments. Grounding for the activity found in controls fastest time 8 minutes 89 seconds, while the 7.5 % treatment gathering activity is the fastest time 12 minutes 48 seconds. On feed intake, angsana bark extract in the treatment with a concentration of 7.5 % shows the average number of the lowest feed intake of 0.67 grams . It can be concluded that the angsana bark extract at a concentration of 5 % can be used as an antifeedant against H. theivora.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe lack of interest and students motivation to study biology lead them to get low achievement. This case can see from the students average learning outcomes of biology at SMPN 38 Sijunjung grade seven which gotten score below the Minimum Completeness Criteria (MCC). One of reason is the lack variation of the strategy by the teacher, therefore learning process is monotonous. To solve this problem need to apply the strategy that can make students be active and get motivation in learning process. This research has purpose to know the effect the by using implementation Scrambled Groups strategy on students learning outcomes of biology at SMPN 38 Sijunjung grade seven academic year 2012/2013. This research is experiment. The population is students grade seven at SMPN 38 Sijunjung that listed in the academic year 2012/2013 which consists of two classes. Both of these classes were sampled (saturated sampling), to determine experimental class and control class conducted the draw, which was chosen to be experimental is class VII1 and control class is VII2. The instrument used was a test. Student learning outcomes and obtained an average value of 77,23 experimental class and control class 67,72. Data analysis was to test the similarity of the two premises mean t-test at the 0.05 significance level. Based on the analysis of data obtained the price 2,03 tcount 1.67 ttable. This means that tcount > ttable, therefore the hypothesis is accepted. Therefore the implementation of Scrambled Groups strategy can improve the learning outcomes of students in biology at SMPN 38 Sijunjung grade seven academic year 2012/2013.

Abstract

                                                       ABSTRACT            The lack of students understanding of the topic of biology that presented by teacher lead them to get low achievement. This case can see from the students average learning outcomes of  biology at MTsN Pakan Rabaa grade seven which gotten score below Minimum Completeness Criteria ( MCC ). One of reason is less of motivation students to study because learning process only dominate by the teacher therefore students often make noisy in the classroom. Interaction between students and teacher is not condusive or there is no feedback between them, beside that the topic is too dificult to understand. To solve this problem, the researcher used Spotlight strategy to apply. This research is experiment which used  Randomized Control – Group Postest Only Design. The population is all of students at MTsN Pakan Rabaa grade seven academic year 2012/2013 which consist of three classes. Sampling technique that used purposive sampling technique and that chosen as the experimental class are a class VII A and control class VII B. Instrument in this study is a test of student learning outcomes and obtained an average value of 76.40 experimental class and control class 56.27. Based on the analysis of data obtained by the price that has been done tcount = 6.47 > ttable = 1.88 it means that the research hypothesis H1 is accepted. Therefore Spotlight strategy can improve learning outcomes of biology at MTsN Pakan Rabaa grade seven.

Abstract

ABSTRACTBitter (Andrographis paniculata Nees.) widely used for the treatment of various diseases, such as influenza, HIV anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory, antifertility. The main content of the bitter is Andrographolide. Andrographolide is the activeantimitotic bitter agentthat prevents cell division (cytokinesis) and reduced sperm count. This study aimed to determine the effect of extract of bitter (Andrographis paniculata Nees.) on the quality of epididymal spermatozoa of mice (Mus musculus L.) Swiss Webster.This research was conducted usingCompletely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 6 replications. Firs (I) treatment was the control, without any bitter extract. Treatments II, III, and IV is the provision of a bitter extract orally for 36 days with a dose of 0.2 g /mice/day, 0.4 g/mice/day or 0.6 g/mice/day. After treatment, the animals were decapitated, dissected and taken epididymal, and then put into the cup petridis already containing PBS solution. Calculation of number of normal and abnormal spermatozoa number were conducted using Improved Neubauer. Data were analyzed by ANOVA (Analysis Of Varian) that epididymal sperm normal and abnormal.The results shoured by the average sperm count is highest in the control of 29.83 x 105, whereas at a dose of 0.2 g of as much as 18.17 x 105, 0.4 g of as much as 24.33 x 105 and 0.6 g as much as 14.17 x 105. Delays due to the reduced number of sperm in the seminiferous tubules of the process of mitosis by antimitotic compounds. While granting that the higher the extract resulted in increased number of abnormal sperm. The causes of abnormal sperm maturation of spermatozoa due to disruption in spermiogenesis phase. The fewer the number of normal sperm treated with increasing doses. It can  concluded that the extract of bitter given orally for 36 days can decrease sperm quality mice and increases sperm abnormalities.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Sambiloto(Ind) or Bitter(Eng) Andrographis paniculata Nees., can used in the treatment of various diseases, such as influenza, cancer, antiinflammatory, antiHIV, antimitotic and antifertility.This study aimed to determine the effect of  the herbal bitter (Andrographis paniculata Nees.) to ejaculated sperm quality mice (Mus musculus L.). This research  was conducted  using Completely Randomized  Design  (CRD)  with  4 treatments and 6 replications, water and fed adlibitum. First treatment is given solvent extract. Second treatment extract were given 0.2 gram, third treatment were given 0,4 grams of extract and fourth treatment were treated exstrac 0,6 gram the orally for 36 days. After the mice decapitated, dissected and take sperm from vas deferens. Then, the sperm preparation determined using the improved Neubauer. Data were analyzed by ANOVA (Analysis of Varians).The results shoured at doses of 0,2 gram, the average sperm count was 12,00 x  decrease significant when compared with the control in which the average number of sperm 28,08 x  . So with this research the effective doses to decrease sperm count and can be used as a contraception medication dosage was 0,2 gram. It can be conclude that the extract of bitter (Andrographis paniculata Nees.) can decrease the quality of the ejaculated sperm of mice (Mus musculus L.)

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe use of herbicides had the adverse impact on non-target organisms being one of the soil biota such as earthworms. One of the herbicide is glyphosate isopropylamine. The aimed of this study to know the influence of Isopropylamine Glyphosate Herbicides to fecundity and viability Earthworm Cocoon (Pontoscolex corethrurus Fr. Mull.). This study was conducted in July-August, 2013, held at the Zoology Laboratory of the Biology Department, Padang State University. This research used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatment, 5 replicates. The treatment were herbicide glyphosate isopropylamine of 0% (A), 0.1% (B), 0.2% (C), 0.3% (D) and 0.4% (E) mixed media. Parameters in this study is the fecundity and viability of earthworm cocoons Pontoscolex corethrurus. The results showed. the average number of cocoons on providing the highest herbicide isopropylamine glyphosate on A (40) and followed by B and C are 14.6 cocoon, D (14.2) and the lowest in the herbicide glyphosate isopropylamine E are 0 cocoon. While the average percentage hatchability earthworm cocoons Pontoscolex corethrurus on providing the highest herbicide glyphosate isopropylamine A, B and C was 100% and the lowest concentrations of D and E are 0%. It can be concluded that the herbicide glyphosate isopropylamine can decrease fecundity cocoon, but had no effect on the viability of cocoons. Based on it, the civil must, to reduce the use of chemical herbicides cause poor soil.

Abstract

ABSTRAK The limited number and kind of learning material in the school will disturb learning process. For that, we must develope learning material. Based on the problem, we do the research to get the result like drawing handout and mind map in Plantae Kingdom material that valid and practice for students in class X Senior High School of  even semester 2006 curriculum. This research is developing research with procedural model to result a product. This product developed  by three stage from Four-D model, that is; define, design and develop stages. The subjects of this research are five validators, two teachers and twenty students in XI-IA1  from SMAN 2 Lengayang. The data is primary data analyzed descriptively. The result is shows handout with mind map in Plantae Kingdom topic for students in class X of Senior High School even semester 2006 curriculum. Handout is categorized valid by validator with 85,58% value and it categorized to very practice by teachers with 93,47%, practice by students with 86,95%. It can be concludec that handout suplement on the picture with mind map in Plantae Kingdom topic for students in X class of Senior High School even semeser 2006 curriculum is valid and very practice.
